I passed a Harley Guy the other day and immediately thought of the biker guys making the engine noise and was so tempted to shout out "FAG" at the guy.

The douches are the people who ride back and forth through a city and pump their accelerator while at a stop light

As a rider (not a Harley) loud pipes do help with letting people know you are there. But they don't have to be as loud as a lot people run. I still have baffles in my pipes and I can be quiet if I need to be. I really hate the douche bags who run straights with no baffles they are the worst. You don't need to be that loud. They are fun. Also economically. I get 55 miles to the gallon. At the height of the high gas prices I could go 200 miles for $10 or so. One of the things I hate the most about living in Massachusetts now is that I can't ride year round. In the winter I have to become a cage-driver. When I lived in AZ I could ride year round (and I did). |

Which is why loud (not overly/obnoxious/no baffle loud) pipes are good, as well as the nice and loud horn. As far as getting hit?? Yes there is that risk but as long as you are not a douche bag hotshot rider who is trying to compensate for other inadequacies, the risk is minimal. Riding a motorcycle requires constant attention. When I ride I know that most motorcycle accidents are caused by cars turning left in front of you. That is number 1 in my mind when I come to an intersection. I am always looking for the car that is going to kill me. |

"Hmm ... well at least he wasn't lost in vain." I'd never leave the house -- there are very few destinations which are good enough to be "always looking for the car that is going to kill me." But each to their own -- I'll be on the lookout for you when I'm turning left ... don't want to have to pay for a new paint job. |
