I like the idea of a "products awaiting your feedback"... but with the live stuff and other things we have going on right now, we're way too busy to take this on right away. I think it's definitely a cool feature we can implement soon enough, though.

Very cool, I'm glad you like it.  Honestly I just wanted to know what you guys thought about it and perhaps a discussion could take place.  But now that we know you are interested in making our dream a reality I suppose we will simply have to be patient.  Thanks for saying something before I started posting all over the place and for listening to our ideas.   Grin  Can't wait to see what you guys come up with.  Thank again.

Here's a different approach, maybe better and more complicated.

Maybe not.

Using the idea that we get a webpage listing our downloads and ratings, maybe some sort of a reward. Say a free short for 50 ratings. It's nothing huge, but it's a great incentive.

Again, might be more complicated to limit the ratings to only things you've purchased plus some program will have to be put into place to keep track of how many ratings and someone else will have to take those 50 packets and convert them to freebies. Still seems simpler than emailings and begging AND it'll feel like a frequent shopper program. Buy 50 things, get one free. I've seen worse sales.

I think it's pretty much established we don't want to send out reminder emails and I'm pretty sure they already made it so that you can only rate things you've purchased or have been granted access to.

It is true that incentive may be important.  On eBay it is in your benefit to give feedback because you yourself have a buyer's rating.  When you give sellers feedback they in turn give you buyer’s feedback.  There's incentive there.  Offering free stuff sounds complicated but not a bad idea at all.  But you know, people are funny and I bet a free and easy way would be to create arbitrary rankings.  Give ten feedback you're a user, give twenty five you're a power user, and so on so forth.  Not unlike the rankings we earn here on the forum.  I bet that's all you would need to encourage feedback.  "Well, I'm only three ratings away from being a 'Blue Beer Drinker' I'll go ahead and rate those few I haven’t yet."  That sort of thing.

I did like your line about "Frequent Shopper Program" though.  Hmm.  Maybe people can earn coupons to use on whatever they like if they obtain certain rankings or something.  Brainstorms abound when new ideas are presented and it’s an interesting discussion.  I just hope it’s a discussion that is taking place amongst the administrators as well.  I for one can’t wait to see what they cook up.

I am mostly replying in hopes of getting this thread back up to the top of this section but I am curious, anything to report on this issue?

Nothing to report, sorry. iRiffs is not the top of our priority right now, moving the site to a new server (and an upgrade of our codebase, at the same time) is the highest priority for us at the moment.

I still am in favor of a page that shows your purchases and what you rated them, and which ones you need to provide feedback for, as well as a nag that reminds you (maybe once a week or something) to leave feedback for your purchases if you have any that require them. Maybe I can make that an opt-out feature for sellers, on a per-product basis they can exclude products from "requiring" feedback from all who purchase it.

Very interesting.  I'm looking forward to seeing what you cook up and I will try to be patient in the meantime.  Glad to hear it's still in the works.

Lately torgosPizza has been referencing a big site upgrade.  I would like to know if they have an ETA on that and if our new feedback feature will be premiering with it.

I would also be interested on if iRiffs will ever be able to upload their trailers or samples as apposed to dealing with youtube, in the forseeable future.

I prefer simple solutions so what I am about to say is not so much a recommendation but just an idea.  How about we iRiffers are the ones who agree to give away free copies of our iRIffs as a part of this program.  It could be randomly generated as far as which ones are given away and it would mean that people are motivated to give feedback with the whole, "give ten feedbacks and get a free riff" incentive and it would mean that some people get to sample our riffs who might not otherwise have given them a chance.  I don't know if everyone would be okay with any of their riffs being given away with no money coming to them as a result so there would probably need to be an opt-in button to click when you enter each individual iRiff to sell.   Also that way I could assign just a few of my riffs as giveaways and reserve others, maybe my best, as the ones reserved for purchase.

I don't know if that made any sense or not...

I like that idea, because that means 9 out of 10 riffs are being bought up as incentive (and I like those odds!).  But how would you distinguish between a $10 VOD and a $0.75 short?  All the low priced stuff would be bought up and the more-bang-for-your-buck VODs would get targeted as freebies.  I think it'd hafta be a monetary system.  Buy $10 worth of iriffs and get a free $1 credit towards your next (the numbers I'm just using for example).  I'd totally be down for any loose version of this.  Cuz even the 10th one would prob never be watched anyway (being so low on such a list), so that perfectly targets those who should be aware of that iriff group.  I hope this revisioning makes sense.

I probably didn't explain that correctly.

Let's say for example I decide I want top take part in this incentive program.  I look at my iRiffs:
http://www.rifftrax.com/iriffs/atomic-treatment

And I decide that of the eleven iRiffs I have, I want to offer three of them up for the incentive program.  I can decide to choose the shortest lowest priced ones so that I don't lose as much but still it gives people a chance to see my riffs and people are more likely to purchase something they are familiar with so my others stand a better chance of getting bought.

Does that make sense?
