So in the intro Kevin says that the audience chose D-war over other films on a list. What were the other films?

There were a ton, we spent most of the panel fielding suggestions. There were some movies no one had ever heard of, that I don't remember, one or two we had already done like Troll 2. Other ones I remember:
-Shawshank Redemption. I've been pushing for it forever, would have been nice. -Super Mario Bros. Got a huge crowd reaction. -Highlander 2. I think it came down to this and D-War. -Mst3k the movie

I remember the D-War guy was pretty enthusiastic, and it got a good audience response. Veronica had seen it too and vouched for it. I hope people check it out, its definitely one of the most obscure titles we've done.

Is it really that obscure? I at least remember seeing trailers for it in the theater and on TV when it was coming out. It is a good track though. Watched it last night.

Well, using the 'reasonable person' test. I usually gauge that on whether my mom might have heard about a movie. Or anyone in the movie.

So what are the odds on those other four being future releases? Minus MST3K The Movie of course.

I think Super Mario Brothers should be another fan written trax like Batman & Robin. Just make sure to allow additional submissions should there be any gaps.

I would love a RiffTrax version of This Island Earth!

It almost saddens me that Super Mario Bros got that close (cuz that'd be like in my Top 5). Having said that though, words can't describe how happy I am that D-War got it over Highlander 2. I'm watching it tomorrow. ::wrings hands in geeky anticipation:: Was it the 'reasonable person' test that cinched D-War in? Oh! And I second this question too (if it can even be answered): So what are the odds on those other four being future releases? Minus MST3K The Movie of course.

Conor - Do you guys still have significantly less success with the more obscure releases?
I hope you guys are at the point where any release does really well and I sure do love these kinds of riffs the best.
Did The Room do well?
How about Voodoo Man?
Anyway, whatever the case, a lot of us really appreciate these kinds of releases!

The Room is not obscure though - in the same way that Rocky Horror is not obscure. There's a sazable portion of people who obsessively watch it and will purchas a riftrack. Unlike D Wars (note, I don't care to watch any of the above three movies).
Personally my faves are the outlandish movies like Iron Man and X-Men that I enjoy but I can also say, "yeah that's kind of stupid" about.

Yeah, I love those, too. And things like Transformers that I loath so much it is fun to watch ripped apart. But 'The Room'? I wouldn't have even known about it if it weren't for Rifftrax, and just find it a slog to get through.
