 | NOW AVAILABLE IN MPEG-2 FORMAT!!!
November 19th, 1989. A day that will forever live in infamy (at least in the annals of Wikipedia). On this date, Mystery Science Theater 3000 made its nationwide debut on Comedy Central (then known as the Comedy Channel). For episode 1-01, Joel, Crow and Servo riffed a horrifyingly bad print of The Crawling Eye and rode into comedy history.
DogKnob is shamelessly using this milestone in geek history to offer, only on RiffTrax, the first fifteen minutes of our debut VOD, which happens to be The Crawling Eye, presented here under its original British title, The Trollenberg Terror. DogKnob's QA squad obtained a high-quality print of this classic stinker and (once we discovered what the actors onscreen were actually saying) unearthed an all-new treasure trove of gags for you to enjoy. We hope you enjoy this, the first 15 minutes from our own iRiff of The Crawling Eye, as much as we enjoyed making it.

Some Reviews...
I SEE YOU and you are great! Submitted by electronsexparty on 1 October 2009 - 7:30pm.
I can't believe I forgot to review this!
First, I love that DogKnob is doing VOD riffs because it makes it easier to view them as they are already synced. Second, I think it's so awesome that DogKnob replaced the squiggly first version of the riff with a better, less squiggly version. The audio and picture were great and I thank DogKnob for revising the file so we could have great picture quality.
As for the riff, it was hysterical. The movie was absolutely dreadful and DogKnob (man, I really like saying Dogknob. DogKnob.) did a great job riffing it without breaking down into wharrgarbl. It was most definitely a quality first effort and I look forward to more from DogKnob.
I want MORE!!! Submitted by sitstaypets on 29 September 2009 - 1:25pm.
Great job DogKnob!! Where can you find so much entertainment and happiness for only $6? I'm going to enjoy this one over and over and over again! (Especially until you produce more great riffs for me to enjoy!)
And while we're busy giving ourselves a pat on the Knob... A review of our FREE short Perversion for Profit:
throw out half of everything you know about riffing Submitted by Ice-on-Mars on 13 October 2009 - 1:41pm.
and enter a world where pony noises, echo FX and random other stuff might assault your ears at any moment. As a fairly old school fan myself, at first I found this really disarming, BUT it was so entertaining I kept listening. This short is like a kaleidoscope ride for the ear--not wall-to-wall noise, but certainly more than most of us are used to, and the just sort of strangeness of the characters riffing can really throw you off sometimes. And there's interaction with the film strip, sometimes in ways reminiscent of that old Daffy Duck cartoon where we see at the end Bugs has the paintbrush that's messing with him. What's impressive about this is that, A, it's funny, and B, after about two decades of MST3K-ing in general and nearly a year of iRiffs, this feels NEW. I don't think DogKnob has quite hit their stride yet, but nothing about this feels amateur, either. Really cool stuff. ...............................................
Big thanks to everyone who has watched and commented thus far! Happy B-Day MST3K!

Happy birthday MST3K -- I'm 30 years old and am happy to report that at the age of 10 I discovered MST3k and it forever warped my sense of humor and my love of movies so that I'm the guy who says, "No, I don't want to see that new Scorsese movie -- hey, I know! Let's rent Universal Soldiers II!"

Hey Bob, I know we PM'd back and forth about this, but I thought that maybe there might be hallucinogens in our Science Diet here, so I'm gonna go ahead and reply here... As far as I know, all iRiffers' stuff gets transcoded to AVI when we upload it.If I'm wrong about this, somebody please share. I'd love access MPEG-2 here.

I guess the bandwidth would be too much if larger MPEG-2 files were stored there. Converting the AVI to MP4 and MPEG-2 is not that horrible, but a bit time consuming.

I'm actually considering offering our VODs in MPEG-2 on our website for people who buy our them and want that. It would encourage comments because one would have to comment if they want it in that format so I would know who they are.
