Heh. Looks like I'll have to edit my post about the October 25th CT live riffing being the first public one. I hope that all of you that go have a lot of fun. I'd consider going but I'll be driving back home from Riff Raff Theater's live riffing in Iowa that day.

Here's what I wrote in my MySpace blog today. It's basically a rewrite of the post I made on the MST3K forum. Sunday, April 27, 2008
Ciematic Titanic Live Show Current mood: satisfied Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
For those of you who don't know, Joel, Frank, Trace (Dr. Forrester), Mary Jo (Pearl), and J. Elvis Weinstein (Larry) from MST3K have gotten together for a new project called Cinematic Titanic. I still haven't been able to get their first release (The Oozing Skull), but when I heard they were coming to Dallas for a live "riffing" of an undisclosed movie, I just had to get tickets.
We got to see the show, but for some reason didn't go to the panel discussion beforehand. I'm smacking myself in the head for not doing that because apparently, if you went to the panel, you got to go into the theater first for the movie. Well, somehow, even though we got there early enough to be in the first third of the line waiting to see the movie, Bianca and I ended up being the ONLY people sitting in the aisle. I think there were a couple single seats across the theater from each other, but I just didn't feel like leaving her alone in a sea of strangeness . . . I mean strangers.
Aside from our sucky seating arrangements, the movie riffing was hilarious. And the choice of movie (Wasp Woman) was perfect for CT. They did a great job and it was amazing to be able to see it live.
Luckily they did an autograph session after the movie, too, so I got all their autographs and got to shake hands. To top it off, I was wearing my Tom Servo shirt and Joel actually offered to sign it without me even asking (of course I let him). Now I'll have to put the shirt on the wall instead of wearing it, but that's okay . . . it gives me a reason to get that Crow shirt I've been wanting.
So, despite a bit of disappointment at my luck in finding seats, it was an awesome night and I'm glad I finally got to see my comedic heroes in the flesh. Now all I need to be complete in my live riffing experience is to have the guys from Rifftrax (Mike, Kevin, and Bill) to come to Dallas. On another note, according to the itenerary, Kevin was supposed to be part of the panel. Unfortunately, he was apparently sick and wasn't able to attend. I'm almost glad he wasn't able to make it because then I really would've been banging my head against the wall for not going to the panel. I hope he's feeling better, though.

I'm just glad someone came to Dallas for a change. Every time I hear about a live event it's out in California or Minnesota. I doubt I would've been able to go if it had even been in Austin or Houston since I had other responsibilities during the day this weekend (visitation).

Yeah, I noticed that there were SOLD OUT signs all over the place when I got there. Apparently it sold out in presale through Ticketmaster. And I know for a fact there were more people in there than there were supposed to be for two reasons. First, my wife and I ended up sitting in the aisle. Second, the guy in front of me in the autograph line said that he got tickets because he worked there and was able to get them somehow at the last minute. It didn't occur to me that it was because of douchebags like him that we ended up in the aisle. That and the afore-mentioned buttmunches who sat in the "reserved" seats.

Yeah, it was The Wasp Woman. Great choice, by the way. Now I have to see Josh Way's treatment of the film to see how they compare.

So nobody knows what the movie was?
The Wasp Woman. It was hilarious. My only regret is that Kevin Murphy apparently got real sick and couldn't attend. The Q&A was especially funny. They are still on top of their game. Example. Obsessed fan: Joel, I have been waiting fifteen years for this. Joel: Oh my God, you're here to kill me. Obsessed fan: Fifteen years ago, me and my friends made a video making fun of Torgo and sent it to you, and a few months later, MST3K did a bit very similar to that video. Frank: Joel, he is here to kill you. Joel: Look I'll pay you want you want. Please don't hurt me. Obsessed fan: I just want to know if you saw that video we made after we saw Manos. Joel: Wait a minute. You saw Manos, made a video, and then later we ripped off your Torgo video for the Manos episode? You've entered a time warp my friend! Trace: Ummm, we get a LOT of mail. Favorite quote from the riffing: (as somebody is leafing through a journal) "What is this? Ewww, who the hell keeps a masturbation journal?"

That HAD to have come from Frank.

That HAD to have come from Frank. According to the review I read over at AICN, that remark was by Mary Jo.

Wow, "Wasp Woman". Good choice!
Looks like everyone is dipping into the Josh Way catalogue.
