I'm irritated about this currently because my local NPR stopped playing classical music in the mornings, so now when I drive to the Post Office I get yammered at by idiots. Might as well listen to BOb and fucking Tom.
Get an mp3 player, a bunch of cds/downloads, and either an FM tuner or one of those cassette outputs, if you car has a cassette player.

What happened to journalism? You know, people with degrees, doing research, crafting well-written and thought out stories? Ever see Network? http://forum.rifftrax.com/index.php/topic,15754.0.htmlActually if what you're listening to is "Morning Edition", you're getting more real news there than 24 hours of Fox Noise or any network. (there's audio of Lieberman during his campaign saying he was going to work on a public health insurance, but when he was on with Bob Schiefer they never bothered to play it back to him....?) No, I like Morning Edition. I was enduring "on Point". Fucking call-in shows, on NPR. Sigh.

I do have this, but it's just kind of lame for a quick 10-minute jaunt down to the post office. I suppose I could keep CDs in my car and just listen to those in the mornings. Fucking Nashville NPR.

Sadly before that i have to endure the local newsreader, who I think reads at a 2nd grade level.

Yeah, I'd be MUCH happier if they put Talk of the Nation on instead of On Point. They also have Fresh Air, which I mostly dislike, on afterwards.

Sigh. Ordered a bluray on eBay. Thought I got a good deal.
The package shows up, and it's not only the DVD edition, it's a full-screen one to boot. Contacting seller for refund...

Or the archives of this show or one of the other shows on this online radio station....different shows have different outlooks (as opposed to regular radio stations).

I basically like NPR for its news coverage, and then for a couple of its more entertaining shows--Car Talk is usually fun, and I like Wait Wait and Says You. I like parts of PHC, but the banjo and mandolin crap gets old after awhile.
Otherwise, I want classical most of the time I'm in the car.

I agree. I like the Guy Noir bits and a lot of the comedy, but the music acts just aren't my cup of tea for the most part. When I drove for a living, I used to listen to the local NPR station almost all day. I feel a lot less informed these days, really.

Some of the songs I don't mind--I generally like the ones where GK joins in, but I don't like the all-country episodes.
