I actually liked Superman Returns. It would be cool if they had a supervillian, but it would really seem odd since they haven't had any yet. This isn't one that I'd skip a sequel on, no matter who's doing it. (Unless it's Schumacher or Bay.)

Zod and Co. were indeed established Supervillains. Unfortunately, the fact that they were basically just three Supermans meant that we didn't get any new tricks.
In the next movie,

I understand giving up Lex again for Superman Returns, Lex Luthor has been the most recognizable nemesis for Superman in every version of the Superman story, but I definitely agree its time to shake things up and give us something new in the movies. We've had what, one movie without Lex? And we just replaced him with Richard Pryor and some wacky computer. Braniac would kick ass if done right.

You know, when I was watching Superman Returns I spent the whole movie hoping the super-kid was really Brainiac. I mean, I just don't buy Superman having an illegitimate kid, not realizing it and then flying into space for five years? I don't buy it! Hulk? Sure! Iron Man? I'd be surprised if he didn't! But Superman? That makes him either grossly irresponsible, stupid or a dick!
You nailed it with the last one. Superman's always a dick. Point taken (I do like super-dickery), but clearly Superman Returns had Superman being a dick in a less entertaining manner. I mean, what's more awesome to watch: Superman having a child and then leaving for five years or Supeman chucking a car with Lois Lane attached? That said, Kevin Spacey was an awesome Luthor. In retrospect, I could watch him potray every character in that movie. Think about it: a love triangle between Kevin Spacey, Kevin Spacey and Kevin Spacey! Kevin Spacey revealed as Kevin Spacey's father! Kevin Spacey throws a continent into space! All this and more in... Spacey returns! You'll believe Kevin Spacey can make up for the Life of David Gale.

I thought he was Mullet Man? Or was that "Peaked in High School Man"? I think he neutralized Zod and therefore there have been none.

As much as I can admire Kevin's ability to channel Hackman, I find the notion that this in any way improves the film to be WRONNNGGG!!(Sorry.)

Spacey made watching Lex Luthor fun for me, something Hackman could never pull off.

Hmm, yeah. I agree. Spacey made watching Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor fun for me in a way Gene Hackman alone never could.
