WOW!! I'm kinda Surprised you didn't Chunk that fridge out to the trash after last season A good craftsman never blames his tools....... he just gets a new coach and GM. Well, we'll se how that works out.. Our coach & GM don't seem to get it.. From our local paper.. Delhomme ready to prove he's worthy of deal
CHARLOTTE -- The Carolina Panthers didn't do many deals this offseason, but one they did became a lightning rod for a frustrated fanbase.
After turning in the worst performance of his career in the playoffs, the Panthers gave quarterback Jake Delhomme a five-year extension which will keep him in Charlotte for at least the next three seasons and possibly through 2014.
It wasn't the response fans expected after his six-turnover debacle in the 33-13 playoff loss to Arizona, a night in which he could seemingly do no right.
The reactions ranged from shock to anger to disgust, and even Delhomme's proponents were curious about the details.
But to Delhomme, the new contract (which he never expected) gives him a chance to do two things he has always wanted to do — finish where he got his first chance to be a starter, and to fix the problem he left behind.
“We're trying to do great things here, and I want to be a part of it,” Delhomme said. “Last year, I really and truly felt we were on the verge. We were 12-4, had a great season ... and one game ... especially from me. I can't really say anybody else on the team. I felt everything I put in from the rehab and everything just went down the drain, and it was more ‘Why, what would I do different, why didn't I see them?' It's something I still ask myself. It just wasn't my night. All the preparation ... I probably did too much.
“But if fans were disappointed with the extension, the quickest way to make them happy is to go out and play well. I'm not gonna try to talk about it. You win, it takes care of itself.”
That reaction is typical Delhomme.
Made a mess? Fix it. Things not working out? Work harder. Bad luck? Push through it.
To his teammates, the new contract was a relief as much as anything. They trust Delhomme, despite the playoff performance, and know that the contract eliminates some questions if he has a similar game early this season.
“I definitely don't think you sum up somebody's career based on one game,” left tackle Jordan Gross said. “They say you're only as good as your last performance, and that holds a lot of weight. But Jake's our leader and he's by far our best quarterback and the best guy to give us a chance to win.
“I think that was a huge show of support of him to the community and to the whole league that Jake's our guy and we want to keep it that way for a long time.”
There's likely no one in the city who has beaten up on Delhomme more than himself. It's that kind of accountability that has made him so popular in the locker room. He even joked that as teammates and friends called to console them, he ended up making them feel better, because he's already internalized the implosion and turned it into fuel for the coming year.
“Any player, whether it's good or bad, needs to forget what happened yesterday,” Gross said. “I definitely think he's got a lot to prove based on how we lost that game.
“But he's fine, he's back, and he's probably sick of talking about it.”
Still, his last performance contributes to his own astonishment at the contract. From where he started, he's genuinely fortunate to have gotten the security his last contract extension (in 2004) provided, and never imagined there would be more. He was undrafted out of Southwest Louisiana, and spent six years doing next to nothing for his home-state New Orleans Saints. To come here initially on a two-year, $4 million pact was a dream come true, the six-year, $38 million deal after the Panthers' 2003 Super Bowl run just added to that feeling.
“This is the honest truth; This is not like it was when I was waiting for my first contract,” he said of the discussions. “Everybody knows you have one chance to make a payday in the NFL. That's kind of how it goes. Once I signed in '04, that was it in my mind. I knew we would probably have to restructure, because we had done so every year, and my (salary cap) number had gotten huge. I knew at some point we would.

AW YEUH!! Got my 12 pack of Bud Light Lime bottles in the fridge Chillin for Tonights game Been searching around for a Red Buffalo Bills 50th Anniversary logo shirt, only to discover that they're Damn Near Impossible to find! Unless I want to buy a Dozen of them in One Size Only I can find them all day long in Navy Blue, White, and Ash Grey, but Not Red I've got a couple local connections in the screenprinting business that might be able to help me out

I looked around and I could not find the Red t-shirt either. I am sure they are all over the place in Targets and Walmarts in the Buffalo area, but that does not help you out much.

Yeah, I was quite shocked.. There's all sorts of Vintage Bills in red but the uniqueness of the 50th Anniversary on a red shirt just Looks Neat! I Will Have One (probably by a local screen printer - Not Official, but that's no big deal to me)

Grab it now.
Have a feeling the NFL doesn't smile on people making unauthorized money with their logos....even if it's something made of fabric they've licensed.
Might ignore it this one time but....
