In my opinion Bubastis shows just how whacked and full of shite Veidt is. He's already snuffed millions, some personally, and is prepared to bet the entire world on his plan, and the only thing he shows a GRAM of compassion for is his frikkin' pet cat. He doesn't pause and say "Forgive me, John" or "Forgive me, God", or plain old "Forgive me". Nope, he pauses and says "Forgive me, girl."
So it's Snyder leaving in the Yes-Folks-He-Is-Truly-Whacked-a-tron.
