Does anyone use intro and outro music for their riffs? If so, do you use an existing copywrited song, or do you compose your own and record it?

We're working on one but not sure if/where we'd use it.

I don't use theme music for Big Bunch of Doug Shorts or Doug's Big, Long One, but we use one for Orwellian Nightmare Society.  The guy who plays Big Brother made it for us.  He's great.

But do NOT use pre-existing stuff for iRiffs.  Remember, you're making money off these.  To use copyright materials is illegal and you can get in lots of trouble.

I use music from incompetech.com.  Its written and performed by Kevin MacLeod and he makes it available royalty-fee, in other words as long as he's given proper credit (I always mention his name in the outro and his name, the song used, and website appear in the credits section of my readme) then you can use it without paying, though he does accept and appreciate paypal donations.

Unless of course you get the creator's permission.  I made sure to contact the musician who did the 40 second song that I use.  I explained what I would be using it for and that it was for commercial purposes and that I would credit him for the music (which I do in my intro) and made sure to save the email he sent back saying it was fine to use.

Fox, I utterly and seriously love you right now - I've been looking for something like this. Now, here's the question I have - which piece do you usually use? Because I don't want to pick something you've already had...

I actually change the music to match the movie.  Most used song so far is "interloper" because its been my intro for each of the Nightmare movies.  I'd have to look up the other songs I've used though.

Ah, I was looking more into just choosing one I really liked and making it my default. Think "Chipper" is sounding pretty good to me.

We have a theme song we wrote & recorded ourselves.  It's on our Facebook page

http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/pages/OneWallCinema/95793549810?ref=ts

and on our band's MySpace page (if you're not on Facebook you can still listen to it here.)

http://www.myspace.com/onewallroom

Let us know what you think.  We spent all of 10 minutes writing and recording it.
