No, he said nothing about family values or taking the father away from a family or any of that.  He blamed it on god being taken out of government.

Theya go Cool

I think my favorite part of this video is when they show a clip of blurred-out school kids chanting "Yes we can!" and then camera comes back to Glenn Beck, who solemnly intones, "And yet we can't sing 'Silent Night'."

Of course, don't you know anything about science?

I only casually watched that episode but I thought he was closer parodying Rush Limbaugh.  Even some of the mannerisms and way he talks was closer to Rush.  And the fact that he's so fat.  Obviously it was supposed to parody all talk radio and TV news show hosts in general but Glenn Beck didn't even cross my mind.

It was obviously supposed to be Glenn Beck.  As far as I know Rush has never cried on air or wrote a bunch of random words and phrases on a chalk board, then circled the first letter of every word to spell out a new word or phrase, both of which Glenn Beck is famous for.

Oh ok well I definitely missed that part.  I had the episode playing in the bottom corner of my screen while I was playing Dragon Age so I guess I wasn't paying too close attention.  I'll have to watch it again.

I don't think it should take that much concentration.

Look, here's the thing. Beck's schtick is a put-on. I know this for a fact. I used to listen to his radio show a few years ago, before he got the TV deal and really became a household name. Back then, he was probably the most moderate of all the right-wing talkers, went out of his way to be reasonable, was respectful with contrary opinions, had a pleasant, self-deprecating demeanor, and didn't engage in weird on-air antics. As soon as he got the TV deal, his show changed, like somebody flipping a switch. It's obvious that what happened is that someone told him that now that he had a TV show, he needed to kick things up a notch, and he did. It's a real shame, because Beck actually used to be pleasant to listen to. Now, you couldn't pay me to devote an hour to him.

Well, I think that is the problem.   We NEED calm and reasoned right and left wing talk.  I know that goofball right and left shit sells, but for people like me, in the middle, it just turns me off.

A so-called news station like Fox News should be embarrassed to air things like this.

No. Not really.
Morals are different. People can want to feed the poor or not. Try to advance technology or not. Health insurance for all or not. Its pretty simple. Some people are f-cking idiots.

The thing is: Glenn Beck does his looney nonsense because that's what the American people want. I know they say they don't want that, but trust me - when MacNeil/Lehrer starts coming in at #1 in the ratings, it won't be long before Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, and all those other bombastic, sensationalist clowns start reading serious news in reasoned tones of voice.

I know that it hurts the small percentage of us who genuinely don't want shit to have to admit this, but the truth is that the American viewing public gets served shit because it wants shit.
