Title: ICWXP - Preview from the Next [Made for TV] Episode!
Post by: Rikk Wolf on June 08, 2011, 01:37:08 PM
Hey guys and gals (there's gals here right?  Hide the comics!).

Just wanted to pop by and share this link to a clip from our upcoming episode.  We've put a lot of time and the money from your support into making the show the very best it can be.  Our goal is to make it good enough for television (which is a pretty low bar these days, but still!).

Please comment on the actual YouTube page if you can, and be sure to watch in HD for the full effect.

http://www.youtube.com/v/ddEbSRNis-Q?hd=1

Back to work for me!

Cheers!
Rikk

Looks neat, Rikk, certainly TV-quality in production value.

That's my Pop!

We're hoping to have this episode on DVD by the end of July or early August.

We were just contacted by YouTube asking if we'd like to become a revenue-shared account holder because of the "popularity" of the "Rough Cut" preview, and a YouTube partnership is obtainable if people keep circulating it.  Please re-post the clip wherever possible and thank you all!

Oh man, it's only a matter of time before movie riffing makes it's way back onto television and with the MST3K groups not pushing for it and not even that interested in it it will likely be one of us iRiffers who makes the break and with groups like ICWXP so far ahead of the pack it won't be me!  If any groups do make it will you please hire me for your show?

I'd suggest courting FX as they are more open to user-submitted material ever since "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" became a hit.  I seem to remember they even had a contest where they let anyone pitch anything to the network several years ago.  Just about any cable network would love to have a show that fills two hours and is prepared to tap into a preexisting fanbase.  Like I said, it's only a matter of time.

Thanks.

So whoever makes it first is going to hire me right?...right?

You could also try the Oprah Network.   :)  Any new network really.  G4 and Reelz are also good candidates.

Word travels fast.  We're going to do all we can to make this next episode special, but it's hardly how we want to go out.  The story sets up tons of new characters and premises for subsequent episodes, and we'd want to riff a full length for our swan song, of course.

These fraudulent loans are going to completely choke me out financially, so unless some kind of miracle happens, it's hard for me to imagine a way to fund more.  I'm still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping something will work out, though.  Perhaps Episode 201 will sell more than any previous episode and have a longer shelf life, maybe we'll get some private investors or some kind of web-tv deal.

One way you can help is spreading that video like wildfire, so thank you Richard.  There's also a support group for scammed students here - http://www.facebook.com/aifraud  (http://www.facebook.com/aifraud)

I'm hoping for the best, but as of right now, things don't look too good.

Hope you talk to an attorney and see if a class action lawsuit may be in the works against AI.. :-\

My student loans (from my local university) are like a friggin albatross for me as well and unless I can find some way to bring in more income (hitting the lottery would do it), they will be with me for eternity :-[

I've actually spoken to many attorneys and because of the fine print in the school's enrollment agreement, once you sign, you're throwing away your right to sue them.  New laws have passed regarding class action suits and it's become nearly impossible to get one going now, especially with the way they word their agreement.

Every lawyer I've spoken to has told me there's virtually nothing students can do to defend themselves.  You just have to pay.

ditto man that really sucks. and that agreement, does the fact that you're not allowed to sue continue indefinitely or only for the period of time you're enrolled with the school?  well anyway it may not cover everything but you know you got support here on the interwebs. and this stuff has the hilarity, production values and downright badassness that make it deserving to be on tv, so i hope you guys get there. on an unrelated not nice to see you guys have an on set chainsaw ready and gassed up at all times ahaha. good luck, and stand tall and rock the heavens.

I'm unfamiliar with Kickstarter, but I will check it out as soon as our session here is done this evening (we just finished recording our riffs for Episode 202 - Soapy the Germ Fighter, and riff writing passes at the next two episodes after).

Thank you sincerely and personally for your support guys, it means a lot to me.  I plan to fight tooth and nail to keep it going, but it's going to be rough.

I'm hoping my ace in the hole comes through with some legal course of action.  There is quite a crowd of angry, cheated students rallying online.

let the hammer of justest slam down upon thee

WASHINGTON—The Justice Department and four states on Monday sued Education Management Corp., alleging the operator of for-profit colleges falsely certified that it was eligible to participate in federal student loan programs.

The legal complaint came in a false-claims lawsuit that was originally filed by two of the company's former employees.

A federal judge in Pittsburgh, where the company is based, unsealed the lawsuit in May after the Justice Department indicated that it planned to intervene in the case.

The department said the company's compensation system for its admissions personnel violates the federal Higher Education Act because admissions employees are paid based on how many students they recruit. The law prohibits schools from paying admissions officials bonuses, commissions or other incentives based on their success in enrolling students. The provision is designed to discourage schools from enrolling unqualified students and taking advantage of the federal funds they bring.

Bonnie Campbell, legal adviser to Education Management, said in a statement that the lawsuit's claims were "flat-out wrong."

"EDMC's 2003 compensation plan followed the law in both its design and implementation, as EDMC's response to the governments' complaint will show," Ms. Campbell said.

Because Education Management's compensation system doesn't comply with the law, the claims that its schools made for payment under the federal programs were false, the department alleged.

The federal student loan programs provide students with Pell Grants and loans guaranteed by the federal government.

The department said Education Management and students enrolled in its institutions have received more than $11 billion in federal funds since 2003.

The department didn't specify how much money it is seeking. California, Florida, Illinois and Indiana joined the federal government's complaint.

Education Management's schools include the Art Institutes, Argosy University and Brown Mackie College.

The Justice Department sent a powerful message last week when it filed suit against the nation’s second-largest for-profit college company, charging it with fraudulently collecting $11 billion in federal student financial aid from 2003 through June 2011.

The suit against the Education Management Corporation, which enrolls about 150,000 students in more than 100 schools, puts the for-profit sector on notice that the government is at last prepared to move decisively against the unscrupulous conduct that appears to be all too common in the industry.

The Education Management case began in 2007 when two former employees of the company filed a lawsuit charging that the company had knowingly defrauded the government by illegally paying recruiters based on the number of students they enrolled. Federal rules that forbid incentive compensation are supposed to discourage companies from recruiting unqualified students for their federal student aid dollars.

Earlier this year, the Justice Department took the unusual step of saying that it would join the whistle-blower lawsuit, which described a “boiler room” atmosphere in which recruiters sought out poorly prepared students who had no chance of graduating.

The Justice Department’s complaint, filed jointly with California, Florida, Illinois and Indiana, asserts that schools operated by Education Management falsely certified that they were complying with the law to make themselves eligible to receive student aid. The suit was filed under the False Claims Act that provides for triple damages, which could be as much as $33 billion in this case.

The for-profit schools are fighting a new Department of Education rule that will eventually cut off federal education aid to programs whose graduates end up saddled with debt they cannot repay. Having taken a strong stand, the Obama administration must now hold the line against lobbying pressure from this troubled industry that clearly needs more regulation, not less.

EDMC, which is the parent company of The Art Ainstitutes, is being being sued due to an investigation that began in 2008 of their unlawful recruiting practices. Here’s what The Huffington Post is reporting:

“The U.S. Justice Department and four states sued the nation’s second-largest for-profit college corporation on Monday, alleging in a wide-ranging complaint that Education Management Corp. violated federal laws by giving bonuses and raises to college recruiters based entirely on the number of students they enrolled.”

If you have seen any of the 100+ comments on the article about the Pros and Cons of The Art Institute Online, then this probably comes as no surprise.

Numerous students have commented about the “predatory” tactics of recruiters from The Art Institute that have coerced them into getting financial aid and signed up for classes quickly. This investigation reveals why that was the case.

If The Art Institutes do successfully get sued by the government, does that mean that the government and lawyers will benefit from it financially and not the students who were the ones directly affected? How do you feel about all of this?

Thanks for posting all that.  Helps get the word out.

I've actually spoken personally to Chris Kirkham of The Huffington Post and some of the lawyers helping the DOP fight EDMC about the pitiful curriculum taught at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

It is absolutely fantastic news that the DOP is finally stepping in to at least attempt to bring the criminals at EDMC to justice, but any winnings in the case will enter back into the government's general treasury, which means not a dime will go to the cheated students.   :-\

Basically, EDMC is only in trouble for illegally awarding government money to its recruiters for getting students enrolled.  What happens to those students is of little concern, at least in this case.

At best, it calls the company's already shady character into question, but doesn't do much to directly help students that attended there, some of which I've spoken to are facing homelessness.

the last thing i heard is  that EDMC could  go  bankrupt.

Quote
The current suit against EDMC stands the possibility of bankrupting the company. Worst-case liability for the company exceeds several times EDMC's market capitalization and is at least an order of magnitude greater than the company's TTM earnings. Even a comparatively benign outcome for EDMC could see several years of earnings wiped away in a judgment. As always, the lengthy nature of litigation and the fact that the suit is still in the very earliest stages could force EDMC shorts to wait awhile before they see any gains.

Welp, I have to say the most I've see of any episode, unfortunately, is one sample clip that was up on the site.  However, I know what it's liked to be scammed (though not nearly for such a criminally high amount of money), and just looking at the set up you guys have for your show is leaps and bounds above the microphone and voice modulation stuff I use for my own work, so I simply say, point me to where I can donate (or otherwise help out), and I'll do what I can.  Nobody should have to quit working on a dream just because of piece of paper...a very expensive piece of paper.

Other than Facebook liking, though, the Kickstarter page doesn't seem to have a whole lot to click on for visitors...

Nothing happens to it.  It was never raised to begin with.  You are only charged or have the money taken out after they've reached their goal.  If they fail to reach the goal then the money never leaves the donors.  Or to put it another way, you would be refunded.  You can check the site's FAQ if I'm not being clear enough but what I'm trying to communicate is that if they don't reach their goal the money would never even leave your hands.  No one will get it.

Well Hell!  I was stopping by to plug the fundraiser, but you amazing fellahs beat me to it!

We're at $830 at the moment.  For only our first full day on Kickstarter, it's extremely encouraging.  I just hope it doesn't stall out because even $830 would be a tremendous help.

I'd like to personally thank you guys for donating, you truly are incredible people.

Rikk - have you thought about adding any lower-tier rewards? I'm not necessarily speaking personally, but I'd think that you might get more nibbles from a casual KS browser if, say, you added a level that included just a downloadable copy of the new episode with a "digitally autographed" cast photo like the RT guys do after a live show, or something of that nature.

Glad to see you guys are already getting hits though! Hope it maxes out and then some!

I've actually been debating that.   I'm not at 100% that we'll be able to offer our stuff as downloads, as I haven't found a service to let us do that.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!  You'd think with a name like e-junkie their graphics would include more glow sticks.

Their storage space is a bit pricey methinks, but that may just be the going rate.  Can any of you fine gentlemen tell me how big in file size our episodes are when you get them from iRiffs?

I only took a quick look over the site before I linked to it and I think they offer a service where you host the files and they provide the expirable links.

I'd love to be able to join in on the Kickstarter but I've had so many problems come up lately that I'm not sure if I'd have whatever I pledged when the time comes to pay up. Hopefully it makes it close enough to what you need by the last week so I can figure out if I have enough money to make sure you guys can continue doing what you've been doing. I mean no offense by this, but while I've only found your release to range from "okay" to "pretty good" I absolutely love your commitment to making a whole show out of it. So, here's hoping that my car stops having problems and everything goes smoothly for the next month or so.

My apologies if some of the previous statements made no sense, for I have had a few to drink.

By the way, if we started making Blu-Ray versions of our episodes available, would you guys buy them?

Personally, I don't own a Blu-Ray player and can only name one other person who does.  I'm trying to get a good estimate on how many we'd actually sell.

It would be nice to offer a version where we don't have to down-convert the show from HD to SD and lose all that beautiful resolution (especially with how much better the show looks with this new release).  However, it's only worth it if people will buy Blu-Ray.

Lemme know!

I can't speak for anyone else, but if given a choice, I much prefer Blu-ray.  Even if it is a little more, my TV and player have spoiled me greatly.

Most Riffing DVDs really do not benefit from BluRay due to the source of the movie and the lack of HD equipment used in filming...... however your stuff is an exception and I would be all over BluRays.

Well there's two copies we could move, ha ha.

Thanks for chiming in so fast, fellahs!  I'm thinking I might have to invest in a Blu-Ray player.

We could only afford to offer BD-R discs, but they'd be top of the line AAA from Discmakers with full color art printed thereon, not bogus discs off the shelf from Wal-Mart.

I understand.  It is rather unorthodox to release individual episodes to DVD when they're around 45 mins. long, but we just can't afford to wait to release them in bigger collections.  However, I think we'd not charge much more for Blu-Ray, probably just a few bucks.

Love, the banner by the way, Doggans.

Awesome, well we might do a limited run on Blu-Rays.

You can now pre-order Episode 201 at this link - http://www.icwxp.com/Merch/201ProductPage.html (http://www.icwxp.com/Merch/201ProductPage.html)

We've already sold about 24 in the two hours it's been available, but the remaining 26 pre-orders will ship for free and with a free copy of the new ICWXP comic book (the comic may ship separate a few days later, though).

Thanks guys!

Well, I'm already in it for the donation...why not a pre-order, too (at least, if by the time I type this, I'm not too late...looks like I'm okay currently, though).

EDIT: Oh, nuts.  Was this for the Blu, then, or just the DVD?  Dang it, now I'm confused.  I may have inadvertently pre-ordered a second DVD (the first being the Kickstarter funding one, should it hopefully succeed) by mistake with no autograph on it.

Ah, well.  I know some people whose birthdays I owe presents to, so maybe this'll be a nice surprise.

It definitely seems to be snow balling thanks to all the donations coming in now.  This is very exciting.

Not sure what, if anything, could come of it, but we may use some of this money to hire an agent to solicit the show to Adult Swim, or some web-based outlet.  At the very least a hardcore online marketing campaign.

Careful, you don't pay agents.  They take a percentage of your earnings after the fact.  Any agent who asks for money up front is a scammer and a fraud.  There is an invaluable book called "The Screenwriter's Bible" that discusses this in-depth.  But that is partly why it is so hard to break in the business in the first place.  You first have to convince an agent that your are worth an investment and then you have to turn around and convince the people you want to hire you that you are worth an investment.  It's tough.

Also, I'm not sure if this still so true, (probably still is when trying to sell screenplays, don't know about shows) but supposedly you are not suppose to send "unsolicited" materiel to anybody.  First you send a letter telling them what you want to pitch to them and then if they are interested you can send the product in or have a meeting or whatever.  This is also true when trying to score an agent.

Remember on Facebook one of you said you would hire me if you got your own show.  Don't limit yourself to one network, pitch everywhere!

Indeed.  One of the first things I read when researching the topic.  Thanks for reinforcing it.

We have a hard decision to make, and I'd like your guys' input.

Every time we finish an episode, we pay Discmakers $880 to replicate 1,000 discs (the bare minimum they will allow).  This is costly and leaves us with a few 100 more discs than we actually need.  However, they are made from glass masters and are guaranteed to play in every device out there.

We wanted to invest in our own duplicator for $1,325 so we can stop having to pay $880 every episode on top of production costs.  However, this means using DVD-Rs or DVD+R DLs, which even with us investing in the best blank discs money can buy, may not play in older DVD players.   However, we won't have more discs than we need and we'll save a lot of money in the long run.  We did the first Episode on DVD-Rs and out of 100s we only got three reports of duds (two of which were just because the person was trying to play them on an ancient DVD player).

But it sure would be rotten if we got a network looking at our stuff and their disc won't play.  lol

So what I'd like to know is how you guys feel about DVD-Rs and what it is you watch DVDs on?  How old is it?  What it is?

Thanks fellers!

VLC certainly rocks the body that rocks the party in my opinion.  Never had it reject anything for playback.

Alright, so that's one person that doesn't care if we use DVD-Rs.  lol

You could look into Amazon's Createspace service for DVD selling and marketing.  Josh Way uses it and the discs are made to order.  I just did a quick search on Amazon and you guys don't appear to be on there.  Even if you don't use Creatspace but instead just try and sell your stuff on Amazon those extra discs may have a home after all and it could really help your exposure.

But overall I don't think you will have many issues if you use DVD-Rs.  Certainly not from the network people.  They would have equipment from this century that would play the discs.

Yeah, I think in this day and age you won't have a problem using DVD-Rs. Anyone whose player is too old to play them probably wouldn't be watching a zombie-themed riffing project in the first place. :P

"Why in my day we didnt have those fancy dvd players you got nowadays. in my day, you had to turn the disc by hand and let the tubes warm up when you started it up."

XD  Nice one!

We asked on Facebook and most everyone said the DVD-Rs would work for them.

My big concern is someone jazzed to see the new episode popping in a DVD-R from us and it not reading for them.   :-\

We plan to get set up on Amazon / CreateSpace, yes.

So far, the only use for the surplus of discs we've come up with is handing them out in jewel cases at cons and sending them to fans willing to hand them out to people likely to enjoy the show.

Yeah, I think in this day and age you won't have a problem using DVD-Rs. Anyone whose player is too old to play them probably wouldn't be watching a zombie-themed riffing project in the first place. :P

What he said.   Also, i cannot imagine anyone reviewing your show for pick up would be foiled by a DVD-R. (well, maybe some from the lifetime network).

As far as ways to move your surplus DVDs......eBay, comicon, etc are venues.

Other options.....

1.  Would any local comic book or local video stores stock your merchandise?
2.  Halloween season is here.......same for any local costume or party supply places?
3.   CheesyFlix sells MST3K related DVDs, maybe contact them about listing and selling yours?

That's actually a couple of great ideas there with the comic book stores and you can actually already grab Episodes 2-4 on CheesyFlix!  Michael's been a joy to work with.

Well, I'm off - we're shooting the closing scene of Episode 202 tonight!

Thank you for the incredible support, everyone.  It looked iffy at times, but we made it with some bonus!  I simply can't put into words how grateful we all are.  Hopefully bringing you the best ICWXP we can will say how much we appreciate it.

1.  how does the kick starter campaign affect ICWXP

We won't go broke now!  There's a very serious and very awful thing making its way toward my assets next month (you'll likely be hearing more on that from yours truly through a VERY major outlet soon).

2.   are there other plans for  more fundraisers

Nothing in particular at the moment.  If things go the way we'd like around here, we may never need you guys to donate again.  But it's likely we'll have another one.

3. are you going to branch out to other fund sites

If need be!  I'm not aware of others aside from Kickstarter.com at the moment, if any has any suggestions I'm all ears.

4.  did you ever consider showing  the bots hacking into the evil corporation (forgot the name) data base and to their horror see all the movies  thy might haft to suffer trough. >:D

There's another site much like Kickstarter called IndieGoGo (http://www.indiegogo.com/). The advantage to them is that even if you don't make your entire campaign, you still get what's pledged. Sometimes a little is better than none, amirite?

My copy arrived yesterday!

Great stuff. I think I liked the story segments even more than the riffing (although that could just be the unbearable dullness of the target short itself). At this point, you appear have higher production value than MST3K ever did, even in The Movie.

Can't wait for the next episode! "Soapy" is a crazy enough short even without riffing, so I look forward to your take!

It was quite a snoozer.  We would've used Soapy, but I felt it too demented to launch Season 2 with.

High praise!  I'm so glad people seem to like it so far!  Thank you for buying, friend.   ;D

Hey David.  The comic actually came out being twice as long as intended and is getting wrapped up as we speak.  I'm hoping to have it in people's hands by the end of the month.  Filming for Episode 202 and looking for a new place to base Agonywolf Media out of has delayed things.

why the move?

It's not something you'll often see evidence of, but AWM is stuffed into a third of what used to be a barn and is actually in a hayfield in a middle of nowhere town called Plattburg, Missouri.

It's a huge drag for people to drive out here and a lot of my own money and the show's dollar goes to paying gas bills, but the list of additional reasons is a mile long.

Ha ha, yes it is always a look of shock on anyone's face when they discover we shoot in Plattsburg.  I actually grew up here and have the gangsta rap-loving, cerebrally vacant high schoolers of the 90's that I went to school with here to thank for turning me onto things to watch in spite of them like MST3K.

Another major reason for the move is the internet service here is a monopoly run by CenturyLink, and words fail to describe how abominably slow and criminally terrible their service is.  It took 23 hours to upload the new episode so you guys could download it (and that's JUST for the HD version). Bare in mind the service is so temperamental that you can't do anything else during an upload.  They've thrown this service area back to 1994 and I've come quite close to filing litigation against them on many occasions.

Get some pics, RVR!!

yeah but think about the problem mst3k and even rifftrax have with minutes of empty space. now imagine a full length movie of silence. i think once they build up more steam and experience they should try it, but not in the second season.

Hey David, we were forced to re-upload thanks to Adobe Premiere Pro rendering the final file with missing sound effects. It's currently re-uploading and has three & a half hours to go. Sorry for the inconvenience.

We're starting a moveon.org campaign to have Adobe Premiere's quality control team publicly executed.

...we're kidding. There's no way they have a quality control team.

We're happy (even giddy) to announce that ICWXP is on the cusp of officially being shopped to major television networks. Keep your trigger fingers crossed (between fending off the undead hordes).

What network(s) do you think would fit the show best?

  :highfive: :D

You need a younger network that is desperate for programing. Somewhere you can stand out and be the star. Most cable places like Comedy Central or SyFy will pay for one season and try to stretch that out for three years only to cancel you for no good reason. They will keep you on the hook with half seasons while failing to exercise their option of ordering the remaining half of the season. Like seasons 9 and 10 of MST3K. You need somewhere that a show that takes up two hours feels like mana from heaven to the program scheduler.  Don't take this the wrong way but...I'm guessing this is going to be more of a beggars can't be choosers situation.

But most importantly you need to hire me for the show.   :)  Please.  I already live in MO, I just have to head north.

If they get picked up by a network before he does then they will be fine because they will be under the protection of the network's lawyers.  Since he is unlikely to care until they get picked up they should be fine.  They don't perfectly replicate Shadowrama and their name isn't anything like MST3K which are the only things he's ever successfully gone after people for.  It has already been established that he doesn't own the concept of moving riffing.  I'm not saying he won't try, in fact I'm sure he will, but he will most likely end up bleeding tons of money for no gains.  The worst that could happen is that they change some things about the show.

Title: Re: ICWXP - Preview from the Next [Made for TV] Episode!
Post by: mr.b.natural on July 26, 2012, 05:38:15 PM
I'd say the bigger risk is after they get a show, it is eventually cancelled, then what happens to the brand?  Will the network own it and not allow them to continue on their own?  Very possible.  Right now if they want on TV that badly it is the networks that's holding all the cards.

1.

Hey Zach.  Honestly, the worry of what Mallon can do has not been even the slightest concern for the production company we're currently in negotiations with.  Hopefully it stays that way.  I'm not naive enough to believe we won't have to deal with him at some point but personally - I'm hoping he'll be willing to work with us to bring riffing back to television and put to rest his reputation among fans.

Cheers,
Rikk

of course there is still buzz kills out there

Well, the likelihood of a Network picking up the full length version of the show is regrettably slim, but we'll see!  We may have to prove ourselves in the ratings before we're given a pricey two hour block.

On the topic of MST3K copyright issues:

At present, there's no cause for concern. The awesome people we're working with currently aren't worried about it and it has not yet come up in our official discussions.

However, we are fully aware of the ominous situations that have arisen in the past and do understand that it's a bridge that we'll undoubtedly have to cross if things continue to progress.

When we originally set out to pay tribute to MST3K with one or two homemade episodes, we never expected to still be doing it five years later and at the level we are now. Nor did we expect to be presented with the possibility of returning the art of riffing to television.

Although, because that is how we got our start, the format of a narrative yet comedic story wrapped around movie commentary is what our foundation is. It's what we know how to do and what we enjoy doing. You guys have made this all happen and you guys wield great power because you're the ones that support us.

To summate - we're just going to have to wait and see what happens if a Network bites. If there are legal troubles, hopefully they can be sorted out to make everyone happy and allow us to continue to make you lovely folks giggle on a national scale.

There's just no telling at this point. All we know is we're all very excited and thankful that you guys have carried us to this point.

Oh, and reportedly, we're not as off the radar as one might think when it comes to some MST3K alumni. ;)

The parody of growing up in the 80's nerd rage was great.

Loved the music as always, NEED the theme as a ringtone or something.

Would prefer much more riffing though.

Ep 6 is up!

I actually have had to double check to see if I pre-ordered a few episodes by the time they're about to be released.  But hey, I can't complain when the product is as good as it is.  I'd rather they take their time and have it be awesome than a rush job that's half-assed.
Ok so Ep. 205 has Not been released yet?

And some answers!:

Well that does answer some questions I had..
Still no ETA on 205 but it sounds like 206 could come out not long after 205 becomes available (at least that's what I gather) so that sounds promising :o

A couple more Resident Evil eps:

And an entertaining playthrough of Mega Man 1:

And starting Demon's Crest:

I'm always sad when I look at the view counts.

They've riffed an hour and a half of the new Resident Evil remake on their youtube channel.  Watching a video game riff (a Let's Play) isn't for everyone, but I enjoyed it:

After more than a year, Resident Evil is finally complete (seven hours and meaty to the end):

I wish they'd stop trying to give Cecil B. DeMille a run for his money and just shoot some damned shows. Not the bizarre mess season two turned out to be, with the bulk of the "show" focusing on them and their story and only riffing a few shorts. No, just give us more like season one, with an intro and a few breaks, but mostly them silhouetted and riffing movies. Hell, look at the YouTube stuff by way of example. Twelve "episodes" for one video game. That was enough screen time to riff three or four entire films!

I'd even be happy if they just did audios for us to sync. It'd be great to hear them riffing blockbusters that way, especially now that RiffTrax has all but abandoned that arena for lousy public domain flicks that they can turn a larger profit on. I don't blame them for that decision, but honestly, I rarely laugh at the VODs. Riffed or not, most of them are just painfully boring, and half the time I find myself switching them off and firing up one of the old blockbusters I've watched a dozen times before (Fever Lake? Yawn... think I'll watch Thor again). There's a vacuum now, and I'd love to see ICWXP be the ones to fill it.

Yeah, I sort of gave up on them after one episode of that

Now they're doing the new Hitman game, which is episodic, so each vid should hold together better than RE:

I empathize but . . . I'm kinda thrilled with it.  I also miss regular riffs of blockbusters (http://forum.rifftrax.com/index.php?topic=30374.msg891005#msg891005) because that's what I always wished for during MST3K and my dream came true for a few precious years with Rifftrax.  But for me, video games are as big a source of entertainment as movies (and I'm not alone: the VG industry dwarfs Hollywood in revenue), and I'm excited to have high-quality riffs of them (from a group I consider at least on par with MKB).  That's a bit of a "humor vacuum" too, and it opens up the opportunity do goofy stuff in the game (which can't happen with movies)  And copyright issues haven't (yet) ruined it all.

I know, I can't believe it right? Now just to wait until 2026 for 206.

The story segments didn't do it for me, but at least the riffing was on point.

If they produce a product more frequently, I will still buy their stuff ..
But as long as it took for 205 to get done, I was starting to lose interest :-\

I'm talking about their original works.

That's what I'm hearing.  It does sound for all the world like MST3Kreboot is successfully doing to riffing what the Fine Brothers tried & failed to do to "react" videos (if you followed that fiasco).

While we ARE full steam ahead with a new non-riffing concept, per your suggestions... we're gonna see if ICWXP can live on Netflix competitors and Roku.

I mean, screw it, right?

now we will see if how much of a jerk mst3k is.

UPDATE: Looks like we can indeed get our stuff out there.

It won't be through any kind of prestigious process like working directly with a label like Shout! Factory to launch right on the front page of a streaming service but if we are approved through Distribber - we'll be on pretty much everything.

Two catches:

1.) We have to raise about $1,600 we don't have.

2.) We need to be able to provide closed captions or our chances are significantly reduced.

Oi.
