So, we are saying that folks who pirate the Netflix copy have got it made in the shade!

D'oh, the ghost of Jack Vilenti, please ignore that.

My free (+S&H) funcash copy  of the Special Edition from Columbia House didn't make it on time, but from what I understand, if I pause the Rifftrax at 20:31 until 20:33 it should stay in sync for the rest of the film, correct?

Post Script: And it would be nice if @joelmchale let his 800,000 followers know that the RiffTrax has been released

So is the special edition Red Dawn a Sony disc?
Does it have nasty encryption on it?

Yeah, that should probably hold you until the next synch line comes up and you can get it better in synch.  I'd say as soon as that scene starts fading to black, pause, and then resume when the next scene comes up.  It's not a major drift, so that should about do it.

MGM/Fox, and DVD Decrypter ripped it without a hiccup.

I believe I might have found the culprit.

I too have the Special Edition, and noticed that from a period of 20:31.53 to 20:33.58 on the ripped audio, there is nothing but dead silence on the movie track.  I'm not sure what that corresponds to on the movie (I actually haven't even watched the movie yet; was waiting for the full riff experience Smiley ), but all the major synch problems seem to start around there.

I added about a second and a half at that point, and things seemed to line up for a while, only to slip out of synch about two more riff lines in.  Once I resynched to that line, though, everything was golden.

So, might be difficult for non-reauthorers to use the special edition, but definitely possible.  And for reauthorers, that should be where you look for issues.

If that fixes the problem, then they could issue a special-editon version of the Rifftrax.

Only if the issue exists when you're watching the DVD. We don't support reauthoring, since different programs might have varying effects on the track.

We ordered the Special Edition disc, will check it out next week.  Shouldn't be an issue that should give you too much trouble, from the way it sounds.

Yes, yes...IF there is a problem watching the movie on the special edition the old-fashioned way THEN it might possibly be solved by adjusting the Rifftrax.
Thank you Torgos for pointing out my imprecision.

I watched it the old fashioned way with the 2 disc set and, while it may be possible I was just messing up which one to pause, there did seem to be a few times I needed to pause one or the other for a second.
I'm downloading the .riff now, so I will watch the first 20 minutes or so to see if there is a problem there as well, since that's where the main issue appears to be

UPDATE: Yes, there it falls out of sync around 22-23 minutes, no matter how you try to watch it using the Collectors Edition

It's really not too bad, barely distinguishable from the normal "drift" that can occur (at least for the first half hour, didn't feel like watching the whole thing over again right after the first viewing). I suggest adding a note on the product page about the slight difference, just so customers that aren't part of the forum are aware of it. I'm sure some of them would like to know not to try the .riff file is they are using that edition.

I haven't tried the new Collector's Edition Riff yet but I had to add around 1.5 seconds of silence when the screen blacks out before they first head back to town. (Tanks in field) Then I also added around 200 ms to the Riff right after the Camp fire scene where the Pilot was telling his stories. When I did that it seemed to be perfectly in Sync.

Has anyone looked into audio quality of this riff? Seems a lot of the Riffs are hard to hear. I made a thread about it over in the Red Dawn Section and seemed a lot of people had similar issues.

Also can we Expect a new 20 Questions this week?
