Lost had a great score, although I don't know if I could listen to it without the context of the show.

One score I can listen to without the show though, is Carnivale by Jeff Beal.  I loved the show when it was on, and the music was but one of the highlights.

Lost's score is just about my favorite. It's hard to hear some of those songs without getting emotional.

Invader Zim's music is great and also very unique. The soundtrack was only briefly available as a promotion, but I bought it and listened to it CONSTANTLY. I was a massive Zim fan at the time.

Cowboy Bebop also deserves a huge mention.

So the soundtrack release of the music for the DC Showcase shorts that The Track Team (the composers for Avatar: The Last Airbender) did comes out tomorrow. La-La Land is notorious for not putting any page up for their releases until the day of the release, but here's the press release: http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/news.php/news.php?action=fullnews&id=1005

Seriously, everyone go buy this. It may be limited to 1,000 copies, but if they all sell out, that might help convince Nick to allow a score release of TTT's music for Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Watching the Prisoner, which has a pretty good soundtrack.  Mostly it's the opening, but there is some good in show stuff.

Funny you mention Jeff Beal...I was just listening to the Monk soundtrack album. It's all season one stuff, so it only has the perky instrumental guitar theme and not the Randy Newman theme, but it's a solid score with some great pieces.

But if we're just talking opening themes...was there ever a catchier (or more distinct) TV composer than Mike Post? :D

You do realize that Imrahil said we could discuss TV scores on the film score thread, right?
