Yes, and demanding that somebody spend money to cater to your every whim even though you don't like anything they've done in the past is completely reasonable. Look what Lucas fucking did for people. He spent his own damn money to make the special editions, and people bitched about it. Then he spent his own money to make unnecessary prequels, and nobody liked them. So he caved and signed off on putting the best existing transfer of the original theatrical editions on DVD, and people found something else to complain about. If that was you, would you do one more damn thing for anyone? You're demanding that an artist go back and spend his own money to redo a period of his career but throw out all of the creative decisions he made because you didn't like them. You're lucky Lucas hasn't spend his own money to hunt down and kill every last ungrateful Star Wars fan.

Fight! Fight! (watches anxiously)

Hey, are the fighters female?  If so, then we can all make silly, condescending cat noises and treat the disagreement as frivolous and something to be laughed at and not taken seriously.

Wow, an impromptu societal riff. That almost gave me whiplash. Now... what if it was a fight between a Mexican immigrant and an African-American?

Excuse me but no.

First off art has always belonged to the people that view it not just the artist,if art was changed every year there would be no such thing as art it would just be tech.

Also Lucass is one of the richest people on the planet not because of himself but because of people like me giving him our money.

Also no one is talking about forcing him to change anything all i am saying is that i will not pay money for a DVD that only puts a picture on 1/4 of my tv screen.

Also one of the main reasons Star Wars made money was because of the SFX,Lucass had nothing to do with those but after other people made him rich he is just tossing it to curbs and doing nothing but giving interviews saying how awful the work of otther people that made HIM rich is.

Also he is basicly calling all of us stupid for watch the non CGI movies all these years.

Also Lucass' changes are not just to SFX they are major changes to the story that make it and the character stupid, sorry but he doesn't have the right to kill me just because I don't want to give him any more of my money.

I would like to point out that i had all the toys as a kid and I paid for the Star wars movies three times already,he has no right to force me to buy them again.

bratpop you only seem to come on here to insault people and make death threats so i will not be replying to any more of your posts, you just seem to hate everyone and everything I i prey that some day you will grow out of it but until then i will not be getting into this stuff with you in every thread.

I have fan edits of the prequels.... Aside from the riffs, those are the only versions I watch.

I have an EP 3 fan edit that improves the film immensely. Really good stuff.

Do they look good, quality-wise? Anamorphic? Do you watch them on DVD or computer?

They are just as good as the bought dvd versions. No difference in quality or sound. Anamorphic... 5.1... and all that jazz.

No, it would still be art. The "tech" of how you do art is irrelevant. A paintbrush is no better than a computer.

Not true. The same group of people did all the effects and they got to put food on the table because of those movies. Changing the shots that nobody had enough money to make look good doesn't invalidate all the other work.

Extremely not true. But you definately make it difficult, Doctor.

The sad thing is, if you compared both versions side by side, you'd have to admit most of the original shots look crappy. Ignorance is bliss.

Overall, i'd rather watch the Special Editions for the restored image transfer.  Witht the exceptions of a few scenes, its not exactly "blasphemy"
Making Greedo shoot first was kinda stupid, but personally it dosen't detract from Han's character arc.  Besides, his character didn't really start to flesh itself out until Empire anyway.  And the Jabba scene in ANH was rather pointless, seeeing as we had all this information relayed to us in the forementioned Greedo scene, plus the completely pointless shot of Boba did nothing to the overall film.  But those additions aside, i'd much rather watch THAT version then a version that's non-anamorphic, with sub-standard sound and a rather shoddy transfer.  The main vibe i get is that the fans seem to think that these movie were theirs, and no longer Lucas's.  They were always his, and he restored them to his vision, however infantile that vision may be.

Check this site out for a frame for fram comparison of all the changes in the OT SW trilogy

Some of the music cuts bother me in the SE--the trip into Mos Eisley to accomodate the new effects uses music from the Trash Compactor sequence, if memory serves.  I agree it looks nice, but I think a lot of the stuff is kinda unnecessary, and a bit of a nostalgia-killer.  So I'd rather see the originals cleaned up and with a nice transfer, untouched.
