It's seems to get it it to work, only prob is, an error message seems to pop up a lot, which can make watching a movie annoying.

I don't know what they did, but this new update seems to have really messed up the player.  Tongue

The error messages that popped up seem to be about not being able to connect to the server, which is new.
I've had the player on without the internet before, and these errors never happened.

Edit: OK, so maybe the error messages won't come up once you actually start the movie.
You'll get 3 error messages once the player starts up, then a few more once you load the rifftrax.
After that you'll get a few more, but then the errors might go away, I haven't started watching a movie a whole lot yet, so I'm not 100% sure.

This way might be the best bet to getting the player to work, until they figure out whats wrong.

Oh, and after you load the rifftrax and the DVD starts, you can turn the internet back on, and it's fine.

I think the latest update was supposed to not require any internet connection... so it's kind of ironic that these issues are appearing. I'll ask around and see if I can get some more info.

I am looking into it right now.

From what I was informed, it did not require you to contact the update server upon startup, which was the result of the old hang.

As for these next errors, I'll have to inquire and have them look into it.

I made some fixes to the server, that should hopefully alleviate some of the problems you were experiencing. Let me know if you are still having issues with it.

Turning off the internet didn't work for me, it's still stalled out endlessly, but now I get the error messages in addition to not being able to load a riff

Do you have an older version saved someplace on your hard drive? You might try installing that if you can find it. If not there sould be an older one at www.rifftrax.com/live ... it's not the best solution but it might work for now.

There is a new release of the player, and if you have not updated to the newer version, I would suggest you do so. The old version will not work, since it will attempt to connect to a location that does not exist anymore.

I wondered who turned off the internet yesterday. Please don't do that again.

Yeah, I'm using the newest version, though since I can get it to work by turning off the internet, I'm OK.

Not sure about others though, haven't got confirmation from others that turning of the internet works for them though.  Undecided

For me, I pulled down the newest update - it worked before - and now it opens the program, but it won't load any riffs. It just hangs there.

I'm having this problem too, keep getting error messages when I upload a riff, they say...

Access violation at address FFFD1AD7. Read of address FFFD1AD7.

Usually the riff loads after I press okay.  Also after I close a riff and try to close the player, I get the same error message repeatedly, and another message that says...

Connection error: "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond"

And then it crashes the player.  Seems to have started with the latest update to version 1.9.8.8.
