Title: Mafia 14: Politics of Personal Destruction Edition
Post by: Thom_Serveaux on September 10, 2008, 10:10:48 PM
So I thought I'd give everyone the weekend to decompress from the last game.   I've got 3 different themes in mind, and I'll put it up for a vote:

1.) Walker Texas Ranger Edition
2.) Kaiju Edition
3.)Generic Anime Edition

The one withe the most votes in the next 24 hours is the one we go with....

What's number 2 mean?

And I think I will be voting for Anime. Ronin and I already figured out my character.

nothing so formal my dear just post here with your preference, and when the time limit is up, (24 hours from my initial post)  I'll tabulate and announce the results...

'Kaiju' is the Japanese term for any giant monster movie, be it Godzilla, Gamera, etc....

Update:  Have added a poll with the now 4 choices:

1.)  Walker Texas Ranger Edition: The Chinese Tongs and the South American Cartels are in a turf war over the Dallas Metroplex, with the Texas rangers in the crossfire....

2.) Kaiju (Giant Rubber Monster) Edition:  The Aliens of Planet X have once again begun to try and control the residents of monster island, this time a renegade Earth Scientist  has simlar designs for Global Domination.  Tokyo's Insurance rates are sure to skyrocket...

3.) Generic Anime Edition: You thought that Anime was make-believe?  Ha! you wish!  Some diabolical shadowy figures have designs to conquer their creator's reality.  Only the combined forces of good, (and not so good)  will have a chance to stop them...

Lastly, is a suggestion by Jewish Carpenter:

4.) Presidential Campaign Edition:

"I know you're running the next game but I figure I'd toss this out maybe have a presidential mafia match where the mafia families are the Obama campaign and the McCain campaign killing off citizens in overly stereotypical ways. Thought I'd throw that out there although I'm not sure you'd want it to be political unless both sides were of made fun of proportionately."

We should probably wait until the theme is actually decided and any rules are established before picking characters.

Well, I'd personally pick the anime version, just because it's less likely to spark an actual political debate. (No offense folks, but I find that generally  the more I know of a person's politics, the less and less that I like them.) However, if we do do a political game, may I suggest the following?

Quote
Revenge of the Also-Rans!

Oh noes!  Tragedy! At the Presidential debates due to an intern's misplaced decision to place an order from "Bob's House of Past The Expiration Date Shrimp", the Presidential candidates have been laid low! And the candidates' interns probably shouldn't have boxed up the leftovers and sent them to the Vice Presidential candidates either.

As a result, practically every person who has ever run for President and lost has decided that now is the perfect time to make a run for the Presidency! But beware! The main political parties are trying to take out these newcomers! After all, one of the Vice Presidential candidates groaned the other day.  And the other party claims that their candidate blinked once or twice! He'll be fine by inauguration day!

Rules: 1) Pick a someone who ran for either the presidency or vice presidency and lost as your avatar. Please choose either a fictional candidate or a candidate who ran more than 10 years ago. (People as less likely to get worked up about Henry Clay than they are about John Kerry.)

2) Instead of being killed, candidates are simply eliminated from the race. Fictional or not, it might be unwise to be talking about bumping off presidential candidates, especially at this time of year. I think Mike and crew would prefer not having the Secret Service drop by...

3) The roles? The Donkeys and Elephants are our Mafia families.  Informants are now "Spin Doctors" and Vigilantes... er, let's call them Liddies, I guess. You could probably pick better names than that.

Whaddya think?

Also a good idea.  I voted for the political version simply because I know little to nothing about the other three choices (nor do I care) so they don't really interest me at all.  But I can also see how a theme based on the current political landscape might ruin an otherwise fun game.

Here's an idea then, members of the campaign are to be voted off so no killing necessary. I would hope people could hold themselves off from political discussion for a game in this thread and if anything play out the grossly exaggerated roles they've been labeled.

How about instead of being killed the person voted off (being under pressure and what not) is described as having made a terrible gaff and is forced to retire from public life.

There are so many fun ways a politician can embarrass themselves, it's got to be rich in potential scenarios.

Oh and baggsie CAA or Old Hickory

Voted for anime, but an idea for the political one, since its in the lead.  Adding to the lack of actual death some are already talking about, it seems wrong to "vote" for people who are being eliminated.  Instead of calling it voting, you can create a negative ad or slam against their campaign and whoever gets the most negativity heaped on them drops off the bottom of the polls.

All just changing terminology and making up roleplaying possibilities, but hey I need sleep and when that happens my brain spits out funky ideas.

Ok how about this, let's more the politics one to a different thread (who's running the next game after this one?) The game after this would be closer to the election and so people might be in the mood for a little steam to be blown off about it.

The lightinign round could be set at the final debate :)

Aside from the politics one I like the Anime one,

I voted "politics," but I wouldn't mind putting off that game for the future, like Tripe suggested, especially since I'm still very, very busy and stuff.  However, I do have a few questions about it.  Is everybody who enters it going to invariably end up choosing presidential headliners, such as Romney and Clinton, with only Obama and McCain off-limits, or are the pundits fair game, too?  Because I... kind of want to play as Olbermann in this game.

And who DOES have the next game, anyway? If there isn't much of a line, I wouldn't mind running the Presidential Debate Mafia game.  I can host as Olbermann AND O'Reilly, to represent both demographics.  And I'll read the rules, I promise.

Heh.  All this coming from somebody who claims to go cross-eyed when it comes to politics.

I'd be sitting out of this round, anyway, though.  My vote's about as useful as Walt Disney's.

I'm Thom_Serveaux, and I approve of this idea.  (if it wins the final vote) With the minor tweak being that the Vigilantes shall for this game shall henceforth be known and referred to as 'Pundits'.

Furthermore, all this week, my ISP/modem has been extraordinarily flaky of late.  Sometimes cutting me off from internet access for hours at a time. therefore I am requesting any and all interested parties to apply as  co-GM if they are so inclined.  That way there will hopefully be as little disruption as possible.

Can we choose fictional presidents?  Cuase I got a good one.
Sure, Ross Perot, Ron Paul, Ralph Nader, Jerry Brown, you name it...

I think Compound would make a good co-GM for this bout.  He did a great job with the rules for Presidential Fell-Just-Short-ers Mafia, after all.  Again, I'm sitting out until I get my school's workload organized, so me taking on the co-GM would be a very poor lapse of judgment.

Can I make a suggestion, though?

3) The roles? The Donkeys and Elephants are our Mafia families.  Informants are now "Spin Doctors" and Vigilantes... er, let's call them Liddies, I guess. You could probably pick better names than that.

Unless Thom decides to do this when he announces "deaths":

Quote
Dim of the Yard has been eliminated from the campaign.  She was a Spin Doctor (Informant).

... Then I would suggest changing the name "Spin Doctor."  I'm assuming that this game has normal rules, but this would help to cut down the confusion regarding the roles of the Informant and the question of whether or not the Doctor will be making an appearance in this game.

Again, you don't have to change it.  Just a suggestion.  If you do decide to change the name, though, my suggestions are "Proponents of Spin" and "Talking Points."

Edit: And this is all, of course, assuming "Presidential Race" wins the bout for Mafia.  Forgot to mention that in the original post.  Oops.

Okay folks, sorry for the delay.  As I posted earlier I was experiencing technical difficulties.  More precisely, there was a short in the power supply of my modem.  In point of fact when I went to investigate the problem on my own, I inadvertently ended up blowing a fuse in my room.  I contacted the cable company on Friday.  Replacing the power supply and/or modem only takes about 5 minutes or so.  Even so, they said that there was no  one available until today.

Needless to say, that I'm very sorry for the delay.  Also, as my technical issues seem to be well in hand now, I won't be needing an assistant/surrogate after all. Rather than start a separate signup thread, this one shall suffice, since that was my intention after all.

As far as the choice of characters, there are no restrictions.  While I would prefer it to be present and former candidates that are still among the living, it would be rather impractical to insist, with 25 slots to fill.  Therefore whether living or not, real or imaginary, anyone is available.

Sign-ups start.... NOW!

(The game will start 24 hours from now, or when we have 25  candidates/citizens, which ever comes first, so keep an eye out...)

As far as the choice of characters, there are no restrictions.  While I would prefer it to be present and former candidates that are still among the living, it would be rather impractical to insist, with 25 slots to fill.  Therefore whether living or not, real or imaginary, anyone is available.

Hope that clears it up...

Just a minor adjustment.  As I as much as anyone else is eager to eventually have the 'all-star' version of Mafia take place.  Therefore I amend my earlier ruling to keep the sign-ups open until we have 25 participants, even if it runs past he original 24 hour time limit I set.  (about 10:30 Am EST)

The Admiral!!!!!

He's one of the only things I agree with Dennis Miller about:

Quote
Now I know (Stockdale's name has) become a buzzword in this culture for doddering old man, but let's look at the record, folks. The guy was the first guy in and the last guy out of Vietnam, a war that many Americans, including our present President, did not want to dirty their hands with. The reason he had to turn his hearing aid on at that debate is because those fucking animals knocked his eardrums out when he wouldn't spill his guts. He teaches philosophy at Stanford University, he's a brilliant, sensitive, courageous man. And yet he committed the one unpardonable sin in our culture: he was bad on television.

I also agree with Dennis....

It was either Stockdale or Victoria Woodhull.... but I didn't think many would know who she was....

Yup!  And even her choice of VP candidate was historic as well (Frederick Douglass).  So what that she wasn't even eligible to vote, what with being a woman and all....  At least her "sex scandal" was only for sending obscene material through the mail (not that there's anything wrong with that).  ;)

If people are drawing blanks for character ideas, there's still Nixon, President James Marshall (Air Force One), Dubya, Lincoln would be a fun one, hell your options are ENDLESS.  Come on!

Once again, as I've mentioned before, it doesn't HAVE to be an actual live flesh and blood person.  Fictional characters are also acceptable...

With that in mind:

A page containing a plethora of fictional politicians. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_politicians)

A list of unsuccessful presidential candidates from real life (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unsuccessful_United_States_Presidential_candidates_who_received_at_least_one_electoral_vote)

And finally (a little out of date but still mostly accurate):

The version on the CD is much more trenchant.

Out of curiosity I clicked on Harry F. Byrd on that list and found this, thought it was odd. "The John F. Kennedy Library's archives include a note written by President Kennedy with the odd phrase, "Pillow fight in the dark with Harry Byrd." The note is reproduced in Presidential Doodles by David Greenberg (Basic Books 2006)."

I think at some point you're going to have accept that we might not get 25 players for this game.  It's probably the political theme.

Geez! Still facing technical difficulties.  Either the co-ax cable coming into the house has a break/short in it.   That or the signal splitter (I get my internet from the cable company) is malfunctioning.  it's so bad now that I have decided to step down as GM, rather that rather than inconvenience the assembled players any further.  It's intermittent at best, and it could be 3 or 4 days until I can get a service call to take place.  I deeply apologize for any undue stress that this may cause/have caused.  Hopefully I will be able to host Mafia 16 (as I believe someone else has called dibs on 15)  Whomever wishes to carry on as GM does so with my blessings.

* Reporting live from the Fox News Center in New York City, it's Sean Hannity with the latest on Decision 2008!

Well America I have good news and bad news. The good news is that Barack Obama has come down with leprosy and can no longer run for president! Obviously this is a sign from God, showing that he hates liberals and will probably send them all to Hell when Judgement Day comes.

The bad news: So has John McCain. This is obviously a cheap ploy by liberals to try and stop the inevitable election of McCain, those damn liberals and their evil schemes!

Pictured: A Liberal.

Because of these bizarre circumstances, new delegates have been summoned to run for president. Although unconstitutional, most Americans now a days don't even know what a constitution is and just accepted it. That's the way America! Eat up whatever conservatives tell you, but question every word from a liberal, even their sexuality!

Of course, some unsavory groups have decided to use the confusion to get their candidates in office and destroy the core values of American society!

The first group that we know of: The scientists! These evil people want to do the unthinkable! Teach logic and understanding to our children! Just think of the madness this will cause! Next thing you know, they'll want to teach evolution in school! Or accept homosexuality! Ha ha ha ha!.... One of my aides just told me they in fact "do" teach evolution in school. And some states have legalized Gay Marriage. This can only be a sign of God's impending wrath on the Earth.

You know what's worse than Science? Communism! Dirty Reds have infiltrated the candidates and want to convert our capitalistic society into a "everyone is equal' Work together" Utopiastic fantasy bullshit! These candidates must be stopped!

How can we combat these threats? We have several ways my fellow Americans. The first way is to simply vote them out of the race. They must bow to the Majority bandwagoneer vote and leave the race. What? You thought we were going to kill them? What does this race look like, the Mafia? Here in America we are civilized and will let them go, hoping God strikes them with Herpes. Though I do like your forward thinking.

There are other ways as well. We have investigative journalists ceded amongst the delegates, digging up dirt on the candidates. They will than give this information to pundits, embarrassing them on National Television!

This is the most important election in history ladies and gentlemen. We mustn't let this liberal scum win and destroy Christmas. I believe in you. Good luck to you all. (Except for you liberals. You can have shitty luck.)

It's Citizen time! Citizens you have 24 hours to vote!

*Note: The investigative journalist and pundit are the same as Informant and Vigilante respectively to those of you who were confused.

Mr. Hannity? Milo Bloom, Bloom Picayune. A quick  question regarding our "non-living" compatriots.

Will President Luthor or Governor Schwarzenegger be taking an active role in these events? Voting perhaps? And if they do not, will they be subject to the same rules as the rest of our participants?

I think the two phony players are a bad idea.  Bad for the country.  Bad for working class America.  I'm clearly the only one qualified to run this game.  I never once voted for phony players in my senate term.

And we've got Gore.  You know that jerk is going to keep demanding recounts now.  I can just hear the accusations of "hanging Ah-nolds" now.  Does he even know what a chad is? I doubt it.

Mr. Hart pulled into his driveway when he noticed something odd. There was large statue of Lenin, made out of chocolate, on his front lawn. The media ate this up, accusing Mr. Hart of being a red. This wasn't true of course, but he had to bow out of the race because of the undue attention.

The point of voting the "bots" out is that rather than taking random stabs in the dark on the first two rounds and possibly killing off citizens, we kill off people we know are going to get killed in the third round for inactivity anyway. This way, the first two rounds hopefully people reveal things to make them mafiaish and we have a better idea in the third round who to vote for. It also makes it so the mafia doesn't get free hits meaning if we vote off citizens in the first three rounds, there would automatically be 5 citizens down. If we vote off two bots and a citizen in the first three rounds, there would only be 3 citizens down. Makes sense to not give the mafia that extra advantage.

The odds are the same for Luthor being Mafia as they are with anyone else.  I believe it's something like 9 in 11.  I vote Luthor.  Bots have no reasoning skills.  I would rather not let a key vote down the line be decided by chance.

1st off the probability is .27. First person has 1/25, second 1/24, third 1/23 etc.  Since you only need one success you add the probabilities together.  Also the assumption is the bots with get killed for inactivity after round 3 so the "key vote" won't happen.

Former President Lex Luthor did not take the news of his vote-out well. Althoguh he appeared to be well qualified to be president, people were just unsure as to what to make of his platform which was this.

1: Kill Superman
2:???
3: World Domination!

Mr. Luthor was especially irate at James Bond Stockdale for some reason. (He voted for him. Bad luck LBeria with the bots.  :) )

A good lesson to be learned here today is to not piss off a man with infinite financial resources, and a robot suit.

* Sean Hannity reporting live from Alaska.

F&*k it's cold! Oh. Hello there folks. we have more news from Decision 2008.

There were ugly rumors floating around that Sarah Palin wasn't as religous as she professed to be. Of course this was nonsense, but evidence found in her Alaskan log cabin reveal other things. She had a hunting rifles, and several of the delegates had bullseyes on their heads. I admire Mrs. Palin's passion, but apparently some liberal types got upset over this apparent vigilantism so Sarah Palin can no longer run for President.

( Courtney was smeared by the Scientists. She was a Vigilante.)

Breaking News Ladies and Gentleman! Another candidate has been taken out of the race. An anonymous tip was given to the FBI, stating that Mr. Cordell was planning on holding a Communist rally in his hometown. Of course the FBI investigated but they didn't find any evidence of Communism. Instead, they found piles of burned Bibles and a song on the record player constantly saying " I'm an Atheist and I'm ok." Thank the All-Powerful that this evil, God-Hating scientist was taken out of the race. And I guess a little thanks can go to the Commies. Hey, even they can do some things right!

People, what are the odds that Luthor is mafia since he's a fake person? Voting for Ahnold just gave the mafia a free hit and voiting for Luthor will give them another one. I am probably going to get killed for this, but I say we vote for whoever didn't vote for Ahnold last time and hasn't voted for Luthor this time.

That being said. I vote Pak-man

I think this is the opposite of what we should have been doing.  Voting for obvious citizens is giving the mafia a free pass.  I don't care about the 2 bots dying at the end of round three.  That's 2 mafia members we could have had in the mean time.   I vote for Sicgirl.

*Live from New York City, its Sean Hannity!

Well folks we've had a really tumultuous round 3. There was a three-way tie, fortunately there was a tiebreaker just in case something like this happened. William Henry Harrison is the unlucky delegate who will be leaving us. Despite his most vocal critic being an insane anthropomorphic rabbit, his  accusations that Mr. Harrison was Commie-Scientist really drove the press wild! After leaving the race, he died of a heart attack, having lasted even less time than his presidency! On his person a camera was found, showing that Mr.Harrison was doing some snooping on the other delegates. We'll never know what it is he found out.

(anais.jude has been voted out. She was an Investigative Journalist.)

* Breaking News on Decision 2008!

America, a terrible tragedy has befallen one of the delegates of the race. Sources are telling us that the Communists leaked the location of James Bond Stockdale's house to his enemies! At about 8:07 PST, James Stockdale arrived at his home, only to witness it blow the f*&k up right in front of his eyes. Allegedly walking out of the wreckage was none other than Mecha Lex Luthor! Stockdale tried to run away, but coming up behind him was Governor Schwarzenegger! Reportedly, Something seemed odd about the governor, for he was wearing biking garbs, sunglasses at night, and he was wielding a minigun. A few bursts from the fearsome gun later, and Mr. Stockdale was nothing more than a bloody pile. This crime shall not go unavenged! We need to get those commie bastards!

( LBeria has been smeared(Heh, literally) by the Communists. He was a delegate.)

Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho has been taken out of the race. The scientists thought that he was too dangerous of an idiot to be allowed anywhere near a forklift, let alone the whitehouse. Let me give you a few examples of Dwayne's "policies" he wants to enact if he were to become President.

1. Start watering crops with Gatorade.

2. Begin using Destruction derbies as rehabilitation clinics.

3. Start dumping garbage in Yellowstone National Park.

As much as I hate those Scientist assholes, perhaps they finally did something right.

I waited and waited, and global warming doesn't seem to be doing dick (I may have forgotten to carry a one in my calculations). We now face a GREATER threat of global COOLING. The penguin population will THRIVE to dangerous levels. My fellow Americans, I stand before you today to tell you that PENGUINS ARE THE GREATEST THREAT TO OUR WAY OF LIFE SINCE THE AIR CONDITIONER!!!! Despite what propaganda films put out by my opponents say,  PENGUINS CANNOT SING AND DANCE!!! But they can march....right down mainstreet and take jobs from hard working non-penguin Americans!!!

Al makes a good point, but I have said the same many times before.  Screw global warming I say!  I have been saying penguins are bad for decades.  You remember that Al voted FOR penguins before I pointed out that they were bad.  He even made a movie about how much he loved the Penguins and I saw footage of him at the premier of Artic Tale. DO NOT DENY IT.

My sources tell me that Al Gore USES LINUX for god's sake.  Linux? Does your penguin love show no end?!  They have shown me footage of his army of penguins ready to take over the senate:

*Reporting Live from New York City, it's Sean Hannity!

Voted out of the race today was the ever-present Ralph Nader. He had been around for such a length of time that no one even really noticed him anymore, but that all changed Sunday night! At his press conference, he shocked the world by pledging his allegeiance now and forever more to the principles of communism, saying that one day the US would be swept up in the peoples revolution! Mr. Nader was arrested and is being held for questioning regarding the death of James Bond Stockdale. A round of applause must go out to the other delegates, who voted out this potential threat to the sanctity of the American life.

*Breaking News on 2008!

President Maximillian I has been forced out of the race. Several questions were razed, most pertaining to the fact that there was a rabbit running for President. Do they even screen candidates anymore? His campaign advisor, Samuel, at the press conference today that they've received so many death threats in the last few weeks, that they will take time out if the race to find the people who wrote them and kill them. PETA had been protesting severely about his issue, saying that animals should have every right to run for President. Due to the absurdity of this, I must take a break to regain my composure.

(Pak-Man has been smeared by the Scientists. He was a delegate.)

In other news, Mr. Backlund was found dead this morning. Bob was one of Ralph Naders biggest decryers in the weeks leading up to his eventual vote-out of the race. There were already concerns for the safety of Mr. Backlund, but alas, security hadn't acted fast enough. When Bob Backlund turned the ignition of his car, it trigggered the bomb that ended his life. Many of noticed the blood thirsty nature of the Reds the last few weeks. There's a simple explanation for that friends, their Communists. Communists are born evil.

How could you vote for me?? Look at that face -- I'm nearly dead! I have no fight left in me at all. The only worry I have is whether or not those damned nurses come around to change my colostomy bag.

Young Strom Thurmond might have retaliated, but elderly Strom Thurmond is too infirm to know what he's doing. To that end, I'm voting for Walter Mondale. He has a chance!

Walter Mondale has bigger concerns than being bored by Al Gore's presentation.

*Live from Minnesota, it's Sean Hannity!

Leaked today was irrefutable evidence that Walter Mondale was working with radical Scientist groups. Video evidence was shown, on it Mr. Mondale was making disparaging comments about former Candidate President Max, and was seen sending some of the death threats! The vengeful rabbit and his campaign adviser Sam confronted Mondale, which led to a fatal gun battle, where Mr. Mondale was fatally wounded. Max, and his canine friend, have been taken to a mental institution. Unbelievable developments ladies and gentlemen, who knows where this crazy race will take us next?

* Reporting live from New York City, its Sean Hannity!

It's official folks, Al Gore has been voted out of the race for the Presidency. He had recently become very active in politics, ranging from fighting ManBearPig, to crusading against Mother Nature. His scientific presentations led people to believe he was in cahoots with the same group that has been dirupting this election. He came out today and revealed that he had no ties to those groups, but he would still campaign against Global Warming. Of course, regular Fox News listners know that Global Warming is just a farce created by liberals to scare people into voting for them. You should stick to real threats Al, like ManBearPig, instead of fantasies.

*Breaking News from New York City!

It's unbelievable whats happened in the last 24 hours. We knew it was a matter of time before the scientists retaliated for the loss of their comrade Walter Mondale, they just needed to find out the identity of the pundit. At 9:00 EST, Rudy Giuliani was attacked on the streets of New York City. Reports are indicating that the former mayor was the pundit who outed Mondale, and that the perputrators who attacked Giuliani were hitmen hired by the scientists! Unfortunately for the would-be attackers, they had no idea that the mayor had the power of 9/11 on his side! He was able to beat off his attackers and escape unharmed. Unfortunately the mayor won't be able to help us anymore for he will have to go into hiding.

(Tank has been smeared by the scientists. He was a Pundit.)

In other news, John Adams has been admitted into a hospital following his collapse this morning. Preliminary reports indicate that he has been poisoned with radioactive residue, clearly this is the doing of the Communists. To add to the strangeness of all this, it hasn't been John Adams running for President, but Paul Giamatti dressing as Adams running. Odd, don't know how that got past everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Paul Giamatti.

John Adams made a good point about Thomas Whitmore in the last round. . . and now he's dead.  It would be just like the Commies to think we wouldn't think they were dumb enough to kill someone who accused them and do it because they think we wouldn't accuse them because we're smart enough to think they wouldn't even think to do that.  Maybe we're smart enough to think that they think that we wouldn't think that they'd think...uh...anyway.

My fellow Americans, ignore that.  Let's all have the strength and experience to make change happen and vote for therul (Whitmore).

Why are you all backing away?  I guess that slogan didn't work against Obama either.  You are a worth advisory, Whitmore.

* Live from New York City its Sean Hannity!

Good evening America, another candidate goes down in the race for the Presidency. Mrs. Clinton was voted out today. Although she's vowed to fight this decision till the end, her advisors tell her its pretty much an impossibility at this point. And yet she keeps going. And going. And going. Geez, just quit already.  :grr:

( AmandaGal has been voted out. She was a delegate.)

And Fox News would like to correct a mistake we made yesterday. It was not Paul Giamatti who was poisoned, but Robin Williams! Robin Williams had disguised himself as Paul Giammati, and Paul likewise did the same with Williams. The confusion they created led to the Communists killing the disguised Robin Williams. When asked for comment today, all Mr. Giammati had to say was that they did it to try and throw off the Commies and the scientists, and that he is sorry it led to his friend's death. The family of Paul Giammati is obviously thankful for the safety of their loved one, and Fox News apologizes for the mistake.

* Breaking News on Decision 2008!

We're reporting live from Area 51, where an attempt was made on the life of Thomas Whitmore, the president who saved us all from alien extermination. Mr. Whitmore must have endeared some hate from both of the remaining communist and scientist groups, as they both sent men to take out the heroic leader. The confusion at the scene must have bought some time for the President to get in a jet and get the hell out of there. His last radio contact was this, " ... barely made it out of there... gonna go teach those damn Belgians a lesson..". We don't know what Belgium has to do with this conspiracy, but we'll be sure to keep you posted.

Once again, I feel I must make my case against Prez, the first teen president. Friends, his inexperience is indisputable and I shudder to think what this country will become under his incompetent leadership. Furthermore, he exhibits shocking levels of ageism in his smear campaign against me by accusing me of eating apples. Everyone knows the elderly cannot eat apples without having them pureed first. He really hurt my feelings with that remark. *sniff*  :'(

To that end, I cast my vote for (or against) Johnny Unusual.

I still think it's Strom Thurmond.  Little at him over there, eating that apple.  What's he planning?

I believe this implies a single apple, as opposed to applesauce.

Thank you.

* Live from New York City, it's Sean Hannity!

Shocking news ladies and gentleman! Earlier today, Strom Thrumond was voted out of the race! We have a live feed from the event!

Aide: Mr. Thuromnd, I regret to inform you sir, but.... you've been voted out of the race.

Thurmond: What's that? My soups ready?

Aide: No sir, you're no longer candidate for President.

Thurmond: What's that? I'm no longer a carrot?

Aide: NO SIR! YOU'VE BEEN VOTED OUT OF THE RACE FOR PRESIDENT.

Thurmond: Wha? But.. they'll find out! *ACK*

Shortly thereafter, Mr. Thurmond suffered a fatal heart attack. Falling out of his coat pocket was this.

A tiny Communist Flag!

Further searching of his office and home revealed other incriminating evidence, all tieing Strom Thrumond to the Communists who've been running amok in the election. Hit orders, bomb instructions, even plans to build an Alien mothership! ( Somehow ) Given the condition of Strom Thurmond, we can only assume that there must be someone else working with him. We can only hope that their identity is revealed before the next attack.

* Breaking News on Decision 2008!

This is unprecedented folks! Absolutely unprecedented! For the second time in a row, the Communists and the Scientists have teamed up to take down another candidate! The victim this time was Mike Gravel, who bizarelly decided to state his name backwards the entire election. Reports indicate that Mike Gravel was walking to his car, when someone pushed him down the stairs! A beaker was found at the top of the staris, indicating that it was a scientist who pushed Mr. Gravel down the steps. Mike Gravel was already gravely injured after this nasty fall, but than another Killer emerged from the shadows, this time stabbing straight through Mr. Gravel's heart with a spear. Attached to the spear was a Communist flag, obviously to take credit for the kill.  These are dangerous times America. It seems that our enemies are in cahoots ( or it could be a bizarre set of coincidences.) We can only hope  a brave American stands up to our enemies and brings justice back into this race.

Jefferson Davis, the former President of the CSA, has been arrested on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Why you ask? Voters where very suspicious of him given the fact he and Strom Thurmond were very close friends ( and shared many views.) Police executed a search warrant against Mr. Davis, where they found bombs, guns, Communist flag spears, and plans to commit even more crimes. I would just like to take this moment on congratulating all the remaining delegates. You've helped keep America safe from the threat of Communism! For that, we all salute you.

Well we have another victim on the campaign trail. Benjamin Harrison, grandson of William Henry Harrison, can no longer continue his campaign. He was at his home in Indianapolis, when an angry swarm of nanomachines covered his home and devoured everything. The only people who could possibly create these monstrosities are the Scientists! *Live from New York City it's Sean Hannity!

Well folks, the election is over! It came down to three candidates. Opus D. Penguin. Teen Prez, and the father of the constitution himself, John Adams. Teen Prez rallied hard against Mr. Adams, claiming that the country needed someone new and fresh, not an old crusty square like John Adams. Mr. Adams didn't pay any attention to these attacks, instead focusing on this Penguin fellow. When the election time came to pass, Mr. Penguin was just a few minutes late, and the people have spoken!

Mr. Adams will have to leave the race!

( Agent Ispep has been voted out. He was a delegate.)

We are recoding live feed from Teen Prez's press conference!

Teen Prez: Thanks to all the cool dudes and gals who've given their support over the last few weeks! Many of you have heard about these Scientist fellows, thinking they are so uncool that they should be drawn and quartered in the town square! I'm here to tell you that's not the case dudes! Being a scientist is groovy! Atheism is A-OK! When I'm in the white house, I'm gonna make sure groovy scientific ideas are accepted throughout every facet of American Life! Rock On!

*Cut the feed

This is sick. Absolutely sick. I counted on you people to prevent these monsters from getting to the most powerful position in the world! We can only hope that Opus D. Penguin, who will share the Presidency with Teen Prez, can limit the damage he will do. Though I have my worries that all Opus will care about is the next time he gets his daily fish.

Well here are your winners of Decision 2008!

If you don't mind Dim, I'd like you to do the honors when it comes to breaking down the game! You and Olbermann have been awesome sauce in the purgatory thread!

I never thought I would have to say this, but thank you, Sean Hannity.  I realize of course that there may be a special place in Hell reserved for us thanks to this collaboration, but in this case, I think it'll be well worth it.

Good evening, this is October 5, 13 days since my arrival on the forums, and the first day of the Prez/Opus presidency.

Despite the major footbullet the anti-democracy parties have administered to each other, the final Scientist has managed to slip through the cracks and deliver the final blow, spelling as much as a victory for the Scientists as he could manage.  Opus D. Penguin, the last remaining delegate, was selected for the Vice Presidency.

So now, we have a teenage Scientist and a penguin in the Oval Office.  Hell yeah, democracy!

And now, it's up to me to break down the game.  I don't exactly see any reason to change a good thing, so first, we turn to

World's Best Persons

for the top players of the game.

Before we hit the top three, a special mention goes to...

Number 3:

But our Number 1 Best Person:

Even with the dedication to the campaign that all of the characters have had, somebody had to come out on the bottom.  It has been a trying time for all of us, testing the limits of all of the candidates as they fought and struggled for the presidency, and I have nothing but respect for all of you.  But the fact remains, you guys DID let a Scientist into the White House.  Morons.

What's that?  Live and let live?  Of course not!  I have ratings to think of!  No, it's time for

Worst Persons In The World

The bronze metal goes to...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our runner-up?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But our winners?

Worst... Persons... IN THE WORLD!

...

I love saying that.

With that, my tenure on the RiffTrax Roundtable has ended.  Unless another campaign or big political event pops up here, I will only be sticking around in the archives of the forums.  I quite enjoyed my time here, but I'd hate to overstay my welcome.  And so, viewers, it's time for me to say good-bye.

That's Countdown, for this the 13th day since the beginning of RiffTrax Roundtable Decision 2008.  I'm Keith Olbermann.  Good night, and good luck.

Actually, I figured that if I killed him, people would assume that it was simply someone trying to frame me, rather than just me.  Personally, I almost rarely go after people who vote for me.  Also, although I never knew for sure, I had an inkling that Thurmond was a communist and that he may have known I was a scientist.

I wanna know how I got a vigilante hit on me after both informants were killed off.  I wasn't getting too many votes, thought I was flying under the radar and then kablammo!  I got my own October surprise!

The vigilante can hit who he/she wants to, without the informant's consent or input...and flying under the radar often means mafia :)

I know.  I was just questioning why me.  I thought I was in the free and clear as far as suspicions went.

Sure, he was already dead at the time, and Palin was already dead, so no identities of other Investigative Journalists or Pundits were compromised.  However, he had still released information to the enemy that the other Pundit was not flying blind.

I still don't agree with the logic there: Not all information is helpful to the Mafia, unless they know who the other team are, knowing they are still active isn't helpful to them.

Best character.  Strom Thurmond (wurwolf), despite being a Communist bastard and eliminating many good and honest people from the campaign (not to mention one Scientist), has not altered her persona one bit.  She never dropped her memorable, charming personality throughout the entire game, and is one of the nominees that people will be talking about for years to come.

We can only hope that Thurmond will remember that she ever ran for President in the first place.

Aw, thanks, Dim! You made my day. It was my first mafia game and I think the fact that I had no idea what the hell I was doing served my character well. It was fun! Thanks to everyone who put it together!

But our Number 1 Best Person:

Best head on the best pair of shoulders.  Bob Backlund (Raven), after one round of drawing moderate attention to himself for pointing out Ralph Nadar's (Sicgirl) logical fallacies, was proven too smart for this campaign.  In a season where shots in the dark and flawed logic were the cornerstones of accusations, Backlund was memorable in his attempts to bring intelligence and rational thought to a bizarre campaign season.

He just cared too much.  And that, my friends, makes a man dangerous!

Well thanks Keith.  Nice to get some recognition.  Alas, logic usually gets a bullet through your skull in these games, so I fear I will never make it to the end of one.
