Technically you're only one degree of seperation from him.

Wouldn't that be two? I thought knowing someone who knew the person in question made it two degrees?

Hey, Chris, Chaos- if i killed everyone who voted for Armageddon, do we still have to do it?

I already spent 14.3 seconds generating the .srt file for it, so... yes.

(Yes... that's right. I actually took the time to write a script that tells me how long it takes to generate files that I use code to automatically generate. I'm that fucking nerdy.)

That's wonderful. It's wonderful to know that even if I die (and the other um, certain amount of people (what was it 28)) Armeggedon (like my heart) will go on.

Hey, just got one more question; Do you get any kind of confirmation when you send in your script, or if any of your material gets used?

Edit: And can you send in additional material after you've sent in your script? Also, can I send my script in if I wrote it on Microsoft Word?

No confirmation is sent.  So far they haven't told us ahead of time if they used any jokes, (with Batman & Robin being the exception) although they did mention at the live show that if any of your jokes were used you would get a copy of the riff for free when they start charging.   I assume they would probably let you know ahead of time instead of going through a process of refunding your money.  The script has to be put into the .xls format to be submitted so Microsoft Word won't work.   Right Chaos.

Hey, can we have some help here? We've spent two weeks writing a script and we have it all written up in Microsoft Word, and we don't have Microsoft Excel or anything of that sort and are clueless on how to convert it to xls. format. We would appreciate any help! If all else fails, would it be possible to send our script to someone who can convert it and could send it in for us?

Quote
First of all, let me start off by saying that this is OPTIONAL. We do not require you to use the .srt file to write your script. We provide it because we feel it is not very hard to use, and it makes your timecodes MUCH more dependable (therefore making it easier for us to use your material, and take less time for the script editing process to be completed... and therefore a higher quality product overall). So if you are able to use this, we would appreciate it, and everyone will benefit. But if you are not able to use it, don't sweat it, we're still happy to accept your material in the traditional method we have used so far.

Does that mean we can just paste the text into an email and send it to them, also? Without having to convert it?

We realize that you want us to use the New Script Template, which we've tried. But after downloading it when we try to open it we get a message saying our computer doesn't know how to open the file because it doesn't know what program created it. So we're at a loss.

i direct you to one of Chaos's earlier posts

www.openoffice.org

No computer should be without it.

I already had Microsoft Office 2008 installed, but i installed OpenOffice and its fully compatible.   Just use Calc  and Save as . xls and you'll be all set.  Though you'll have to go through the lengthy process of cutting and pasting it from the Word format to fit in the little boxes.

Got my script sent just now.  Not as many riffs as I had for B&R, about 210 total, but they're spread mostly evenly I think.  I did feel like I was running on empty for the Quatermain/Moriarty and Hyde/Big Red Thing fights though.

The "if you are not able to use it" quote refers to the .srt subtitle file. We did say upfront that we are ONLY accepting scripts in Excel format for this movie (that may change in the future as our new website's development continues, but for now, that is the accepted format). I also provided a link to a free program that would allow you to save in .xls format (openoffice.org).

Please install open office (or, really, if you have access to MS Word, you ought to have access to Excel anyway) and try to put your script into the template we provided and instructed everyone to use upfront. If you are absolutely unable to do this, then PM me and I will try (TRY) to find the time to do the conversion work for you, but I am not making any promises because my plate is very full right now. We're working on 3 movies simultaneously, I have my normal job to deal with, and I have an exam next week that I'm supposed to be studying for.

Please be sure to read the instructions we provide at the beginning of the project before you start writing next time, to make sure you are using the correct formatting and procedures.

If all else fails, send it to me and I'll make a stab at converting it. Just send it ASAP so that I actually have time to do so.
