What the frick is it from?? I could swear I've heard it before but I sure can't remember where. Or am I imagining things?

And in case it's not obvious, I mean the "I'm gonna sick this bitch" line

The line is actually "I'm gonna sink this bitch" and it comes from the 2nd Annual MST3K Summer Blockbuster Review (I think it was one of those two). They pretty much riffed the trailers for the big summer movies at that time (1998) and it was from that.

I was wondering about that myself. I seemed to be out of the loop on some inside joke.

That is where it's from . Although I thought Kevin didn't do nearly as good a job on it this time as the original.

It was actually the "Academy of Robots Choice Awards" special.  Tried to find the clip on Youtube but the one I found "is not available in your country due to copyright restrictions."

I don't know why I typed "sick"  Tongue

Was that when they did that "short" on Titanic? I vaguely remember that now.

"Leonardo DiCaprio as a young Matt Damon", or something like that, sticks out in my mind. I'll have to try and find that again.

I still have the entire episode on tape.  Since it's not on youtube I should convert the Titanic bits into a downloadable file for you guys who haven't seen it because it's awesome.  At one point, when douchebag is showing Rose her new monster diamond, one of them says "This is a booty call, isn't it?" and one of the others says "pretty much."  LMFAO  But my favorite line was sink this bitch so it's totally awesome that it made this riff.

I was especially fond of the line "Hold my shoes, nameless peasant."

If you still have an original videotape, contact someone at www.dapcentral.org and they can digitize the whole thing for 'grey-area' distribution.   Smiley  If my copy was better than a third-generation EP copy, I'd contact them myself.

I'll look into it.  Never heard of "gray area distribution" so I'll be looking that up.  LOL

What I was referring to was that, while not giving official permission to release Best Brains shows, I read on the DAP Central site a while back that Best Brains actually contacted them after a 'reasonable delay' to let them know that if they could find a videotaped off-air copy of MST3K 319 Amazing Colossal Man that - effectively - they wouldn't prosecute them for distributing it, since the Rhino one had LONG been unavailable (and was unlikely to ever be available again).

The reason it's 'grey area' is because the original filmmakers/studio didn't give equal permission.

I think Best Brains trusts DAP Central so much because they immediately take down any shows that are released officially on DVD.  So they aren't interfering with that revenue stream.  And I'm pretty sure that those at Best Brains know that only die-hard MST fans will even find the DAP Central site, and those same die-hard fans will buy the DVDs even if they got the DAP Central copies [I have] so they still won't lose money via DAP's distributing them, they'll just have happier fans in the meantime.   Grin

Not to get too far off topic, but there was a time about five years ago when I didn't believe we'd ever see all of the MST3K episodes on officially released DVD/VHS.  But things have changed and I'm actually hopeful for the first time ever that it'll happen within my lifetime. High five!

Sadly there are a few directors (forget which) who were so offended that their crap films were riffed, that they said that they would never give permission for them to be released officially.

Wish I could remember which films that applied to, as DAP Central may be the only source for good quality copies of those.  [Through tape trading I got a complete set, but upgraded some on DAP Central because many of the people who were trading were - uh - 'less than accurate' about the condition of the tapes they were copying, so I got a bunch of unwatchable dreck amidst the good quality ones.]

Nevermind.  Somehow I'm in the wrong thread.

I'm particularly ticked that we'll likely never get commercial releases of any of the Sandy Frank movies. Several of them are among my all time favorites. Especially Fugitive Alien, Star Force and Gamera vs Guiron.
