The definition of fag didn't change

Wait, would we get in trouble discussing this?

Are we going to return to ever having a point or is this thread going to go further south?
That's what she's wondering

I passed a Harley Guy the other day and immediately thought of the biker guys making the engine noise and was so tempted to shout out "FAG" at the guy.

bikes are loud because they let people know they are around. People listening to loud music would change lanes and kill the bikes if they weren't loud. Harlies are like only 3 - 4 feet tall.

The douches are the people who ride back and forth through a city and pump their accelerator while at a stop light

So should people who ride bicycles and pedestrians walk around blasting an air horn so nobody hits them?

It wouldn't hurt....

As a rider (not a Harley) loud pipes do help with letting people know you are there. But they don't have to be as loud as a lot people run. I still have baffles in my pipes and I can be quiet if I need to be. I really hate the douche bags who run straights with no baffles they are the worst. You don't need to be that loud.  Also a good horn is essential. I am going to get this one:

That horn is awesome!

I don't know what the appeal of motorcycles is. I personally have never been Bike-curious... nope, not even a little.

They are fun. Also economically. I get 55 miles to the gallon. At the height of the high gas prices I could go 200 miles for $10 or so.  One of the things I hate the most about living in Massachusetts now is that I can't ride year round. In the winter I have to become a cage-driver.  When I lived in AZ I could ride year round (and I did).

yeah but if someone hits you you are dead. Someone hits me, I'm probably injured, but otherwise ok...

Which is why loud (not overly/obnoxious/no baffle loud) pipes are good, as well as the nice and loud horn.  As far as getting hit?? Yes there is that risk but as long as you are not a douche bag hotshot rider who is trying to compensate for other inadequacies, the risk is minimal.  Riding a motorcycle requires constant attention. When I ride I know that most motorcycle accidents are caused by cars turning left in front of you.  That is number 1 in my mind when I come to an intersection. I am always looking for the car that is going to kill me.

That sounds like fun.  Wink

I couldn't ride a motorcycle simply for this reason:

"What happened to your husband?"

"Oh he got ran over by an SUV turning left while he was out on his bike."

"Oh my god! That's terrible. Where was he going?"

"He was going down the corner store for some Cheetos."

"Hmm ... well at least he wasn't lost in vain."

I'd never leave the house -- there are very few destinations which are good enough to be "always looking for the car that is going to kill me."

But each to their own -- I'll be on the lookout for you when I'm turning left ... don't want to have to pay for a new paint job. Wink

Hey some people can handle it and enjoy it and some can't. It is no big deal. Just remember when driving to look twice to save a life.

There's no evidence to support that assertion.

There is also no evidence that loud pipes don't save lives either.
