Title: Stingers
Post by: Piobman on April 25, 2009, 09:12:33 PM
Okay... I'm looking for a good twilight stinger. I watched the movie... and nothing jumped out at me as a really good stinger. Everything was just so friggin' boring in this movie!

About the only thing I can think of is the sparkly scene. Maybe one of the many scenes where the two idiot lovers are looking back and forth at each other and saying nothing.

Line!

"This is the skin of a killer." Ridiculous line AND sparkly vampire.

Seconded! I know I keep mentioning it, but it's so darned hilarious.

I added the bit at the end with bella looking like she was going to hurl.

The stupid apple thing.

I forgot about that one! I think it was to show off his baseball catching skills.

Maybe "Why don't you buckle YOUR seatbelt?"

or that Asian kid-  "It's a worm," and laughing.

Yeah, that's a good one, too. As it just comes out of the middle of nowhere and has nothing to do with anything (A Big-Lipped Alligator Moment!)

I vote for "It's a worm! ha ha ha ha ha!"

I'm always torn between random-ass "Rock and Roll Martian" type stingers (here, the worm thing) and "this encapsulates the stupidity of this film like no other moment" (here, "This is the skin of a killer").

I guess I go with whichever made me laugh more and here "This is the skin of a killer" was the clear winner for me.

So how would one go about actually merging this stinger on to a DVD project?

I've put Youtube clips into my menus twice (I added Quentin Tarantino's thing about homosexual metaphors in Top Gun to that movie, and added Schnappi to Jurassic Park), but I had to do it in a ridiculously convoluted way:

1) Download the file in MP4 (iPod) format with DVD Video Soft's Free Youtube to iPod Converter.
2) Use DVD Flick to turn the MP4 into a set of DVD IFO files.
3) Use DVD Shrink to turn those IFO files into an ISO image.
4) Use VirtualCloneDrive to mount that ISO image as a virtual DVD drive.
5) Use Rejig to rip the M2V video and AC3 audio for use in DVD Lab.

There has GOT to be a quicker way.

Ah, even without the commentary, I will now always hear, "A-ha!  I'm gay!" at this scene.  ;D  Thank you, RiffTrax!

How about Bella's dad with the rifle saying "Bring him in," or whatever it is that he says? It reflects a lot of our feelings about Edward.  ;D

Interestingly enough, I think that was the one part of the movie I actually liked.

I don't think that makes a good stinger, it was meant to be an actual joke.

Well it's a really cliched joke (Dad is trying to intimidate his daughter's boyfriend? You don't say...), that's something.

Agreed... its kind of a failed joke in my eyes. The dad seems to lack any kind of intimidation throughout the movie... so it doesn't work too well.

Probably because he's the only sorta-likable character in the whole movie.

Good point.... I'll also go along with saying the girl who pitches in the baseball game seemed to one of the few actors in the movie who didn't look stiff when delivering their lines (that and she didn't have some sort of nervous twitch).

Personally I'd go for one of Edward's cartoony running or climbing shots.

Yeah, the treadmill fast running up the hill darn near made me keel over laughing.

True -- but it has an unintentionally funny part to it too, when you consider how many of us actually WOULD like to shoot Edward.

I'd have to say the scene where the girl is at the hospital and suddenly starts stuttering like crazy.

The seat belt scene without question.

I'd go with Bella's dad tracing a halo around his head as his way of saying, "I'll be nice." If you take it out of context, as in just showed that part by itself, you'd be like, "Dude, what?"

I'M HARPO!

Obviously not the riff, but any shot of that guy and his face.

How about that really weird bit....(yeah, I know...that was the whole movie)

But the one where Dad's sitting at the kitchen table talking about how the Mom called and the new husband seems nice....

Make the stinger be the part where Bella is leaning on back on the counter, snorting and sputtering and then suddenly walking out without a word.

I mean it's "typical teenager" but it's still weird.   :)
