Doesn't seem like the thing that should hurt a Rifftrax score. I mean, bad movies are a cornerstone of the thing.

oddly enough, the me and my wife were thinking about this during Starwars V; that there hasn't been an awful movies in a while, they've pretty much all been blockbusters recently. I don't mind this, but as I always say, gotta mix things up once and a while, hell it could have been Ghost Rider.  :D

Well, there's bad movies and then there's bad movies...

I could tollerate most of MST3k's stuff, but I just had a hard time trying to simply watch this thing.. :-[

I gave it a 9. I don't think it could have possibly lived up to the insane hype that we were giving it, but it was definitely a solid trax. I actually like Twilight (I know, I know, get your guns ready) but I can certainly appreciate the sheer silliness of it all. There were just a few moments where I think riffs could have been put and they didn't happen, hence why it doesn't get the full 10.

I gave it a 9, but it was a very solid trax.  Maybe the sheer badness of the movie affected my vote.  Seriously, it's like if you took BTVS and removed the mythos, conflict, humor, and drama.  Oh, and strip away any element of female empowerment.  I have heard Ike Turner songs that were more pro-female.

I gave it a 10.

The guys really shine when they have such good source material.  I really felt like I was back in the MST3K days when the movie was so bad I really didn't care at all to be interrupted by the guys.

Holy sh%^ that movie sucks. I dont see how anyone could get through that movie without a rifftrax.

I gave it an 8, the guys get a 9 but a -1 for choice of movie. I feel bad because I said bad movies are good, but this one is too bad. It's up there with star wars holiday special. That had a good rifftrax and was funny, but was unbearable to watch, as was this movie.

Oh hell yeah, I loved the movie! I don't mean I love, loved the movie, but I loved it like I love Wurlwilf for MST. Perfect silly flick for a riffing.

I don't give grades in most of my reviews, but when I do, I grade on a curve. So giving this a 10 is high praise indeed. Hilarious trax, I was in stitches the whole time... My full review - Twilight (http://www.geocities.com/opheliaskiss01/MightyJack/MJ2/Rifftrax3.html#twilight)

Edit: I watched this twice today, laughed like mad both times. Still have zero problem with the movie. Bad, sure, but It's wonderfuly riffable.

Edit of the edit: I had to watch this the old fashioned way, the rifftrax player wouldn't work with it, in fact I couldn't get the movie to play on the computer at all. I got an error message that said the film has coding that was blocking my ability to watch it. (I have been able to watch everything else I rent) - What? Now this movie thinks it's too good for my computer?

I've spent the whole year avoiding Twilight---even before it came out, I didn't want any part of it, and when I found out nhow bad it was, I rejoiced that I narrowly escapes the bush.

Then I see those fatal words on top of the forum page: "Get TWILIGHT!!!"

Ugh........I thought, I can't sit through this movie, even for a rifftrax. Then I realized, hey, I sat through some of the worst movies ever made as MSTs----Merlin's Shop, Hobgoblins, Manos, and of course The Incredibly Strange.......Zombies----and now they're some of my favorite episodes.

So is this movie worth renting/borrowing/buying the riff? The comments so far have been ambiguous. Compared to the worst rifftrax movie ever made----the Star Wars Holiday Special----how is this?
Title: Re: Rank a Twilight!

Compared to the Holiday Special, Twilight's a bit lumpy and quite a bit Itchy...

(Personally speaking) I don't think Twilight was as bad as the holiday special

And yes, I'd recommend the Twilight RiffTrax (gave it a 10, I did) One of the best IMO

Hi-freakin-larious

Star Wars Holiday Special was so bad in a goofy way. Twilight is so bad in a boring way. The Rifftrax is hilarious, but to decide if you want to rent to movie, you have to compare the movie more to tripe like Crossroads, not SWHS.

See, I have the complete opposite reaction. That Holiday special is like a hot railroad spike shoved through my ana--- er.. It's just bad in a painful way. I can hardly sit through it.  While Twilight made me laugh even apart from the commentray (when Edward puts Bela on his back runs up the hill, I was laughing more at the scene than Bill's additions, thought that made it even more hysterical)

I buy any riff Mike, Kevin, and Bill do together.  ANY riff.  There is no movie or short so bad that I'd turn away from a Holy Trinity riff.

But this right here was my same reaction:

The only difference is that when I saw that I took a few tranquilizers, bought the bullet, and rented the damn thing.  So, from me to you, fellow Twilight avoider, buy this riff and rent the crappy movie.

ok, I got it and watched it and rated it: 10 for 10!! Fantastic riffing of a terrible movie that was perfect fodder for the Three Amigos---lots of cheesy action and pausing, and best of all TERRIBLE acting. Well there's going to be a different director for each sequel, and the cast is already under contract for some more movies. At this point, I think the money you pay for this movie would end up with Summit Entertainment.

Which I'm alright with, assuming The Hurt Locker is as good as everyone says it is.

Gave it a 9. Should've posted this right after I saw it. I've been less than impressed with Rifftrax as of late and I want to make sure I give credit where it's due. This was a really good riff. As much as I tried not to laugh with my mom in the room, "That's one powerful boner" was just too hilarious.  I loved the Ice on Mars riff, but Rifftrax pulled out all the stops on this one. It won by a ways, I'm afraid.

So here's what doesn't make sense:
People who are like "I don't want to watch this rifftrax because the movie is bad."
Did you ever in your life actually watch MST? Ever? No? Oh, I see. OK let me explain...

If you are lucky, three men will watch a movie and make funny, snarky, goofy, etc remarks and this makes the bad movie sit-through-able.

I NEVER would have seen 300 if they didn't make a rifftrax (this is the correct way to react:)  "I would have never watched Twilight if there had not been a rifftrax to accompany it," and so on...

You're welcome.

9/10.  The boys were very much on form for this one, and they needed to be.  That was a rough movie.

And now I've got to go watch it again for the second time in six hours, this time with one of the iRiffs. (*ahemRavenahem*)  Because there's no way I'm spending another day's rental fee on this thing.  I'll let you know if I survive the double-feature with my sanity in reasonably large pieces.  Geez, this movie is like Cthulhu:  to see it is to go mad ...

<timeslip>

... and I'm back.  And no, I don't think I survived the double-feature with my sanity intact.  It's the next morning, and I think I've finally discovered what a hangover feels like.  Saving a dollar sounded sooooo good in theory.

Ow.

I watched "Twilight" sans RiffTrax (...don't ask).  Now, I was expecting horrible, godawful drivel with much pandering to be had by all.  I know many will disagree, but I came to find out that I found the characters believable enough, the acting on par and the plot coherent (unlike most of this sentence).  The reason for this confession is so that I may ask.......

Do people find this RiffTrax a 9 or 10 because it appeases hatred for "Twilight" or would it still be as good if you felt indifferent about the movie?

The worse a movie the more I tend to enjoy the riffing.

I can certainly appreciate jokes on a movie I like, but it won't quite go... over the top.

And I completely disagree with your review. ;P

Well, I actually liked Kristen Stewart in another movie I saw her in a few years ago (Speak), and I thought NONE of the main cast even TRIED in this movie, except the extras and supporting characters (I think thats supposed to be reversed).  RT has done movies that I liked before (Star Trek 6, The Two Towers, Spiderman 2) and I didnt mind, its a different experience of watching with the guys' comments.

The sad part is, on the recommendation of a friend, I listened to the book as an audiobook about 2 months before the movie came out, and sadly, the movie is spot on.  I got about 95% of the way done, and couldnt make it.  The book was just as bad.  Youre certainly welcome to youre opinion about the movie, but it did, in my opinion, deserve the riffing.  My sister didnt read the book or really know anything about it, wanted to see it in the theater.  I was invited and declined, citing my bitterness over the book and she didnt end up going.  After watching Twilight and the Rifftrax, she thanked me for discouraging her.

Not to put down RT, but Twilight has millions of fans (god knows why) and it will do fine with or without us.  I was so horrified by the book, that I was happy they were going to RT the movie.  Its not one of my favorite trax, but its pretty damn good.  I wouldnt have been able to get through it without it.  But its an interesting question for others...

Even if I didn't know anything about Twilight and just sat down to watch the movie with rifftrax, I would still love it the same. I can look at things objectively. It was such bad acting and filmmaking overall, and had such good material for the rifftrax guys that it turned out hilarious. My annoyance with it's existence is beside the point. But that's just me. I personally rate this as the #2 best RT, just below SW Holiday Special.

And also keep in mind that Roadhouse is one of Mike's favorite movies (apparently) and yet Ive heard jokes throughout MST3K about it over the years and its one of the first RT's ever done.  I mean honestly, I think we ALL have a favorite movie thats pretty bad- one of mine is "Return of the Living Dead 2"- pretty campy, actually, self-aware and entertaining all at once.  I know its not "American Beauty" or anything, but its one I could watch a gazillion times.

I was a MSTie because of the jokes, the movies were there to give them something to work on but the movies themselves didn't mean much to me. Most of my riffing grades from MST to CT to Rifftrax are primarily driven by the humor. the amount of laughter I receive. There are always exceptions and sometimes a movie can grab too much of my attention (Casablanca). But generally (Which leads to..).

watched this again last night and Christ my sides hurt. Big laughs, I mean big barrel, shake the rafter type laughter. Yeah it earns my 10 on those merits alone.

SPARKLY!!!!!!

This just proves that the latest generation is the lamest generation ever, their vampires are FABULOUUUUUS....

*puts on Spinal Tap accent* "This one goes to eleven."

I had a large group for this one. We had to stop the movie for twenty minutes after the "SONG"! Holy Crap, we just all DIED! We were rolling on the floor for fifteen minutes trying to recover from that song. Is that available as a ringtone somewhere, I WANT IT! It was hard to keep going after that, but this is the instant favorite riff of the whole group.

I gotta say though, without the riffing, I would absolutely have slit my wrists after watching this thing. I didn't know just how emo an emo movie could get! How was there not a mass teen girl suicide after the release of this super-emo-movie?

Is Emo-tastic a word?

I agree about the song---I want it too!! So brilliant!

ANd I agree that without the riffs this movie is unbearable. I dare not attempt it. Even w/ the RT it's soooo painful, but so worth the pain.

This looks like such a great riff, it's a shame I wouldn't touch this movie with a 10 foot cattle prod. Maybe if my girlfriend ever forces me to watch it I can listen to this on my iPod.

I too hate this movie, the idea, the frenzy, and I knew how bad it was too. I saw it, though, because it was riffed by all three. But take it from me---you're missing out. It's freaking brilliant. Actually, the fact that I hate the whole Twilight franchise and frenzy so much MAKES the movie funnier because it's so satisfying to make fun of it. Rather like defacing a poster of Twilight, or burning a pile of the books would be.

I gave it a nine.  It was a really great track.

One thing I would like to know is why the whole movie is tinted blue?

So many great lines I can't pick one as a favorite.

They filmed in Washington.  That's a blue state, isn't it?

My slightly more serious guess:  the director of Twilight studied under Roger Christian, who gave us Battlefield Earth.  Be glad the camera wasn't constantly tilted at thirty degrees as well.

Speaking of remind you of other bad movies am I the only one who thinks Twilight is a rip off of Touch of Satan with even more awkward pauses?

When I saw it I was thinking of Touch of Satan the whole time. Great minds think alike, I guess.

It's pretty much the exact same plot only it's set in highschool so Twilight is stupider then Touch of Satan.

Oh, let's just hope there's a "ZA!" and "This is where the fish live," in "New Moon"!  OOOH!!  You know what would make the series complete?  A sweaty nut farmer in "Breaking Dawn".

ROFL! Yes! I'm actually kind of looking forward to New Moon coming out, if only for the iRiff and the rifftrax that will follow shortly thereafter. I'm a little sad though because i'm 100% positive that they are going to pussify the hell out of werewolves just like they did to vampires (though i'm still not entirely convinced the creatures Meyer's has created are vampires, just some weird paranormal blood sucking, sparkly mutant)  I just have to keep telling myself that there will be an Anita Blake movie out soon, based on the books and the romance doesn't start in that series till book 5, so up until that point its all guns, zombies, REAL scary vampires and non-pussified weres.  (and yes i know some ppl out there hate anita blake and thats fine, but its a hell of a lot better than twilight)

8. I would have given it a 9, but I had to deduct 1 because none of the Riffers sang the ELO song....

That would have taken too much Time.  They only meant to stay a while.

I don't usually get my wife to watch many rifftrax / MST3K... But she will occasionally kick back and watch one with me when a subject movie rolls around that she is familiar with. We both liked the first Twilight movie when we saw it on DVD a few years back, it wasn't good but not particularly awful either. It's somewhat passable in the general sense...assuming you can get past the very earnest "we're taking this sillyness very seriously" vibe of the whole thing and just enjoy the pulp romance / popcorn flick aspects.

Anyways, we finally got around to watching the rifftrax... and the guys brought a lot of big belly laughs... the kind where you have to pause the DVD because you are missing subsequent jokes. Always a good sign. My wife wasn't laughing quite as hard or as often as I was.. but she got a lot of chuckles as well. She did say that she probably couldn't handle watching a rifftrax without having already seen the movie because "they talk too much over the actors"... but she is looking forward to watching the next two Twilight riffs in the next week or two.

They threw a lot of riffs out in this one, really rapid fire throughout, and a noticeable amount of riffs fell flat for me... But even so, the high quantity of big home run laugh out loud zingers puts this one amongst their very best work. I gave it a nine.
