Well I am still working on the "Class not Registered" error message but I was curious about an earlier player version. It looks like I get the current version on install now when I do it. Maybe I need to clear the cache but it automatically is installing the latest update. Still not sure what is causing it it if it's a conflict or I deleted or uninstalled something that the RiffTrax player is looking for that was linked with another program. Well I'm still working on it and watching with the synch drifting off in the mean time

Ok so at first it wasn't working, but then it was and now I click on load rifftrax and I get this TSFSHugeFile.Read - Stream read error. so is that your site loading incorrectly or should I try re-downloading the rifftrax. Although I have tried to re download it twice.

Fixes are coming! Just bear with me. Going to be able to work on the player and hopefully fix a lot of your errors in the near future. Just a little more time, peoples.
In the meantime, Torgo made it so that you can download an older version of the player. I recommend you do so, and then disconnect your network when you start up with the old player. Hopefully that'll work.
For people with Vista, be sure to use compatibility mode if you don't want to down grade. That has been successful in most of the cases that I've run into.

OK, same deal as a lot of folks: RiffTrax not loading anything, and refusing to uninstall. Was working more or less OK just a day or two ago (error messages as mentioned elsewhere here but I could just click through them and worked fine), problem appears to have occured when first attempting to load Dark Knight riff file. Now locks up upon attempting to load (doesn't get to the little loading bar for the file), and the one time it did open successfully got error someone else mentioned in forum where playblack locked up at Joker message pre-movie playing. I did a reinstall operation to try to repair things, no go. Uninstall option gets to point where should be a progress bar and does nothing. Tried running with Internet off, program crashed out. I'm using Windows XP SP2, 3 gig Intel Duo Core2 CPU, 3 gigs RAM, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX, Creative Soundblaster card (Xi-Fi I *think*), fully up-to-date Acrobat flash/codecs/etc. Also have two DVD drives in machine if that's factor.

I have literally downloaded every program you suggested in the beginning, and even a few that others posted. The K-Light Pack, the power dvd demo, I even downloaded the newest windows media player, and the update for K-light you suggested. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Rifftrax player, and still nothing. By now Im a bit frustrated, having spent some time working on this myself. And every time I try running rifftrax and loading the file, I get a message the reads as follows: Rendering of Standard dvd files failed. This errors is caused by not having the standard capability of rendering dvd filters- We suggest you check to make sure you have a dvd video decoder &audio decoder installed on your machine!
And to top it all off, I already had a dvd player that could play movies just fine before, and it still does. I will use that for now, But I had really hoped to be able to use my rifftrax player. If you can help please do so. My system uses Windows Xp home edition, service pack 2 is has a pentium four cpu at 3.00 ghz, its a little old I know, but it should run this just fine.

In response to the post jsut before mine, I found the cuase for it refusing to uninstall. Hit CTRL ALT and Delete, then look under processes, if you look you will find that rifftrax is still running at the same time as the uninstall program. End the rifftrax process by right clicking on them and choosing the set option but do NOT close the uninstall/install program. Once the processes are stopped, it should uninstall just fine.

I had the same problems with the error messages and uninstalling and all that. Basically i would put the dvd in and load the riff track and get error messages. After clicking ok on the errors, it would go back to the riff trax player. But the player didn't seem to recognize there was a dvd even inserted and all the play buttons were grayed out.
After installing the current codec pack things still did the same thing. So what I did was set the dvd codecs to manual and if i use the cyberlink video/SP decoder (PDVD7) and the AC3filter everything works fine. I still get the error messages when i first start but after that everything works.
I thought this might help someone else having the same problem.

Yeah the error messages have something to do with our server, usually, but they can be safely ignored. We're still looking into the root cause. Thanks for posting!

I've scanned the thread and it doesn't look like people have had the exact problem I am.
I can load the rifftrack into the rifftrax player no problem, but when I pop the DVD (Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone) into my computer, the DVD starts playing in a separate player (InterActual) instead of rifftrax. (InterActual isn't my default player, either. My default is Realplayer.) I told the player to make the rifftrax player the default for such DVDs, and now nothing happens when I load the DVD into my computer.
If I tell the computer to play the DVD in PowerDVD (via My Computer) it will do so, it just doesn't give me any options to force it to load into rifftrax. I'm getting really aggravated, and just want to watch my riffed version of HP.

Hi, I'm having a problem. I've downloaded the Player, and tried using Empire Strikes back. I get an error message, if that has anything to do with it. I play the movie, but I have to hit "Play Riff Introduction" for the riff file to play. This makes it harder to synch. Can someone help me?

Hey guys,
Having a bit of a problem here (obviously, lol)...I've scanned the thread and I don't believe I've seen a similar problem, but I be wrong. A thousand apologies if that's the case.
Anywho, I downloaded the Player earlier today and loaded my Matrix RiffTrax file, which worked fine (well, it was about 2-3 seconds behind, but nothing all that noticeable)...about 30 minutes into the movie, I stopped it, shut down my computer, caught some Z's, and a few hours later, when I wanted to resume watching, I double-click the RiffTrax DVD Player logo and...nothing. Nothing happens. At all. No error message, just nothing. I've tried uninstalling it and re-installing it, and still nothing. I've tried opening it every plausible way I can think of, but nothing happens!
Help?

Ok what is going on, I get these continual server errors and there doesn't seem to be a resolution. I completely uninstalled the old stuff and re-installed and still problematic, what is going on with this 'new' version and why does it need to keep contacting a server?

It's an error we're trying to fix but apparently not having a lot of luck. You should be able to ignore the error and still play the riff.
We're currently working on a new, Open Source version of the player to do away with all these issues once and for all. No ETA yet since it's still in the research phase, but hopefully you can wait - and for now do things the "non-Player" way. If not, I completely understand. Just keep in mind that there are only two programmers here, and a few people helping us from the forum, but we don't have the capacity to take on the player issues on a full time basis. Thanks for your understanding.

Hello All, I'm having a general problem with my Rifftrax player. I downloaded the Matrix: Reloaded packages first, and the Rifftrax player second. For some reason, when I open up the Rifftrax player, I keep getting an error message that says "A connection with the server could not be established." If I close out of the message, it appears again a few moments later. If I close out of THAT one, another message pops up saying the program needs to be closed. I'm not sure what the problem is. I've tried doing everything listed in the first post, and none of it has seemed to help. Any comments/suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated. I'd REALLY like to be able to enjoy the RiffTrax I paid for. Thanks! -Nio

We were having some issues with the server, it seems. We believe it's been fixed (thanks to xrampage16).
Please try it again and let us know if the problem persists.
