Title: Club Nintendo
Post by: Pak-Man on January 07, 2009, 01:23:30 AM
So Nintendo recently brought Club Nintendo to our shores. The deal is, you take the time to register all those Nintendo-Published games, you fill out surveys about them, and you get points you can spend on swag. The coolest (and most expensive) bit of swag is an exclusive collection of 3 Game and Watch games ported over to DS. Since I've been meticulously registering all my Nintendo games for years, all I had to do was fill out the surveys for the select games, and in a few short days, the DS game will be mine! :^) Thought I'd let people know since I only just found out from my brother, and I'm usually pretty in-the-loop on this stuff. :^) It's all at http://www.nintendo.com

I have been trying to log in since the stupid site launched.  I keep getting an error saying:

I've been able to connect without issue each time. Just logged in this very minute in fact. Maybe it actually is the user name or password?

I tried going through and reconverting my "MyNintendo" account and it says the password was confirmed.  *shrug*

I was able to connect and get all my coins a few days ago without any problems. Filled out the surveys for all my previous games, and I'm at 750 coins...arrrggghhh! So close to the Game and watch series. Hopefully that prize won't disappear anytime soon...I don't think I'm quite sad enough to go out and buy a $50 first party game just for the prize. No, better to wait until Nintendo releases something I actually want.  ;D

Finally got it all straightened out.

I'm in and have 640 points.  (Some of the games I registered under MyNintendo didn't transfer over which was weird.  Unfortunately I don't have the registration number sheet anymore.)

So what's the "elite" prize they send if you hit 600 points in a year?

*upate*
Found this online:

Not sure if it's the same for the US.  But I'd be all over a free steering wheel.

The prizes really are DS centric.  Does me no good.  Give us more Wii stuff!

Just got my Game & Watch in the mail. It's not enhanced like the previous collections, but the DS layout perfectly simulates the Game & Watch experience. The 3 games represented are some of the best that Game & Watch has to offer. Glad I have this. Incidentally, my money's on the card set to be the most collectable Club Nintendo prize. :^)

Can't I just get last years gold Mario Kart wheel?   >:(
I guess I'll get the Doc Louis Punch Out since I have no interest in a Mario hat.

Aww. I was counting on the wheel too. I'd been holding out on buying a second wheel. Now I suppose I should plunk down the extra $10 when I get my copy of Excitebots. Doc Louis's Punch-Out! sounds cool, but I wish we'd get it on a disc or something, so I'd have something to have, but I enjoy Punch Out! too much to go for the hat. :^)

If anyone doesn't have Wii Music and wants some extra coins, register this code.  (First come, first serve.)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Club Nintendo won't let you enter a code for a game you've already registered.  (My kid destroyed the first copy and my brother in-law bought him a replacement for Christmas.)

Well if everyone's been registering their games this year, THIS is what awaits platinum members:

Reviving this thread. Because I need some serious help, and I fear that only you guys can help me out. In 4 days, ends the time that I can become a platinum member, I've done all the surveys I can, and I'm out of games to register (I even registered a couple of my brother's games out from under him). So what I was wondering, was if some kind soul, who hasn't registered one of their games, doesn't care enough to do it, or has two copies of the same game, if you could message me the code...before june 30th. that would be amazing. If this thing is done for me, I promise I will rekindle my addiction to these forums, and be a regular once again.

Now who's going to make this happen!?!?  ;D

Well you didn't miss out on much this year if you didn't go Platinum.

I guess the pins are pretty cool, but after the neat statue I got last year, I was hoping for something with more substance. The puzzle boxes are kind of cool, though.

Hey, it's REWARD TIME, Platinum and Gold members!

https://club.nintendo.com/elite-status-gifts.do

Platinum members get either some posters or a nifty looking deck of cards. Gold Members can snag a 2013 calander, or any of the following E-Shop downloads:

Super Mario Kart (Wii)
Metroid II (3DS)
Mario Vs. Donkey Kong (3DS)
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Wii)

Not as cool as the statue a couple years back, but a bit cooler than the buttons from last year...

I picked up Super Mario Kart with my coins awhile back as a reward.  Guess I'll go for Majora's Mask since I sold my Game Cube copy.

Just an fyi, the Mario Vs. DK is a 3DS only. Won't work on the DSi.

I don't think so? I can't remember for sure.

I'm at Gold for the year but won't hit Platinum. I'm sitting on a bunch of points in post play surveys for Pikmin 3, Mario Kart 8, and a few others that I won't do until the 1st so I start off next year in good shape.

Platinum:
Game & Wario - Wii U
NES Remix - Wii U
Earthbound - Wii U
Dr. Luigi - Wii U
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D - 3DS
Fluidity Spin Cycle - 3DS
Dillon's Rolling Western - 3DS
Mario & Donkey Kong - Minis on the Move - 3DS

Gold (Platinum can also claim)

Ice Climber - Wii U
Kid Icarus - Wii U
Super Mario Bros. - Wii U
Zelda II - Wii U
Donkey Kong 3 - 3DS
Wario Land II - 3DS
Metroid - 3DS
Mario Land 2 - 3DS

Not super thrilled with how this year works. Only 2 $30 Retail Games, and then everything else is $5 - $15? I already HAVE Donkey Kong Country Returns and Game & Wario...

Hm. Well this is annoying...

Someone got my son a 2DS for Christmas  :highfive:
Setting it up it asked for the Club Nintendo ID, so I put it in.  Then later on it asked for the Nintendo Network ID & it wouldn't let me use his ID because my Club Nintendo ID is linked to MY Nintendo Network ID.  So I had to basically restrict the crap out of the thing so he's not posting as me on MiiVerse or Using funds from my wallet.  Why can't they give you an option like they have on the Wii U to switch users???

I'd reformat the stupid thing and start over but he had already redeemed the Mario Kart 7 code, so he'd lose that.  Clearly not an option.

I saw they now have Demon's Crest on the Wii U eshop channel. As far as I know, Wii U eshop games like Super Nintendo games still aren't available on the 3DS. I mean come on, the 3DS certainly has the technical specs to handle the games! Not only that, but arguably the 3DS easily has enough processing power to run Nintendo 64 games! Hell, even the original DS had Mario 64 on it!!

Yeah, the 3DS can definitely run more than they're selling. I got in on the "Ambassador Program." (Nintendo dropped the price of the thing by $50 a couple months after release, so everyone who picked one up early got a boatload of free classic games.) As a result I have 10 perfectly emulated Gameboy Advance titles on my 3DS. Don't know why they're not in the eShop all these years later. I'm willing to drop a ton of money to be able to take certain GBA titles with me again.

I guess their business rationale is that if they put certain games only on the Wii U Eshop they'll start to move Wii U units because they're still not selling all that great even after the release of SSB. But I find that strategy to still be highly illogical even if its strictly in the business sense.

Have you played Hyrule Warriors yet? I remember hearing it was basically little more than Dynasty Warriors and not being too keen on the idea at all. If I was gonna make a Zelda game... I would give the player an option to choose his/her play style. If you love a Link to the past, give them a top down option where they can have like 12-15 16 bit style quests in one game. That is something hardcore Zelda fans would go crazy for. If you like a weird, awkward 3D zelda(And God knows why you would after Egoraptor highlighted all the problems with OOT and Skyward Sword), then you can have a huge quest that way too.

I just don't understand why they would do it. It's kind of like Shigeru Miyamoto putting up his hands and going "Nope... sorry, all outta ideas! That's all folks!" I think moving the franchise in a retro direction would be the best thing for it, especially since 2D games are probably super cheap to develop. It's all about the marketing.
Title: Re: Club Nintendo

I think it's more about experimentation.   Battlefield Zelda is a rather interesting idea, and it's nice to have control over other characters in the franchise other than being limited to just Link.

Yeah. I've never played a Dynsaty Warriors game, but after playing through the first battle or level or whatever it's called, I love it so far. It's not quite a Zelda game, but I like what it is.

And it's not really a new direction for the series. This is a crossover. Just like that Pokemon Conquest game they released a while back. It's taking 2 different games and merging them into something new. I like the result. It's no substitute for an epiz Zelda game, but it's a fun way to spend some time in Hyrule.

Nintendo announces it is closing Club Nintendo
http://wiiudaily.com/2015/01/nintendo-announces-it-is-closing-club-nintendo/

Quote
Today Nintendo announced that its rewards program Club Nintendo, will be shut down later this year. The loyalty club functioned as a way for Nintendo fans to get exclusive rewards from coins or stars, generated by registering products and filling out surveys on the Club Nintendo website. According to Nintendo, a new loyalty program will replace Club Nintendo, but no information on it has been given.

According to both Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe, there will be a number of physical rewards that will be added to the storefront for the clubs so that users may cash out their saved up coins. You’ll be able to earn coins until March 31 of this year and you’ll be able to redeem those coins until June 30 on rewards that will be available in the shops.

New products that debut after January 20 will not be eligible for Club Nintendo points, so those of you in North America who are upgrading to the New Nintendo 3DS XL will once again get the shaft, as every other region has already received their upgrade. Both Gold and Platinum status will be achievable this year and you’ll need to do it before March 31 in order to be eligible. Those who receive either Gold or Platinum will be able to choose a gift between April 1 and April 30.

European Club Nintendo

The closure dates for the European Club Nintendo are a little bit different. Europe will have until September 30 to redeem their stars and packaged pin codes for redemption will cease after April 1, while digital registration will cease after April 20.

Scott Moffitt released the following statement concerning the closure:

“We thank all Club Nintendo members for their dedication to Nintendo games and their ongoing love for our systems and characters. We want to make this time of transition as easy as possible for our loyal Club Nintendo members, so we are going to add dozens of new rewards and downloadable games to help members clear out their Coin balances.”

Very tough. I've bought almost everything Nintendo's released in the last few months and I still have 200 to get to Platinum. The new 3DS was going to give me the bump I needed, but I guess it won't now..

270 for me.

So I see one of two things happening:

1) Club Nintendo goes out with a bang and this year's Platinum reward is one of the best yet!

or

2) Club Nintendo does what they did last year and offers us a bunch of digital games we either probably had or weren't going to buy.

I hope at least one of them is a soundtrack.  I already have plenty of shirts and the DS game case should hold me for awhile.

How did you manage that? I'm just surprised that the original Bayonetta is on the Eshop. I recently picked up the Metroid Prime Trilogy for 10 bucks on the Eshop. I'm not a huge fan of those games, but even I won't turn down a deal that amazing. i'm just a little irked that I can't change the controls so I can use a classic controller instead. I know this sounds weird but I prefer a gamecube controller to the motion controls, which I find awkward outside of the Wii sports and Rayman Raving Rabbids games.

The current sale on Rayman games is a good way to give your point count a boost if you have a 3DS. $7.25 per game gets you 30 points each, and they're not bad games to boot.

Link's Awakening is the best bang for your buck if you don't already have it. Punch Out is also a great game to have on the go. Metroid and Zelda are both classics. 3D Classics Kid Icarus is pretty neat if you don't mind old-school challenge.

There were 13 people in line before the local Walmart near work opened at 7am specifically there to get a gold Mario.  The store only got 4.  I was not one of them.  Oh well. NBD since I was just going to eBay it anyway to fun my kids web series going.

But I do have 2 codes you guys can try if you're shy of platinum/gold.  Both are for Hyrule Warriors if you haven't already registered that game.  (They may have already been used since they were from a library, but I've had good luck with them.)

Do things like go to the store weekly, or use Mii Plaza, and you get coins which you can exchange for (so far) all digital goodies. Among them is a Zelda Picross game I would love to have. They're tying it in to this Miitomo app (Available today on Android and iPhone), so everyone get a Miitomo and do whatever it is Miitomos do so we can get coins to spend on stuff!

I dunno, I haven't had the opportunity to try. Post yours, and I'll give it a go.
