So, the player opens, it loads the .riff file, but then it doesn't play. I have the dvd in my dvd drive - Star Trek VI - and the player just sits there. My regular DVD player on the PC plays the DVD just fine, but the Rifftrax player just sits there. Any ideas?

Yes, did you click the load .riff button in the upper left corner?  And tell it where the .riff file was?

I did that. It loaded the .riff file, and then did nothing.

You've loaded an official copy of the DVD into your DVD drive.
You've launched the RiffTrax DVD Player.
You've clicked the "Load RiffTrax" button and browsed to the location where the corresponding .riff file is stored.
You've watched the progress bar as the .riff file loads.
When the .riff file finishes loading, nothing else happens.

Is that correct?

Are you sure you're using a legal, official copy of the DVD?
Are you certain it's the correct version required?

Which particular RiffTrax is this happening with?

This is happening with the Star Trek VI rifftrack. I have the DVD, and I'm absolutely certain that it is a legal DVD. Now, is this only supposed to work with CERTAIN DVD releases of a certain film? I have the DVD that came in the box set - the collector's edition, I believe. I realize that this may be the problem, I suppose.

Try the codec fix in the other threads.  This happened to me (no playback at all) when other DVDs worked in other players.  It was because I hadn't installed any codecs.

This is the DVD we used to create the RiffTrax and .riff.  It is not the problem.  Have you tried any other DVDs or files?
