Title: Axe Cop is recommended by Bill and Kevin
Post by: Edgewriter on February 15, 2010, 03:56:25 PM
Both Bill and Kevin tweeted about Axe Cop over the weekend (seems the illustrator is a fan of both of them BTW) and it was one of the best links they ever sent. You must check it out. A comic written by a 5-year-old and illustrated by his very talented older brother.

It is genius.

Well as a fox, you obviously have the power to cause tables to come to life and do your bidding. Duh.

Oh yeah, it just gets better as you go.

Funny how this whole thing just started over the holidays. The kid's brother that draws the comic has done a great job promoting it. The site is beautiful and it is fun. Now following Axe Cop on twitter.

Axe Cop has no time for love because he doesn't sleep. Night time is the best time to kill bad guys because they are sleeping.

Somehow I must have missed those tweets so thanks for posting this because it's one of the greatest things I've ever seen.  Even though I'm sure Malachi didn't intend it to be, it actually seems like a really spot-on parody of the absurdity of superhero comics.  I especially loved the part when they go to the big filing cabinet that says "Maps to Bad Guy's Labs"  :D

I had to post and say thanks and hello... I'm Ethan the guy that draws Axe Cop.  I have actually been a member of this forum for a while now, I just rarely post.  I LOVE me some Riff Trax and MST3K.

That's some good work you do there, make sure you pass our best on to Malachai too.

Yeah, tell him he's the awesomest five year old brother ever. Seriously. So awesome.

agreed. The kid is a gem. I can't wait for more from this comic. Hopefully it will continue for several years and we will see an evolution of sorts. Be fun to go back when he is in his late teens and show him this once he's forgotten all about it and see his reaction.

My only disappointment is that there's not a trace of the men's cologne of the same name to be seen.  :(

So apparently Axe Cop is going to be a real comic published through Dark Horse Comics: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/07/15/axe-cop-dark-horse-comics-exclusive/ (http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/07/15/axe-cop-dark-horse-comics-exclusive/)

This comic is the greatest thing ever.  Malachi is awesome.

I think my new favorite creation in this comic is the Laser Scotts.

Dr. McNinja is almost as strange as Axe Cop, except it's written by an adult.

AXE cop wasn't bad. I laughed quite a bit.  My only complaint is that it wasn't written by Malachai at least according to the credits. So adults trying to write as an 8 year old is kinda cheating in my book but I will watch the other episodes.

Dead-on the money. However, I only chuckled once or twice.

It definitely...lacked the spontaneous make-believe silliness that only a 5-6 year old could make up for a plot.

I'm afraid I sense death following this series. I'll watch one more and see.

Television writing credits are only given to the person who actually put the writers room's ideas into script form, so it's POSSIBLE that all the insanity still came from Malachai, and the other writers just structured it. But I don't know for certain.
