Bay's replacement? Tongue

Baldelli's replacement, for sure. I'm curious as to what kind of attention Bay will receive on the open market and wondering if the Sox will go more than four years w/ him. I'm guessing it will take 5/75 when it's all said and done.

GM meetings this week...*cheers*

It's all out baseball-giddiness for me throughout  the next 6 weeks!

Are you getting used to the idea of Marco Scutaro, k1? Secondly, will Theo relinquish the 1st round pick??

There's speculation we're gonna be in for Lackey...

...but we all know the Yankees need 3 aces, so they'll net him.

I'd be ok with Scutaro.  He doesn't really scare me like the potential (and eventual) signing of Lugo did.  Same with Edgar Rent-a-wreck.

No clue on the picks.

I am glad to see we upped Wakefield for 2 more years (and for less than his standing never-ending option!).  I'm really hoping he can reach his goal of becoming the Sox all time wins leader.

As long as his back and knees hold up, he should be able to pitch forever......

The legs is what finally caused Nolan Ryan to retire, not the arm (but he was a freak of nature).

It's nice to see the Baseball Writers' Association of America get the AL Cy Young right. Greinke was absolutely disgusting in '09. Congrats, Zack!

Thanks Tek, for exercising your player option!

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/11/brewers-claim-george-kottaras.html

I like George and would love to see him get some regular at-bats against right-handed pitching. This also means Kendall should be gone! Double-win!!

This cracked me up...

Like others have expressed, I'm so happy my team plays in the NL.  Cheesy

A shade over ten hours until the free agency frenzy begins!

And Bay turns down the BoSox's first offer...the drama!

No shock there.  He said he wanted to see what other teams had to offer.

The Giants pitcher won the Cy Young despite have less wins, more losses and higher ERA that Chris Carpenter because two writers left him off their ballet.   What a fucking joke.

But don't forget, he's also a stoner which makes his pitching stats more impressive!  Roll Eyes

I hope Theo stands pat at 4/60, and I'm curious as to just how strong the market for Bay's really going to be. Holliday & Lackey are definitely going to cash in, but I'm not so sure about Bay. If he gets 5+ years, that's going to get ugly. For fun, I hope the Yankees get involved and jack his going rate up a notch and wouldn't be surprised seeing him ending up on the west coast playing for the Halos or Giants. I love hot stove drama.

For your dissatisfaction, you can thank Keith Law & Will Carroll...they didn't include Carp on their ballots. Arguably, two of the brightest minds in the business. He would've been off mine, too.

If you want to break them down statistically, the best pitcher won, and the second best pitcher took fourth. If I had a ballot it would've been...

Lincecum
Vasquez
Wano

I'm not taking anything away from what Carp accomplished this season, for which was awesome to see, but in the end, the writers got this one right, too. It isn't often that happens.

And Timmy, mad congrats on becoming the first pitcher in the history of the game to accomplish what you have.
