I just ran to blockbuster and grabbed the regular edition. I'll let you know if it's out of sync which would mean something I've done wrong. Which is entirely possible.
You didn't swing by the shooting range to 'test your marksmenship' again?? Cheesy Cheesy Scary!!!

If someone has watched it normally using this Newer DVD, could you let us know if this is an issue?  Hopefully it is just an encryption problem when you rip the DVD.

Hmm.. Usually I run across this kind of problem almost immediately in my Pinnacle Studio program as I use the first and last synch line, and everything lined up Perfectly so all I can do is wait till the conversion process is complete and I'll watch the whole Riffed movie from start to finish for 100% certainty..

Well you are using the version from Netflix, which we know there aren't any issues with.

Well, until anyone tells us differently, let's assume the hiccup occurs when you rip the tracks, and won't affect you if you are trying to watch the DVD normally.

I believe I might have found the culprit.

I too have the Special Edition, and noticed that from a period of 20:31.53 to 20:33.58 on the ripped audio, there is nothing but dead silence on the movie track.  I'm not sure what that corresponds to on the movie (I actually haven't even watched the movie yet; was waiting for the full riff experience Smiley ), but all the major synch problems seem to start around there.

I added about a second and a half at that point, and things seemed to line up for a while, only to slip out of synch about two more riff lines in.  Once I resynched to that line, though, everything was golden.

So, might be difficult for non-reauthorers to use the special edition, but definitely possible.  And for reauthorers, that should be where you look for issues.

If that fixes the problem, then they could issue a special-editon version of the Rifftrax.

My guess would be that the experience would be identical for either versionif you were using the MP3 or .riff but there may be an issue if you try to reauthor the disc.  Haven't there been plenty of issues, esp with newer DVDs where when it was ripped, there was rejiggering necessary to make it work?

Hopefully that is the case, it seems like that would be the most logical cause of problems.  Nice that if you are reauthoring, you probably already have enough technical know how to fix the gap, or at least follow someone elses instructions.

Yeah, I made sure by doing it the old fashioned way, playing the MP3 with the film (Been so long, took me a while to remember how. Smiley )  And there's definitely a slip when the movie fades to black after the campfire scene before they go looking at the destroyed tanks.  The line about Michael Dukakis is RIGHT on top of the line that it's making reference to.  Don't know if the fade to black is longer than it is in the regular edition (um... why?)  but that's definitely where the break is.
