The Cinematic Titanic Panel was held at the Tivoli Theatre on Friday as part of the St. Louis International Film Festival, and first the news: The next Cinematic Titanic DVD release will be EAST MEETS WATTS, recorded during of one of their live performances. The idea is to give people a taste of what it’s like to be at one of their shows. The exact release date for the DVD hasn’t been finalized, but it will probably be sometime within the next month or so.

Looks like it's a live recording for the next DVD after all.

I'll give at least one of those a go...

One hour until doors open!

I am curious to see how the live DVDs look...... I mean, if they can do live concert DVDs, this should be a snap.

Live concerts of musicians is vastly different than people riffing on a movie.  If they did it Rifftrax live style than it might be ok. If they recorded a projected image it will look like crap.

This is what I suspect, BUT, like I said, I'll give the first one a go.

I think they might be testing the waters, because didn't they say they were hitting the studio as well? I think maybe the other DVDs will be studio ones. At least, I hope so.

The picture in picture is ok. Still not sold on hearing the audience.

The sound isn't very good.

I don't care for hearing the audience either.

The audience laughter is pretty annoying. Not really sure I'm willing to pay their normal DVD prices for this one.

what a terrible idea. The audience laughter is distracting and the way they are seating is way too distracting to watch a whole movie of. I'll pass on this.  No way i'm paying full price for that. Why cant they do a studio dvd of it? If i wanted to see it live, i would go to a show. Grr!

The sample wasn't too bad - if it's this or nothing I'll take it.

Can't help but notice it's coming out the same day as the Christmas show, that can't be a coincidence.

The audience is too loud, the picture's not bad, but I'd like a feature on the DVD where you don't have to see them sitting on the sides the whole time.

Yeah, I'd prefer if they started filming in the studio again.  It doesn't sound too bad, but I don't want the performers having to either talk over the movie or the crowd to get a riff in.

I thought it was pretty good. Some funny riffs in there, especially Joel's flubbed one that he actually takes the time to point out. Like Artie said, if this is it, I'll take it as long as it doesn't cost any more than the studio DVDs. I do hope they get some studio DVDs released soon, though.

I'm relieved to see that the live quality isn't too bad. But who the hell releases a live dvd anyway? Saw this live back in February, and it's absolutely hilarious, so of course I'll be buying it on release. And if they do decide to release a studio version, I'll be buying that as well.
I'm thinking about going to that NYC tour date too. I've got family down there, so I can actually have a place to stay this time (last time I spent a whole day walking around Cleveland in 20 something degree weather)
