Naw. Season 2 ended with the battle at cremation creek. Dr. Girlfriend had something shocking to tell Monarch and we won't know what it is 'til Season 3. :^)

Wouldn't Dare. :^) BUT if you can access it from where you are, the first episode of Season 2 just HAPPENS to be on Adult Swim's Fix right now for the online viewing, so you can get that nasty season 1 cliffhanger resolved. :^)

http://www.adultswim.com/adultswimfix/index.html

Go to page 2. The episode is named, "Powerless in the face of death" :^)

End of Season 2 blew me right away. The cliffhanger's not as suspenseful as Season 1's hanger, but the episode itself was pure gold. It was epic on the scale of the Death Star battle. :^)

So i watched Ep 1 season 2:  It was good, pretty funny.  But i have to say pretty much expected the whole clones thing. Dr V kinda makes a semi mention of it in the ep where dean gets his nuts turned around.

The creators have said in interviews they pretty much watched the forums online to see what people thought was gonna happen, then they threw it all into the episode.

Most popular Theories were:
Orpheus brings the boys back from the dead
Dr. Venture and his new Brother are the new Venture Brothers
Dr. Venture clones the boys.

So they decided to make the first 2 ideas look like the conclusion before settling on the third one. :^)

Dean: Your name is Pumpkin?
Triana: No, it's Triana. Doesn't your dad have a nickname for you?
Dean: Sometimes he calls me Dan or Don, but I don't think those are nicknames.
Triana: ...
Dean: Hey, are you a pirate?
Triana: No. Why?
Dean: Well, I you've got the Jolly Roger on your blouse.
Triana: Oh, yeah. Well, I was going for kind of a-- Wait, did you just say "blouse?"

Obviously a lot of the popularity lies in the fact that they (the writers) draw on such a large pool of characters and situations.  Some, like the Steve Austin/OSI reference are right there in plain sight.  Others, like the character Orpheus, are an archetype of Dr. Strange as well as other mystics....

Absolutely.  A huge pool of geeky references: Comics, Super Spy Movies, Anime, and of course, the old "Johnny Quest" cartoon series from Hanna Barberra.  I love the show, HUGE COOLNESS!

Go I love this show everything from Orpheus and he overly dramatic response to ever thing, The Monarch, Brock, the Henchmen..

Love some of the 3rd tier characters like Cat-clops, Girl Hitler, and Magic 8 Ball, etc. This is the funniest thing on Adult Swim..

I always thought it had kind of a Tick-like feel to it. I found out that one of the creators actually knows Ben Edlund (The man behind the Tick) and actually did a little work on the Tick animated show as a writer. Ben even stepped in to write "Viva Los Muertos" (one of my fav eps) and he helped out with the episode on the space station. :^)

I guess for once I'm gonna have to be a troll and say I never really liked Venture Bros.  Not one bit.  I just don't think it's that funny.  To me, laughing at Venture Bros. is like laughing at a kid with Down Syndrome when they do or say something stupid.  Sure, it might be somewhat funny, but at what cost?  Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like all the jokes are "Oh look, Brock used WAAAAAAAAAAY more force than was necessary to defeat the bad guys.  And Dean and Hank are really naive about how the world works!  Oh, and Dr. Girlfriend is really hot-looking, but her voice sounds like a man's voice!  And the Monarch is a really incompetent bad guy!"  Did I miss anything?

First of all, you're not a troll for expressing an unpopular opinion. (Unless you're a douche about it, like a certain hemmorhoid who will remain nameless...) We still love you, Dalty, even if you're completely backassward wrong.  ;D

Anyway, you seem to be missing the point. True, what you've pointed out about the show isn't particularly funny, not anymore funny than, say, Homer Simpson being a complete bumbling idiot, or Bender being a vice-ridden robot. It's the way the characters interact with each other, how they react to situations, and the absurd fusion of Johnny Quest-style action with modern geek attitudes that's funny. For example, here's one of my favorite moments from the episode "Fallen Arches." Dr Orpheus has reassembled his old superteam the Order of the Triad to audition prospective archnemeses:

Quote
Jefferson Twilight, Blacula Hunter: On three we give him the old Rochambeau.
The Alchemist: Rock-paper-scissors?
Dr Orpheus: What does a general from the American Revolution have to do with this?
Jefferson Twilight: American Revolution? Rochambeau sounds French to me.
Dr Orpheus: Yes, the Franco-American forces.
Jefferson Twilight: They fought with Spaghettios and meatballs?
The Alchemist: Why would a company called Franco-American make Italian food?

But hey, there's no more subjective question than What's funny and why?

No, I get the point.  I just think it's not really absurd enough to truly qualify as a parody of Johnny Quest, but it's not far enough away from the style of the show to really be anything other than a parody.  Either way, I just don't think the show goes about trying to accomplish what it's trying to accomplish in the right way, and I've seen other shows and movies do it much more skillfully.  Space Ghost: Coast To Coast, for one.  Harvey Birdman.  The early episodes of Sealab 2021.  Red Vs. Blue is another one.  Okay, maybe that one isn't a parody of anything in particular, but it is sort of loosely set in the Halo universe.  Or how about the Brady Bunch movies?  Those movies are a perfect example of taking something that was popular in the past and seeing what happens when you look at it through a modern lens.

That's just it - I don't see Venture Bros as a parody of anything in particular. Sure, it borrows its basic premise from Johnny Quest, but it throws in so much from superhero comics and pop culture in general that it's become its own fully-developed world unto itself. The early episodes, which were nothing but a weak JQ parody, just plain suck. It's only once the writers stretched their legs, and the characters took on lives of their own, that it became what I love so much.

Man, I love this show!
It combines the best elements of Jonny Quest, The Tick and all those lame cartoons I watched when I was a kid (Scooby Doo, Fantastic Four).
Season Three kicks off in June, and CN has started to run episodes again to build up excitement.

The creator, Chris McCulloch, worked for The Tick's Ben Edlund while Edlund was doing the Tick animated show.  << While I think the Tick was very funny, I HATED the animation of the show.  When I was doing some character design for WB animation, we would get Tick model sheets and just groan when we'd see the finished animation.  The designs were great but the animation was outsourced to a really weak  company.    I'm first to admit that some of the WB stuff was really bad too.

Venture Bros was originally written as a comic book series for Monkeysuit, but McCulloch realized it would work better as a cartoon, but he never thought it would get made or accepted.  I remember reading a xerox of a pitch for it back around  the time of Batman Beyond and thinking it was great but we all doubted anyone would do it without ridiculous censoring.  Adult Swim was a perfect place for it.
