(it's not like you can make a video of "Nothing happened. After a few moments, nothing continued to happen.").
They did. It's called Twilight. See also The Room

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I love this movie, I really do. Sure, it loses some of the humor aspects of the book, but then again, a lot of the humor of the book wasn't something that cold really be translated visually (it's not like you can make a video of "Nothing happened. After a few moments, nothing continued to happen."). All things considered, I think it was an excellent representation of Adams' work. Funny, visually amusing and clever, good show of the characters (Zaphod's a bit stupider than usual, but I'm a fan of the Arthur/Trillian ship), and the new stuff is very cool (loved planet Vogsphere). And you gotta admire a movie that tries to use practical effects whenever possible.
I wish Ford hadn't been so horribly miscast, and I don't know why they didn't get Stephen Moore to be Marvin. I don't mind Ford, mostly because I happen to like Mos Def.

Yeah, I really liked Mos Def in this movie. I was disappointed by the movie mainly because the emphasis was more on the amazing visuals than the comedy, which is totally against the point.

I thought Mos Def was fine, but I think I would've preferred someone like Michael Sheen to play the role. Sheen would have been great...but they had to shoehorn someone of color into this somewhere....and they didn't have the guts to make it Trillian or Arthur. PS - looked up the movie on IMDB and the first review is titled.."A travesty. A disgrace, All our worst nightmares come true"

Harsh words indeed. It is true it concentrated more on the visuals and general sci-fi stuff, but it still had plenty of funny moments.
I'm always kinda surprised at the amount of flak the movie gets. I would've figured Hitchhiker fans to be more relaxed about things.

I Come In Peace was surprisingly better than I remember. The plot's a little messy, but the most important aspect is that Dolph Lundgren is cop and he hates drug dealers. One of those drug dealers happens to be an alien who murders people while they are high on heroin to create the ultimate drug. It's kind of an interesting take on the threat of alien abduction/invasion. (If the alien makes it back to his planet with the drug, more aliens will come and murder people to make it.) Dolph is a terrible actor, but he's fun. Brian Benben is good as the tight ass FBI agent shadowing Dolph.

I liked Mos though he wasn't what I had in mind. To me they were all Brits, but I do like the choice of making Zaphod American because he acts like one anyway, and the guy from Galaxy quest that got the part is a great choice. I enjoyed Hitchhikers guide, though I greatly prefer the books, but I loved the Jim Henson effects. Last movie I watched was....... a miniseries (John Adams, to be exact), so I can't write about it here.

The Core (with Quiptracks) - The Quiptracks is great for this one, but the movie gets dumber every time I watch it. I'll never look at Stanley Tucci again without thinking "Do you know who I am?!"
P.S. I rewound it, and yes, it is a fish.

His rant - "You may have nothing to lose. You may have nothing to lose! You may have nothing to lose, but I have my life to lose thank you very much while you're up! Now turn it around! He told us to go back and we're going back! Why? You want to be a hero? You want to be a martyr? What do you want to be? You're out of your mind! Thank you! Turn it around! " -is one of my most favorite scene chewing, rant-tastic moments of all time. (Quiptracks does my favorite The Core riff.)

I dunno, can Mos Def be funny? Maybe it was the writing, but he seemed really unfunny the whole time. Just sort of standing around looking kind of confused. Ford wasn't confused. He never cared enough to be confused.

No, as best I can tell the majority of the script was all Adams. Definitely the new ideas and story directions. They did get someone else to come in to make some small edits after he died, dunno much more than that.

They did get someone else to come in to make some small edits after he died, dunno much more than that. At least that's all they'll admit to. And then Adams died and they had free reign (like these two "The Prisoner" projects that didn't really get rolling until after McGoohan died). But it's like they're always going on about how Carrie Fisher has been working as a "script doctor" for years and supposedly has had a hand in "punching up" hundreds of things...but not one of them seems to be on her IMDB page. How many others are there and what have they worked on - for better and worse - that carries someone else's name?
