Title: House of Leaves
Post by: Zealotlee on February 22, 2007, 01:57:51 PM
Wow... I rarely read books for entertainment aside from a few exceptions, and this book is definitely one of them.  I haven't gotten too far into it (about 100 pages or so), and I'm loving it.  Anyone else read/enjoy this book?  Also, spoil anything and I will HUNT YOU DOWN!

Boy, I loved the zombie attack at the end. I really didn't see it coming.

It makes sense if you decipher some of the riddles in the index that point to his leanings toward homosexual necrophilia that started after his father died.  I saw it coming like a mile away.

Ha ha, yeah, I saw it.  But I thought I'd pull the old switcharoo.  I wasn't confident in my ability to top homosexual necrophilia.

I feel kinda schizo talking to you in two different topics at the same time.  And yes, I know the difference between schizofrenia and multiple personality disorder, but saying 'I feel kinda multiple personality disordery' sounds weird.

Ummm, let me check.  "an erotic attraction to corpses."  Yeah, I'd have to say that still counts.  Undead doesn't mean the opposite of dead, for some reason.  I guess it's kinda like thaw and unthaw.  Undead is just dead + ability to move around.  They are still corpses though.  And I site House of 1000 Corpses as my proof.  They were zombies, but also corpses.

By the way.  It was kind of silly to make a thread about a book where you can't actually talk about the book.  You better read fast, or else this thread is going to die off.

I wanted so very badly to like this book.  Hell, after reading all 10,000,000 pages of it I wanted it to be my favorite book ever.  Alas, it was not.  Far from it.  here's why:

sorry man ill have to disagree with ya.  The footnotes very rarely had very little point in my expereince.  If i had ANY complaint with it, it was the ending.  I just couldnt stand the ending, but i felt it jumped around in very readable fashion.

I thought it was a great reading experience.  I can agree that some of it meandered a bit, but without that, it would just be plot plot plot.  Usually that's the way stories go, but I felt like the flow of this book served the story well.

For anyone who has read it:
