Title: What Thorish things did you learn?
Post by: RVR II on September 27, 2011, 06:47:46 PM
I learned that Rednecks haven't evolved at all from mid-evil times ::)

I learned that beings worshipped as Gods on another planet will just arbitrarily stop going there.

I learned that nobody in Asgard seems to suspect Loki, the God of Deciet, whenever anything suspicious happens.

I learned that screenplays can be written entirely in grunts, and Norway likes flamboyant and uncomfortable helmets.

I learned that Johnny Weir and Alan Cumming somehow had a baby and named him Loki.

I learned that Thor and Captain Kirk's dad were played by the same guy. Seriously, I had absolutely no idea that was him until the riff mentioned it.

I also learned that Norse gods speak English. Even the Asian one.

I learned that Norse Gods were sort of dicks.

I also learned that middle-of-nowhere desert towns in the southwest are apparently focal points of inter-dimensional travel and dropping off points for said Norse Gods.

I learned that someone can get tossed out on their ass by their father, stripped of all of their powers, but make life and character-changing decisions inside of a couple of days and then regain their father's respect (and a tear across inter-dimensional and inter-galactic planes) as well as their powers.

I learned that Chris Hensworth has more chemistry with Natalie Portman in one movie than she had in three movies with Hayden Christensen.

I learned that even if Men-in-Black (aka "Shield") drive Acura SUV's the grill on those things still look stupid.

I learned that Shield will let a dangerous, suspected criminal go "just to see what happens".

I know, I thought that was ludicrous.

"Well, he broke into a top secret facility, beat the crap out of several of our best guys, tried to steal the thing we're studying.. oh and he has a fake ID. But what the hell, let's just let him go." ::)

I learned that Norse Gods were sort of dicks.

To be fair, the Norse Gods were always kinda dickish. These are gods who used to amuse themselves by throwing dangerous objects at Baldur just to see if it would hurt him. And at Baldur's funeral (yeah, whoops), Thor drop kicked a dwarf into Baldur's funeral pyre. Remember, you're talking about a pantheon where Loki is the mom of Odin's horse.

Yes, what I just typed was correct.

I learned that the guys REALLY don't like AT&T. I counted three jokes at their expense in this riff.

Transformers : Decepticons :: Thor : God of Deceit (for you SAT fans out there)

Good guys in movies really need to pay more attention to the other guys' names

Something else I learned, one of the riffs is a deleted line from the script.

The riff: During the scene where Thor beats up the SHIELD guys at the hammer site the computer guy's talking about the storm and Kevin's line is, "Oh, and I think we're sterile now."

The script: At the diner when the locals are talking about the hammer one of them mentions how it could be radioactive. The next line (in the movie he gets interrupted by Thor) is, "I'm probably sterile now."

There's actually a lot of tacky jokes they left out. We should be thankful.

I noticed that a lot of the deleted scenes on the BluRay were tacky attempts at humor or just really bad scene setups that don't feel like they even fit with the movie as finished. Glad they got cut.

I learned when Chris Hemsworth stars in a movie, I'm too blinded by my ladyboner to see how bad his acting really is. Thanks Rifftrax.

Perhaps your ladyboner is a spellchecker.

One of its many talents.

I learned that there are Asian Norse gods.

And African ones.

Sorry, but I gotta make a gratuitous Quiptracks quote here:

"So, are there Asian Vulcans?" Voyager, Eye of the Needle

Yes, but the duration is entirely random. It could be FOREVER, or it could be about six hours.

i can imagine a marvel version of "dont wake daddy" coming out of that.

I just had a vision of a plastic, super-cartoonized version of that and it looks epic (in my head). I would totally mock one up, but, even tho I have a fair amount of technical skill to pull random things off, that one goes far beyond my technical prowess.

Asgard exists on the edge of the Discworld.  Gotta love it for that alone.

Apparently, when immortal beings from another dimension visit New Mexico, the resultant rift in the fabric of space & time is so disruptive, it takes roughly six hours to drive 50 miles...
