Title: Rifftrax people on Wii?
Post by: k1 on December 09, 2006, 07:17:04 AM
Just curious who out there in Rifftrax world have a Wii & wanted to add each other as contacts on there.  (I guess it's the Wii version of the x-box live gamertag thread!)

I, for one, am.  I tried to start this in the video game thread but it seems to have gotten lost in the topic.  So I'll repost my wii # here 2014 2861 2254 0795.  And remember, both people have to enter the number so you better post yours too k1posterchild, being greedy won't work.

Watch out for broken straps! You don't want to be like this guy:

Wii straps are breaking all over the place.

wiihaveaproblem.com has a bunch of photos of wiimotes flying and breaking tvs.

You know if you're using the straps correctly, there's no way they'd break. The straps are just loosely around your wrist in case you drop the Wii-Mote while you're swiping/thrusting/shaking. :^)

Wait, you aren't supposed to actually stab the character on the tv?  I've been ramming the Wiimote into the screen all this time!

Mine is: 3686 1797 5390 5716

The first day I played with mine it showed that little "remember to put the strap on as such" warning and I commented out loud, "Please, that's for morons."  Well, about 10 minutes later, my wiimote was flying across the room and smacked right into my TV.  Oops.

I wear the strap now, like a lamer.  To me, that's like wearing a helmet on your bike. It just makes you look like dork, but I'd be peeved if I broke my TV (or my wiimote, those things are hard to find right now).

I hear new skulls are hard to find too, unless you shelled out for the extended warranty when you first got it.  I know I was like "Warranty?  Hell no.  I'm blowing all my cash on pimping out my pacifier and my blankie."  Though I've matured since then.
Title: Re: Rifftrax people on Wii?
Post by: AmandaGal on December 09, 2006, 05:25:57 PM
I was kidding about the bike helmets...well, sorta.  When I was a kid, my mom made me wear one and none of my friends had to (she must have not had the foresight to but that warranty).  I felt like such a dork [sigh].  The voices are still mocking me in my head even to this day!

Although, now I think I'm my mom.  The other day I was going to be driving some kids in my car to a program and I was all, "I don't care what you do in your car, we're not leaving this parking lot until everyone buckles up!" and they were like "Ah, man. We thought you were cool."  Seeing as though I've almost killed them all several times off-roading with golf carts, you'd think they'd be more than happy to buckle up.

But, I guess, screw safety.  Like if all about looking cool.  If you're going to die, you might as well not look like a dork doing it.

The problem is that they are using the straps and when they slip the straps break and their Wii goes flying across the room.

BTW K1, I keep getting "This Wii number is incorrect" when I enter yours.

What's the online service like? Is it easy to get a Wii Sports game going?  As soon as I get one, I plan on beating the living tar out of all my friends!  ;D
Title: Re: Rifftrax people on Wii?
Post by: Variety of Cells on December 18, 2006, 06:55:38 PM
I don't intend to look into the online capabilities much, but I'll tell you what I have heard.  They suck.

Right now, you will have to trade special codes with your friends for each game that you will want to play online.  From my understanding, there will be no playing random people.  You have to trade codes, that means each person has to enter the code on their machine before you can play.  Kinda defeats the purpose of online play.  They claim that it was to protect people new to online games (like the elderly and little kids) from getting flamed and insulted by the normal idiots who hang out online.  But people are complaining, so hopefully things will change.

Oh, and Wii sports doesn't go online.  I personally don't mind, I'm not much of an online gamer.  But if you are, and that's why you are getting a Wii, then maybe it's not for you.

I've been trying to figure out, do you need to just be friends with someone in order for that person's miis to show in your parade?  Or do you need to send your Mii?  The only 2 people in the parade are my buddy's brother and sister.  But they never showed up until he sent his Mii to me.
Title: Re: Rifftrax people on Wii?
Post by: Variety of Cells on December 19, 2006, 02:54:18 PM
You just need to turn travel on, by going into the mii parade and selecting teh travel option.  Also, you need to turn mingle on for each of the miis you want to have go to other systems.  This is done by going into the Mii editor for each mii and turning mingle on.

Then they should appear in mii parades without having to specifically send them.

And on a different note, be careful playing gamecube games on your wii.  I was playing super smash brothers and the game froze.  I have not been able to turn my wii back on, only a black screen comes up.  Nintendo was nice about it though, and they are sending me a new one free of any charge.

It's been announced that, on Christmas, Nintendo is surprising everyone with downloads of Super Castlevania 4, Street Fighter 2, R-Type (For the Turbografix 16), and Super Mario Brothers (For the NES. :^))

I'm all over Castlevania 4. :^)

Sure, here's what happened.

I was playing super smash brothers when my wii froze.  It froze once before when I was playing ssb, so I wasn't all that worried.  So I held in the button to reboot, and when I started it back up all I got was black.  It would wirr and light up, but nothing came up.  I restarted it and unplugged it and stood it on its side and did every combination of everything i could think of, but still, nothing.  So I called up nintendo and they shipped me out a new system for no charge at all.  It came in 3 days and now it's been working great.  I've played a bunch of gamecube games and haven't had a problem since.  I wouldn't worry about it.  Even if it does break, they will just give you a new one, or fix yours for free.  I chose to get a new one because it was faster and I didn't have much on it yet, though I did loose my miis and my zelda saves.  Ohhhh well.

Aw man that really blows.

My wife bought me the new Zelda last night.  Kinda reminds me of the first Jak & Daxter a little bit (I'm not that far into the game yet though...).  It's pretty sweet.

Ouch.  You know something is wrong when even the systems they use to advertise are buggy.  Still no more problems with my Wii, so I don't think it's anything to be too worried about.

And please, re add my wii number.  I'll post it again here in case you missed the last message.  2014 2861 2254 0795.  I know you people have lives and better things to do then retyping a number into your wii, but you see, I don't, and I only have one Mii in my parade right now.  So by sacrificing a bit of your life, you can give me one by letting me have more friends... in my parade.

Apparently Sony says their freezing is a feature not a problem.  I sometimes read the gaming sites and several Sony reps have said the demo units were designed to freeze up to prevent people from playing games all day in the store.

That's nice of 'em.  I have heard of home PS3s freezing up a little too though (though nobody I know has had problems with them).  I wonder if they decided to extend the feature.

I've also heard tale that PS3s aren't selling. The initial rush was mostly people grabbing them to sell on Ebay, and those got sold. From what I hear, the PS3s are sitting on shelves, and this early in the game, that isn't a good sign.

The Wii, meanwhile, having produced 10 times as many systems, is nowhere to be found. GO NINTENDO! :^)

(Please note, I have nothing AGAINST Sony, but there's so much over the years that has shown me that they don't know what they're doing, but they've stumbled into a thing or two  that carried them as far as they've gone. I've never felt like they belonged in the console wars, even if they did have the lead for a long time. :^))

My mom works in electronics at a Walmart and that's pretty much true here.  She said right before Christmas they were literally going to the demo unit and telling the guys playing, "We have some of these in" and no takers.  They got a shipment of 12 and they didn't sell out until after Christmas and now they have another shipment that is sitting on shelves (in a lock case, of course).  They don't have any Wiis.

I think it's a price issue.  Who can afford a PS3?  I, for one, can't see paying that even if I could.  You could buy a whole PC for that.

Sony's argument seems to be "The PS3 pretty much is a PC." To which I respond, can it do my taxes? Or download RiffTrax? Wankers.

Yeah, the Wii kicks alot of ass.  I'm thinking I'll get one here in the next few months as Nintendo gets more supplies.  Also, I'm seriously considering an XBox 360.  I really didn't like the first xbox, but the 360 is a damn solid system.  Reasonably priced, good quality games, and fantastic online support.  I'm NOT getting a PS3.  I abandoned nintendo with the N64 and since played alot of PS and PS2.  The PS3 is just wrong for gaming.  It's overpriced, all style and no heart.

I managed to order one from Germany of all places, and I should hopefully get it within the week.  I also bought Red Steel (I don't care what the reviews say, I want a samurai sword, dangit!).
Title: Re: Rifftrax people on Wii?
Post by: Variety of Cells on January 13, 2007, 06:34:04 PM
I borrowed Red Steel from a friend.  It's not a bad game.  The graphics are not horrible, and the controls are not awful.  I actually enjoyed it.  I'm not going to buy it, but I was entertained enough to finish it quick before I had to give it back.  I was most impressed with the option to not kill people, which was rewarded.  I haven't played many first person shooters lately, but I've never seen that before.  You are rewarded for the amount of 'bad guys' that you don't kill by sparing their lives, which I give them a big thumbs up for.  It makes me excited for more first person shooters on the Wii, like Metroid, which has been getting some pretty good press.

I got my Wii today! Yippee!  After playing on Wii sports for the past couple of hours I must say - I'm hopelessly out of shape! I'm pretty awesome at Golf, though.  It's a shame that you can't play these games online.  I've also got Red Steel, which I've only just started, but I was impressed with.  I'm surprised at the negative reviews it received, citing its horrible graphics: It looks perfectly fine to me, and I feel it's slightly hypocritical of some magazines/websites to say that gameplay is more important than graphics, but then mark Red Steel down because it's plain, not because it's bad to play.

warioware looks too fruity and japanese. The novelty of using the controller is already starting to wear off, and the idea that these microgames aren't that challenging doesnt help. Raymonds raving rabbids does the cake for me in terms of party games, its funny, and the minigames are competitively challenging (and you dont need 4 controllers).

Nintendo needs to realize that most normal people from the rest of the world dont find cutsey highly obnoxious anime characters appealing.

Then you can get one for a decent price, or you can get a nifty little transmitter that you can plug into a handy USB port that's designed to beam to your Wii. There might be wired options as well. I haven't really looked. :^)

It's an adapter so you can hook up your lan connection into the usb ports on the wii.

The virtual console is pretty cool.  I'm really getting into bomberman.  And there's a whole world of games I'd like to have, they just need to release them.

I too waited a good 16 hours for my Wii, and That almost echoes my thoughts. SO worth it and I will never ever do that again as long as I live. One just doesn't realize how COLD it gets in September at 3 AM until they've sat in it for a long long time. Here I'd brought a bunch of gameboy games and reading materials and thought to myself, "I can stay up all night! I've done it before!" It's the COLD that gets you. When it's too cold to bring your hands out into the open and read that book or play that game, all you can do is sit huddled underneath your blanket and watch for the sun to come up. :^)

The life of the consumer is a bleak one.

I waited until black Friday.  I only had to wait six hours and 2 of those hours were in my car.  It wasn't that cold.  So for me, it was defiantly worth it.

i waited online with my brother and his friend.  we were fortunate enough to be among the 1st 10 in line, by launch morning (which wasnt til 10AM!...not midnight) there were 160+, many of which left empty handed.  it was SOOO cold, i mean, you said it- its the cold that gets ya.  had my DS with mario kart and yoshi's island ds, had lawn chairs and a blanket, but that didnt help.  3 shirts, jeans, a hat, and regular socks just werent enough clothes.  and yet, i met such great characters that night.  i will never ever forget the whole experience.

I think it's a lot better than having to punch in text with a regular controller.  You get used to it, and if they develop a better program for guessing the word you're going to type, that might recognize words you type a lot, but it'll be pretty nice.

And also, don't be stingy, post your Wii #

Yeah, blond hair color look a little too white.  That's why I went with a brown shade of blond for the Mike Mii because the blond color there was was too white. I hope they update the Mii Channel with more customization options.  After all, the Miis had ears at the last E3.

I sure hope the next update to Opera browser includes keyboard support, even more so for long messages.  But it hasn't really slowed me down that much once I got use to the setup.

pretty sure theres red hair to choose... also, for the internet typing- no "wiiboard" is out yet, but they do have T9 that'll guess the word you wanna type based on how much you've written.  you start spelling and a whole list of words you may want appear, then you choose which word you want if it's there.  just click the arrow underneath the box you enter text in.

So, that's what the blue light means.  All this time I've been angered by it.  Seriously, sometimes I turn the Wii off and it's nice and uncolored.  Then, it'll turn blue like it's mocking me.  I've really been trying to figure it out (not too bad or I would have googled it).  Does it want me to play it?  It seems to go away when I turn it on and play (and now that I realize, I always check my messages and things when I play, hehe).  Is it taunting me and telling me I suck as a gamer because I haven't played in this long?  Are there new games in the virtual console shop?

I had just about figured out that it was to tell you the Wii hadn't been played in a few days and you should turn off the power. I'm bright.  I was thinking that Nintendo was retarded for making it consume more power the longer you left it alone instead of less.  Is there a virtual dunce hat I can wear?

Title: Re: Rifftrax people on Wii?

Because if they did that, they wouldn't make as much money.  You pay for the price of two n64 games, and get to play as many games as you want.  If you really wanted to, you could plow through just about all of the games on there in that amount of time.  Most of the are pretty short.  It'd be nice, but the answer is money, so it's not going to change.

X box doesn't have friend codes and system codes though, and it isn't overly protective of its users.  X box knows what they are doing when it comes to online gaming.  Though, to be fair, Wii doesn't have any online games yet.  Though that doesn't really count in its favor.
Title: Re: Rifftrax people on Wii?
Post by: AmandaGal on February 20, 2007, 08:22:50 PM
Xbox is a lot more user friendly overall.  Nintendo had a chance to really corner the market, I think, with online gaming because look at all the classic titles they have that we could play.  I hope they start to utilize that or at least consider it in the future.

They're promoting the Wii for group gaming yet, as far as I can tell (granted, we haven't seen any online titles), they are going to make it a b*&@ to do online, group gaming.  A little paranoid me thinks.  The DS has decent wireless gaming though so maybe they little something I don't.

The Virtual Console is the best part of the Wii as far as I am concerned. I can store many many games on SD cards They also just released Super Ghouls and Ghost one of my all-time favorite SNES games.  The only thing that has the potential to suck is if my Wii console breaks down and I have to get a new one. The though of spending hundreds of dollars on VC games that would be useless if my machine dies is kind of scary.

Get yourself an emulator, Torso.  Then you'll have the game for as long as they keep making PCs.

Since you've purchased the ROM (probably more than once), I don't even think it's technically illegal.

I have had some ROMs and all but I just can't stand playing games on the PC.  I don't know what it is but I just don't like it.  I can't explain it or justify it.

I can understand it.  There's a lot to be said for playing from the comfort of your couch.

In that case, you need a hacked Xbox.

Just get a Nintendo.com account and link it. That way, in the unlikely event that your Wii dies, they'll link your account to your new Wii and let you redownload for free. :^)

I don't like the ideal of any system getting modded that has online services.  I like to play Halo 2 online once and a while.  I had no probelm doing it to one of my Playstation 2 and GameCube, but Mircosoft locks systems.

Yeah, that's understandable.  Since I've never used Xbox Live, it's not something I've worried about.

The nice thing about the Xbox, though, is that you can soft mod the console without having to solder any chips to the board. The only change occurs on the hard drive, so it's really easy to switch back to the standard dashboard when you want to play online, then return to your modded environment to run XBMC or whatever.

New opera browser is up.  Works a lot better.  Faster, smoother, with a lot more buttons.  Still no copy and paste, but you can hide the bottom bar and go full screen.  All the buttons on the bar are mapped to the D pad, so you don't really need it. The zoom works really nice as well. And it's free.

Title: Re: Rifftrax people on Wii?

I'm pretty annoyed with the release of three virtual console games per week. I was hoping at the least maybe they could release 3 games per system NES SNES, etc., I'm jonesing for some Battletoads, Bubble Bobble, Dr. Mario and Super Mario Bros.3. Meanwhile I have to wait around for Nintendo to release all their crap games first so they can maximize their profit. At least for now I have Super Mario Bros.2  and Super Mario World which is one of the main reasons I bought the Wii.
Here's a quick list of the games I have.
Resident Evil 4 - I find the game control for the Wii horrible and it ruined the game for me and the expectations I had for it much like when I bought it for the PC.
WarioWare: Smooth Moves - Fun and definitely worth the $25 I spent for it on amazon (it was a Deal of the Day).
Rayman Raving Rabbits - It's fun for awhile, but I wish I hadn't spent $50 on it. Definitely something to hold out on till it's around $30 or so.

Anyone have any other suggestions for games? I just ordered Super Paper Mario and will probably get Twilight Princess after that. I wanted to get the Metal Slug Anthology but I heard the game control is horrible for that and will probably end up getting it for the PS2.

Twilight Princess and Super Paper Mario are definite must-haves and worth the full price of admission (And seeing as they're both part of Nintendo's biggest properties, they're gonna stay full price for a while.) I also find Elebits to be a lot more fun than it has any right to be. :^)

The beautiful thing about working in a press release editing office is that companies send these bits of news out usually a day before the public gets them. I've known all night (Just haven't been able to say anything online, since if I were discovered I could lose my job and probably get hefty non-disclosure-contract-breaking-type penalties. :^)) But both Microsoft and Nintendo put their releases through our offices. :^)

I think Square wanted to test the waters of the VC with ActRiser first. Also, since it was a double effort, I don't know how the licensing would go, but I'd imagine it shouldn't be too hard, considering Nintendo was the publisher.

Today we also got Baloon Fight for the NES and Silent Debuggers for the Turbografix 16. (Baloon Fight is like Joust with scrolling levels. Silent Debuggers is a first person shooter that  I've never played. :^))

The first 2 Paper Mario Games (Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door) play a lot more like a classic RPG with turn-based fights whenever you encounter an enemy, but with increased damage for pushing the right button at the right time. The tone, however, remains exactly the same throughout the series.

I've got another question for you guys, I'd rather not spend the money on the highly over-priced Wii brand SD card so I'm looking at other alternatives on meritline.com. I can't quite remember what the guy at circuitcity was telling me but basically he said I could use any brand of SD card for the Wii as long as the read/write speed wasn't above 50x, (insert Speed joke here) does that sound right? Anyone had any luck with something other than SanDisk's Wii brand SD cards?

I use a different brand. I forget which, i think it's blue.  I actually use it quite a lot.  I fancy myself a bit of a photographer so when I go on vacation I take a lot of pictures.  It's nice at the end of the day to pop in the SD card and watch what I took on the big screen with whoever I'm with.  Never had a problem with the SD card though.

So judging by this list, what games do you think are missing from the VC? Off the top of my head, Snowboard Kids and Mortal Kombat (any of them, I'd be presonaly impressed if they get 4).

I don't know if they've been bought up by someone else, but VC would certainly benefit if Treasure were releasing some of their games through the format.  And how awesome would it be if LucasArts released some of their point-and-click games on it?

Well they kinda already released Gunstar Heros on the VC. That's good enough to sell me. And the only way to play LucasArts games on the Wii would be through the NES version of Manic Mansion (impossible), or LucasArts would have to release a "Point-And-Click Classics"  compilation (even more impossible). If you want point and click on the Wii, you should keep your eye on Zach and Wiki.

I've heard murmurings of a channel that will let developers make whatever kind of game they want available for download. This would allow Lucasarts to release those ol' point n' clicks. :^) Until then, I'm waiting for the Neo Geo to be added to the lineup (CONFIRMED!) All the best fighting games (That aren't Street Fighter)!

This is more than murmurings.  It was confirmed before E3 that it'll be coming out next year sometime.  I'll go look for the article...

Woo!  GrimFandango is the most imaginative, cleverly-scripted game I've ever played.  I sat through so many Ebay auctions to get my second copy.  A while back, I found only one disc of the two.  I couldn't find it so I had to buy a new one - it was so good.  Even downloaded the soundtrack from a fan site.

I think it would make a good transition to the Wii - but at the same time, I want it to stay somewhat of an obscure gem.

I too love that game and the soundtrack, which was awesome. You wouldn't happen to have a link to the site? I bought my coy of Grim Fandango off half.com for like 3 bucks, the case was a bit worn down but the discs were in great shape.

"It's a squeaky little kitty!"

Grim Fandango is none other than the pinnacle of adventure gaming, the game to which all adventure games that came before aspired without even knowing it.  That it was basically ignored by all but critics makes me ashamed for my species.

Every couple of years I go back and play through all the LucasArts adventures, from Maniac Mansion on up.  They just never get old.  Well, maybe The Dig...

If you loved Grim Fandango and haven't played Psychonauts yet, go get you some right now.  Especially if you're an artsy-fartsy illustratorish type.  The art design is off the hook.

:)  I saw a review of Psychonauts on X-Play a few nights ago, and it really does look like fun.  I don't own any consoles besides SNES and a DS lite, which is good because I can get majorly distracted by these things if I'm not careful.

Maybe I'll find a friend who owns it and convince them to let me have at it. :)

And so with the Wii, i own my first real gaming console since the Atari 2600. It's only a day old, so i barely have any games... and by "barely" i mean "none." So until Trauma Center shows up in the mail, or i can make it to the store, i'll be playing lots of Wii Sports and old Nintendo games on the virtual console. While you kids are reliving your glory days playing Castlevania and Super Mario Brothers, i'm just figuring out how to beat the level one boss for the first time.

If I buy that damned game am I going to need to find a walkthrough for it? I seriously hate trying to find secret entrances in the middle of nowhere when I need to set a bomb off on some random rockpile like in the first Zelda. With all that being said I'd still like to try out A Link To the Past.

LTTP is very straight-forward in its puzzling. It has a map that tells you where you need to go, and every secret is figure-outable without any walkthrough.

There are so many games I'm looking forward to.  Galaxy and Smash brother of course.  But Victorious Boxers looks fun, along with Zack and Wiki.  I might pick up Mercury Meltdown considering it's only 20 bucks.  And Geometry Wars for the Wii looks cool, although I've never played the 360 version.  Table Tennis looks interesting, and I know I'm forgetting a few.

What are you all looking forward to?

I couldn't wait for Trauma Center to show up in the mail, so i ran out and picked up Super Paper Mario and Resident Evil 4.

Like i said before... i haven't really played any video games for years and years. So i tend to enjoy the really fun and easy titles that border on children's games. Especially as i'm trying to learn all the controls for a brand new system. I don't have a history of button-mashing or a gamer's intuition for finding hidden levels and power-ups. Nice and lame easy for me.

Anyway, i have been digging through the Wii titles and these look like they very well may end up in my collection sooner or later:

Guitar Hero 3
Harvey Birdman
Super Mario Galaxy
Brunswick Pro Bowling
Namco Museum Remix
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None
Trauma Center: New Blood (depending on how i like the first one)

We'll see... Besides having a really lame taste in video games, i'm also a huge cheapskate. So at about fifty bucks a game, it's more than likely that i won't end up with half of those.

Looking forward to these:
I'm getting Brain Age any day now via Goozex.com
Pre-ordered GH3
Dragon Blade could be ok.  Not sure, looks fun though.
Spider Man: Friend or Foe is supposed to be decent, but I hated Marvel Ultimate Alliance on the Wii.  I liked the controls better on PS2.
Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal might be ok.
Battalion Wars 2
Game Party (more mini game fun that my wife will play)
Ghost Squad
Lego Star Wars
Nitro Bike
Smartypants intrigues me for some reason
The eventual 007 game that will come out next year
And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Rock Band.  If it doesn't come out on the Wii, I may be forced into getting a PS3.  (Plus I want the new Ratchet & Clank)

Now if only I could find time to play all those games...

I'm probably one of the few Wii owners not that excited about Mario Galaxy or Smash Bros.  I prefer my Mario in 2D!  (Except for Super Paper Mario, that was awesome.)

What makes you think there will be a 007 game for the Wii?  I thought Rare owned the rights to that franchise, who is in bed with if not owned by Microsoft.  At least that's the reason people keep saying they won't be releasing Golden Eye on the virtual console.

Naw Rare had the rights when they made Goldeneye, but they lost those rights a while back. There'll probably be an 007 game, but it will probably be made by EA (And probably won't be able to touch the majesty that is Goldeneye. :^))

They had a stack of about 20 at my Best Buy a month or two ago.  I went back the next day and they were all gone.  I was looking for a window air conditioner for my dorm and was back in the appliance section and there were about a hundred PS3s up above where they keep some of the stock.

There was a rumor going around that Nintendo was holding back stock for a while so that they'd have a bunch available for Christmas.  If that's true, they must be releasing them now, because I've seen quite a few around lately.

There were three at Fry's about a week and a half ago.  I found one on Wednesday at Best Buy, and snatched it up.  Then I was back at Best Buy on Friday and there was a big stack of them; at least five or six.

I guess what I'm saying is, there's never been a better time to grab your Wii.

What Nintendo says is that they finally have been able to increase production after some set backs.  But they fear they are going to become scarce again come Christmas.

Glad to see you got one Steve-O.  You were the one who introduced me to the Wii with your clever Wii/penis jokes, which confused me because I didn't know what the hell a Wii was.  And after looking it up, well I just had to have one.  I don't really play it much, but it's a great conversation starter at parties.  I keep it on a coffee table while I sit patiently, waiting for some one to ask about it so I can let the penis jokes fly.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles was supposed to be packaged with one at one point.  I'm not sure if that's still the case.

And on a different note, Smash Brothers Brawl now has a level editor.  You can also submit one level you've made per day to Nintendo, where they will select the best one and make it playable for everyone the next day.  So yes, you will have a new level every day to play on.  It's uncertain if you will be able to save the new level, but you can save all the levels you make yourself to an SD card and share them with your friends.  I don't see how I'll ever stop playing it.

I've got the Nyko charger for my Wiimotes.  The gripped back means it doesn't fit quite right in the Zapper.  I didn't notice until last night when I tried to "reload" by flicking the zapper to the side.  Next thing I know, the trigger isn't doing anything, I look down and the Wiimote had popped out of the shell.  Oops.

So far that new Nintendo Channel sucks. It's just like a dedicated channel for Nintendo related YouTube videos. And even at that, i can't get a single one to play straight through without glitching out on me. Of course, i'm sure everyone in North America was trying at the the same as me.

The only thing that looks promising is the idea of downloading content to my DS. We'll see how that plays out though...

Yeah I can't get the videos to do crap either...it was a little more than disappointing. But I did download a demo to my DS and it worked great. I'll keep using the channel if only for that.

I'm really excited that WiiWare is coming out monday though.

I rated all the games I had played.  I guess I have to wait for recommendations.... which is kinda lame.  And there doesn't seem to be a way to search by rating yet.

I'll try out the DS demos this weekend.  Looking forward to that.

Oh and thanks for updating the first post K1.  I thought about doing something like that... put a sudden draft of lazyness swept over me.

I bailed out of that channel pretty quick after it became obvious that nothing was working. But how did you go about downloading a DS demo? All i saw during the brief time i snooped around were about nine pages of videos.

I think it has a little DS logo next to it, or may have been in its own section.

I was only on there on the day it came out long enough to rate the games I've got and watch the boom blox video.  (No issues with the video for me.)

When you look at games, they have the options for them, whether it be just a description, a video, or a DS demo. And I just did that.

There's a tiny button on the top left.... I forget what it says.  Something about search for games... or rate them.  But it takes you to a list of options where you can either rate your games, search for other games, and i think there's a button toward the bottom of the list for all the ds demos they have.

In fact I don't have many of the big online games get, I have:

Bomberman, Dr Mario and Battalion Wars II

I think that might be all unless I'm forgetting some.

Though I am one of those people that is really excited about Animal Crossing.

Yes, to the second project. As for the first one (original XBox) I'm going to acquire another one pretty soon before I try it out.

As for Tiger Woods 2009, I have it, but haven't played it yet. I was under the impression you can play with up to 4 other people online, is this true?

So it claims, though I haven't tried.  I just fired it up for the first time last night.  No doubt it's utterly nightmarish to get the damned thing to work.

I really wish Nintendo would get on the ball and come up with a decent online matchmaking service.  For being the "casual gamer's console", it's kind of dumb that the you need a PhD. to play the thing online.

I really don't understand the complaints about Nintendo's online system. Sure it's slightly more complicated than your Xboxeses or your Playstations, but on the other hand, it's not really any harder than dialing a phone.

Any ideas as to why things look worse on the Wii for me not that I'm using component cables instead of RCA?  Some things look decent, but you can hardly make out the faces of the Mii's who are pitching in Wii Sports home run derby now.  It also looks like it really pixelated rounded objects.  Maybe it's just that game that's having issues?  (I haven't tried any other games recently.)

I did change the settings to wide screen in the Wii settings.

Grand Slam Tennis is a riot!  The key is not to play it like any other tennis video game, but to swipe like it's a genuine racquet.  Makes a world of difference.  Also, make sure you reconfigure your M+ every couple of minutes or so.  Lay it face down on something flat for at least five seconds.

But the M+ does exactly what the original Wiimote *should* have done in the first place.  It's phenominal.

Not sure if you got an answer to this yet.

The Wii is only capable of 480p. When i switched to a high definition TV that was able to display 1080p... it really brought out the limitations of the Wii's graphics. It wasn't horrible, but i thought it looked better... or was meant to look better, in standard definition.

That was just my experience, though. You may be having a completely different problem. I'd double check the display settings on both your television and the Wii, just to be safe.

I did notice an apparent drop in "quality" when I went from a 27 inch to a 42 inch still using the RCA cables, but using the component cables and changing the Wii setting to the 16:9 or whatever it says made it worse.  I probably should check the TV though.  I know it's on 16:9 to match the ratio, but I didn't check to see if that was also on 1080 for the component input.  I know it is for the HDMI ones.

Dunno.  My DVD player looked fine using RCA cables and the PS3 looks ridiculous using the HDMI on my tv.  It seems to mainly be an issue on the earlier Wii games (particularly Wii Sports).

Darn it. My son wanted to play Mario this morning and I fired up the Wii only to find it's bricked itself.  :grr:  I can hear it running, but just get a black screen.

did you unplug it and plug it back in?

Yep.  I got it on launch day and the disc drive on it was getting really loud whenever it was loading a disc.  I'm assuming the only way to keep my Wii shop points (and downloaded games) is if I send it to Nintendo for repair. Otherwise there's no way to transfer them to a new Wii right?

Considering how much I have used it (especially when Mario Kart came out) I think it has paid for itself. Lasted longer than most Xbox 360's! But then again a lot of things last longer than that...

My drive had that problem. Sent it into Nintendo and they fixed it for free even though the warranty was up.

Any.  The Wii ones are simply a way to charge a pantload of money for a sticker that says Wii on it.

I had problems with my licenses on the 360 so I traded it in and got a Wii U. Anyways, I'm not sure how you friend somebody using it though. God, you know tech is getting so advanced that even I'm beginning to feel like a goddamn dinosaur.

There should be a Friend icon or something at the bottom of the game pad on the Wii U menu. It's in there somewhere.

My ID is onewallcinema, my sons is xR3353x (I'm on with him occasionally)

Listen, I know a lot of people don't want to put up with my emotional bullshit, but I would really appreciate if somebody, anybody who has a Wii U would enjoy video chatting through the Wii U game pad some time. Anyway, my NNID is soguru_elric. Thanks in advance, everybody.
