Hey all, I think I am nearing having everyone on board for this new crossover iRiffs project I have been talking to people about so here's the formal announcement.

Beginning in January a different iRiffer will take on a chapter of the old serial, "The Lost City" which can be found on archive.org and other sites.  I have iRiffers signed up for all but one chapter, chapter 9. If someone is interested in taking it please send me a message here to let me know.  For those who signed up, please take note of the changed schedule.  I pushed it back a few weeks to give people more time to get theirs written and recorded.

To answer a few questions, there doesn't need to be any outstanding continuity between episodes.  One of the nice things aboutt his is it gives us a chance to show off our own styles and techniques.  Go ahead and put your intro on if you want, if you want to do sound effects you can do that, if you have a "shadowrama" style you want to use go for it.  The only thing I think we might want to do is come up with some sort of little insignia or logo with the chapter number in it to put on the poster to denote that it is part of the series.  Something like this...

...only more artistic than I made that.

I will be keeping up with people with any changes via email to let them know the specifics of stuff and to harass you about your chapter being done on time.  You can email me at millionbps@hotmail.com to get in touch with me.

*Steve-O I need your email address!!

2/21/09 – RoninFox - The Lost City 4
2/28/09 - Steve-O - The Lost City 5

3/14/09 – mattwnelson - The Lost City 7
3/21/09 - Harass Bastards - The Lost City 8
3/28/09 - RiffRaff Theater - The Lost City 9
4/4/09 - Movie Asylum (JamesofLinhood) - The Lost City 10
4/11/09 – Josh Way - The Lost City 11
4/18/09 – RavenRiffs - The Lost City 12

Andrew asked about prices.  Set the price at whatever you want.  I am setting mine at a buck like my other twenty-five to thirty minutes VODs, I wouldn't think that any more than that would be reasonable.

Another note to iRIffers.  If you use the archive.org file make sure to use the 512Kb MPEG4 file not the MPEG2 file.  Those are enormous.  Alternate source for films: http://www.publicdomaintorrents.com/nshowcat.html?category=serial I think you can get a torrent there if that works for you.

Oh man.  We get to "open" for Josh Way?

*Prepares to be completely out-riffed.*

On a more serious note, it's nice to see that so many riffing groups are on board for this.  If this all goes well I hope to do more of these kinds of projects in the future.  I look forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with.  Good luck!

I'd like to contribute, but I'm not really capable of making VODs right now.

I gotta see if the rest of Riff Raff Theater wants to be in on this. If not I might just riff chapter 9 myself. Hold that spot for me?

Good.  That's what I was planning on pricing mine anyway.  It would be nice if everybody priced theirs the same though.

One idea that I had that would be really cool is if the person following someone, like Riffchick is with me, could send me a 30 second - one minute clip to put on to my end where I could say, "Next Week on The Lost City!" and play her clip as a sort of teaser.  But that would be very complicated since it would mean we have to get things recorded a couple of weeks earlier than the schedule here indicates, clip out a preview section and email it to the next person so they have time to tack it on to their new next chapter.  Like I said it's a neat idea but may require more coordination than we can make happen.

No but if this works well we can do it again.  Also there is a chance someone will bail out or not do their chapter in which case I need a reserve.  You wanna take that back-up spot?  I will email you if it looks like someone won't be able to do their chapter.  Sound good?

Speaking as a buyer (and not a riffer myself), this sounds like a great idea.  Looking over some of the MST3k shorts, I wondered if iRiff-ers would ever do some of those old short-serial shows.  One group would probably be bored to tears trying to do an entire serial, but this is a great idea!   Clap clap!

This is also great for cross promotion.  If people want to finish watching the serial, they'll have to buy each episode.  In doing so, people who normally wouldn't buy our full length riffs will be able to get a good feel for each of us.  And maybe, just maybe, that will encourage them to try out our other riffs that we have up on iRiffs.

Wow, I didn't even realize this was posted today and is already filled up. I thought this was an old post and I was dumb enough to wander in too late.
