Interesting. I guess I haven't bought many new movies on DVD lately--mostly I've gotten BDs for newer releases--and the TV shows I get are usually in digipacks.

Found a post over at TvShowsOnDvd.com about The Shield:

Quote
Yesterday saw Sony's release of The Shield - The Complete Series Collection on DVD, in collectible book-style packaging. Some readers have told us that they got and opened up their copy, and found scratches on their discs. This isn't universal to every copy, as many other fans have bought copies that had no problems whatsoever.  And unfortunately you can't tell what the situation is until you literally get your copy home and open it up to use it.  However, we've spoken to Sony, and they stand by their product. If you did find any scratched discs in your set, then you can contact the studio using the following method, and replacement discs will be sent to you with no additional charge. Just contact them toll-free at 877-SONY-4YOU (that's 877-766-9496), or if you prefer you can e-mail them at consumer@SPHECustomerSupport.sony.com and they'll help you out that way. Our thanks to Sony for this info!

That is good news. We will see how the feel about sending me at least 18 discs.

My local Dollar Tree had several MGM titles for sale. I picked up Thunderbirds Are Go! and Absolute Beginners for $1 each. I may go back and get De-Lovely, as well.

Best Buy has it for $24.99 right now.

For the Blu-Ray? That's pretty boss.

Was it approved by the Council of Presbylutherans?

For anyone out there who might be interested: My nearby Wal-Mart has the Blu-Ray of UP (which includes a regular DVD and "Digital Copy") for $19.77

Oh...absolutely!  Doesn't stop them from being a source of unintentional comedy, though.   Grin

Yeah it was the same price as the DVD. I was happy.

Thanks, gbee!  Bought and bought.

And to think I was about to burn $23.99 on the thing at Best Buy earlier today.  The only downside is the little grooves the antitheft sarcophagus cut into the cardboard slipcover.

Am I the only one who doesn't care for the Digital Copies of movies they put in these? Seems like a waste of a disc.

But then, I don't put movies on my computer or iPod, so I have no need for it past the actual DVD.

Yep, I don't care at all either.

I bought a bunch of blu-rays, but that's covered over in that thread.

Yeah, more Blockbusters closing in my area and... well, I went a bit nuts:

Gamebox 1.0
Timecop 2
Meet Dave (For Bill)
Postal (Yes, I realize that I hate this film. I bought it to inflict on others.)
Boogeyman 3
Fired Up
Extreeeeeeme Movie
Transmorphers Fall of Man
The Eye
Crusade a March Through Time
Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus
Transporter 3
The Last Resort
Wild Things Diamonds in the Rough

And without cases:
Be Cool
Saw ?  (They don't put any useful info on the Saw labels)
28 Weeks Later
Swimfan
Darkness
and another copy of The Wicker Man, just in case

Yep, a huge amount of suck in that list. Of those films, there's about 5 that I've seen and didn't like. Yet I bought them anyone because they were cheap.
