Well, just speaking for myself, if we don't riff a new release the week it comes out, I'd prefer for the riff to be a few months down the line. Why? Simple. Cost.  For purchasing, right now, "Legend" is at its highest cost. The opening week sales are over and the "let's lower the price point to move this" sales haven't started yet. So it's going to be a $15-$20 disc. And, well, if I wanted to pay that, I would have bought the disc when it came out.

And rental? I added it to my Netflix queue before it came out. (As I actually do want to see it. It's just not more that a $10 disc for me.) It's still at "Long Wait" around here. So, it looks like I wait a while to see it.  (shrug) I'm not storming out of here or anything. I'm just a little disappointed at the timing.

It's a bit of a gamble, but I've just started ebaying some of the movies. I usually get them at least half the retail cost. I remember getting Beowulf for less than ten bucks and I just got the Spider-Man 3 blu ray for like fifteen bucks as opposed to like, thirty five. But as I said before, it's a gamble and I've been lucky so far.

Oh, I've picked up a number of Rifftrax discs on ebay and on Amazon marketplace as well. But Legend (with shipping) is still in the $10-$15 range on ebay, as it's still a pretty new disc.  And that's still above my price range. Oh well. It'll be $9.99 by June or so.

My take on it is that Cloverfield felt forced. It felt the entire way through the movie that they were just trying to come up with jokes about a popular movie instead of being genuinely inspired by a movie that truly had it coming.

Exactly.

And another thing. In an interview a while back, Mike said something about a backlog of movies that everyone watches, and how, once that backlog gets filled up, they'll be able to riff more obscure movies. Surely you've got that filled up now, right? Or how long is it going to take? Till you've got 100 movies?
200? 500?

what difference does it make how recently a movie was released?

There is none. The problem is that you're doing new movies and nothing but, over and over again, with the excepection of guest riffers, and it makes you guys seem like

Well?
I've heard a lot of opinions on the forums on this subject... figured we could get some numbers.

Weigh in!

I mean, I have no idea what their mindset is, since I'm not one of them (but I plan on being Bill Corbett someday)

You can have the gig, DC.  I'm kind of bored with it, and plan on being Dee Snider for a while.

Start losing that hair, mister!

We do listen to the feedback, though...

Is it wrong that I read that as if you were saying it with an extreme amount of sarcasm while trying to hold back fits of laughter?

Hey, I was told I had to say "Bill Corbett" three times in front of a mirror to summon him. Yet this guy only mentioned him once. What gives?

Yeah.  That's what sucks about people being individuals.  Sometimes we have different opinions and viewpoints.
