However you define the arc, Star Trek 2 is probably a better starting place for a new viewer (not to mention just a better movie all around, as much as I do enjoy 3 and 4)

That is cool. I hope you didn't pay too much for it. For the people that want the Killer but can't find the Criterion there is an excellent release from Hong Kong that came out a few years ago that you can still get. It is anamorphic (the Criterion is not) and has great subtitles and some bonus features. You can get it from YES ASIA for only 13.99. They are really fast shippers and you can use Paypal too. I have bought several DVDs from them over the years.
