should i decide to join the riffing fun, is there a way to bypass the craptastic computer speakers and redirect the sound to somewhere less crappy if i want to watch the actual movie on my TV and not huddle around the computer for two hours? or does it sound OK from a desktop in the corner of the room? i feel skeptical and this is new and scares me. also, the new-fangled $5 bill is evil. that is all.

Are you saying you want to hear the movie through different speakers while you record?  In that case the best solution would be to have it playing through a headset, since you won't want the movie audio leaking into your own recording.

no, sorry, i mean while i'm watching the movie. i'm wary of the sound quality coming from my computer speakers if i want to watch the movies on my TV instead of my computer.

I think he's talking about watching a downloaded riff.  It's hard to say how it will sound in any specific setup, but it doesn't sound like what you have is very different from how most people watch riffs, with the MP3 playing thru one set of speakers and the movie playing through a different one.  May take some tweaking to get the volume right, but you should be fine.  Try it, it's easier than it sounds!

Whoops, I've gotten kind of used to giving iRiffing advice I guess, and I don't see the thread category when I use my phone to post, so yes ignore my previous post and listen to Conor.  While I watch riffs completely on my computer with the Rifftrax player sometimes, I do prefer to play the movie on my tv while the riff plays on the computer.  It is indeed easier than it sounds to sync everything up, just start the mp3 first and it'll tell you what to do.
