The Twilight Zone (60s version is best, but the 80s and most recent remake are quite watchable)
Homicide: Life on the Street
The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace

Both unavailable on DVD in the US.

I could be wrong but believe Darkplace is over at youtube.

It is....

Doctor Who?'s suggestion of "The Good Life" is known as Good Neighbors here in the States.

And suggestions have to be on DVD or YouTube, eh?

Waking the Dead
Kingdom (with Stephen Fry)
It's Garry Shandling's Show

Yeah, I'm going to modify this a bit.

Homicide's good, but you're not likely to get much of a payoff out of it. And while I like Brisco County a lot, I thought of something more current that should be easier to find. So revised list:

The Twilight Zone
SCTV
Burn Notice

 Huh Huh Huh Huh

Really?  Because Homicide: Life on the Streets is brilliant.  If you hadn't mentioned it earlier I would have probably brought it up.

Oh, I agree that it's a great show. But if I picked a random season 2 episode of it to watch, well, I'm not sure how much a person who'd never seen the show before would react. Okay, Andre Braugher looking for a killer and emoting. That would be cool.  But you've also got Ned Beatty griping about his failing marriage, that Baldwin brother driving around and various other secondary characters doing stuff that really doesn't connect with the main plot of the episode. And while you and I are familiar with the characters, I don't know how Greg's going to react when Andre, Yaphet or Munch isn't on the screen.

Plus, I walked by my DVD collection and noticed my SCTV discs and thought, "Wow. Why didn't I recommend that?"

Yeah, any show is best when you understand the history of the characters and their relationships....

But in this case, you can show someone the Vincent D'Onofrio episode, "Subway".....and they'll know how good this show was.

I'd commit homicide if I had to watch any of those police procedurals.  First, on the person who forced me to watch them.  Then, on Glenn Beck. Just because.

Could we have one thread go by with out turning it into wishing death or worse on Glenn Beck?  I wish Obama would make himself dictator just so people wouldn't feel the need to curse out Glenn Beck and other republicans any more, they would all be dead and we could stop having threads turned into cursing matches.
Remember what Bill said to Kevin about the robot farts in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen?  "If we don't acknowledge them they can't effect us."

Maybe you could try once to just ignore an off-hand comment like this?  Let it go by - don't come back with over-the-top inflammatory responses and create silly threads - and maybe for once a fight won't break out?

He's overreacting in his usual, inimitable way, but Who? has a point.  Random political pot shots are not the reason most of us are here, and they have gotten pretty tiresome of late.
