I dunno... a guy with a cigar versus a boring idiot.

I'd rather watch the whole BSG original series including BSG 80 than five minutes of the new one.
For once, I actually agree with you, bratpop.. Clap clap!

I'm not saying the chicks aren't kind of hot, but their hotness decreases one percent for each minute you have to watch them "act."

Me too.

Though I did watch the new one for awhile. It's just part of that serialized shit that's popular nowadays, along with thinly-veiled, clumsy allegory.  None of the characters are likeable, and the whole thing is depressing as shit.

And I fucking -hate- NuBuck.

This pretty much sums up my feelings on the "reimaging". Take away the corny 70s vibe from the original series, then take away the "being insufferable pricks is somehow deep and edgy" from the new show and your left with marignal sci-fi either way. The difference is that the original series actually tried to show that us lowly humans should always have hope. The new series is just a bunch of "aww fuck it, let's argue some more!". Granted, I only watched the first season or so... and I didn't hate it... it just didn't hold onto me for the long haul. Maybe it got better as things moved on...

It was really addictive, but so is any serialized drama when you start in.  That's the nature of them. And that's why the device is cheap, really; you just tune in to see what happens next rather than because it's really actually -good-.

See:
Comic books
Soap Operas
Little Orphan Annie

I'm keeping the mind open a crack until the new BSG is done - to see if they really do have a real ending to the thing - before I make a final decision.

But, sitting though the original "Cattlecar Galaxitive" would be hard enough.  BSG 80?  I'd rather  Gouge!

Even a Rifftrax couldn't make that tolerable.

It's a joke.  Like calling the first Trek film "The Motion Sickness" or the titles of movie satires in Mad Magazine.
