Title: Obligatory Lowtax riff review
Post by: MarkAndrew on February 05, 2007, 09:39:27 AM
...and my take is...he didn't suck.
I know, damning with faint praise and all that.
He started off a bit wrong footed, but he really warmed to the commentary.
He also delivered his lines fine, sounding like Bill sometimes...which was odd but not unpleasant.

One of the thinks I like most about Mike with Bill and Kevin is the back and forth between them.  Naturally, with Lowtax, that wasn't present, but there were no awkward pauses or lack of chemistry.

I'm still not likely to head back to SA forums.
However, on the whole, I give Lowtax an 'Attaboy' and a 'Well done'.

Kevin Murphy got a new voice??

Well, he had to give it back to Josh Weinsten eventually.

I thought Lowtax did a good job too. It didn't take long for me to get used to him. The only thing that bugged me was at the end when he ranted about hoe there were no 'actual' trolls in the movie. But other then that, he was good.

I'm not going to analyze Rich Kyanka's skills as a riffer too deeply.  I'll just say that for a first time riffer, he did an acceptable job.  He made me laugh, and for that I give him this:

Fletch.

There is a long overdue special edition DVD coming out on May 1st.

Universal Home Video has today announced a special edition of  Fletch which stars Chevy Chase, Tim Matheson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The "Jane Doe" Edition will be available to own from the 1st May, and should set you back around $19.98 in total. The film itself will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. The extra material has yet to be revealed I'm afraid, but we'll bring you further details very shortly. For now though, here's the artwork:

Teen Wolf has one of the most politically incorrect moments ever.
Some of you might remember the scene where Stiles, Teen Wolf's crazy friend, is searching for some weed in his garage.

Scott Howard (teen wolf): Styles, I got something to tell you. It's kind of hard, but...
Stiles: Look, don't tell me you're a fag because if you tell me you're a fag, I don't think I can handle it.
Scott Howard: I'm not a fag. I'm... a werewolf.

With a movie like Teen Wolf, if he would've been a "fag" it would've been in the title:

Teen-Fag Wolf!

I don't know.  Something about those pants make me question why he can't handle fags.  Has he just been with too many of them recently?

Hooray!  Fletch is easily my favorite Chevy Chase movie, and I've been wondering if a special edition would ever come out.

Kind of makes me laugh that they bill Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as a star.  Hee.

Also, I thought Lowtax did a good job.  Good job!

Hmm...how about....Teen Were-Fag?  Y'know, like...he's gay, but only when there's a full moon out.

When you're gay, there's always a full moon out.  That's one of the chief benefits.

Sorry to get back on track here, but are they going to update the "Meet The Riffers!" section of the main site with a Lowtax biography? I always assumed that Rifftrax would eventually have a whole host of riffers, and that that would be the place to get a little info on who's who~

Good idea Rude.

I wonder if this should be posted this in the Feedback section?

I'd like to see the entire list of riffers too.

I thought Rich did a very good job on Troll2.  Isnt he the only one outside the "Mst3K gang" to do any riffs with either Mike or Joel?    I know that "Pearl" did some riffing on on episode, but I dont recall any "outsider".

If Rich has another favorite dog film, I would like to hear him again.

Yeah he's the first non MST3K guy to join as a riffer.

That's pretty funny. That said I actually don't like his voice to much...It's a bit too "eddy deezen" for my taste.. Now I know that's harsh, but I like Kevin and Bill so far. I'm not opposed to new voices either, just didn't care much for his...

Lowtax was alright.  He seemed a little nervous at first, but eventually got into it.  I personally thought that Mike pretty much carried the whole thing, that  Lowtax's biggest contribution was giving mike someone to bounce stuff off of.  But he did get a couple of good lines in.
