Is it me, or is it bullshit selling VODs of public domain material at a higher price? And I mean Plan 9, etc. Unless they had to order the original negatives or something. I mean if WE can put Plan 9 online for no extra cost, I think they can.

I'm assuming that the VOD is of the colorized version, correct?  Legend films remastered and colorized that video.  Time and work went into it, money was spent.

To be honest, it never occured to me whether the VODs would be colorized or not. (I'm pretty sure Troll2 isn't.) Though I think Legend should pay US to watch a colorized movie. Did Ted Turner teach us nothing?

Is Troll 2 PD though, or was it just cheap enough to licence.  I can't imagine MGM makes too much money from their dvd sales of it so they might have been quick to jump on a distribution of it targetted at one of the only audience groups that would enjoy it.

You're right, it's a mixed bag of overpriceyness.  Carry on. Wink

Of those two, NOTLD would be better to do.  The existing Mike commentary is fun, but its more like a parody of a filmmakers commentary than the regular riffing style.  Then again there's plenty of material in sequels/remakes/retreads and so forth if someone wanted to avoid the riffed original.

Yeah, I would be happy to buy an good iRiff for "Night of the Living Dead", even though I own the Legend-films version.

I also have the 3-riffers version of "Plan 9 from Outer Space".  While the movie is bad enough that one could certainly come up with a second collection of good riffs for it, there are some parts of it where some scene is so absurd that you almost have to use the same lines that the 3-riffers used.  I'd still consider getting an iRiff for it, but it'd have to be from some riff-maker that I already knew, and that I was pretty confident they could do a 4-star or 5-star riffing job.

What the hell are those things anyway?  Is there a DVD we need, are they illegal VODs, do we have to get the episodes online?  I'm not even sure what series they're from, do you have any idea how many Spiderman cartoons have been made?

This reminds me. Somewhat off-topic, but I got a message that blew my mind a while back. I had a youtube video way back making fun of Troll 2 and I got a comment from the movie's writer who told me the movie was supposed to be funny. Of course I had to do some checking around to make sure it really was the actual writer, but she seemed to be legit.

If it's true that the movie was meant to be funny, it has to be the greatest prank ever. I think even the cast didn't know. It must have been some big Italian in-joke.

I have no idea but I came here expecting to see some discussion of that deluge and there is surprisingly no thread.

i think it's pretty obviously MEANT to be funny. sadly ONLY the woman playing the dark evil mistress chick seems to understand that. oh, and the other problem is it FAILS at being funny. it reminded me a LOT of like a short film done in college by a bunch of different people trying to learn their craft. maybe high school.

So what you're saying is that it failed so spectacularly at trying to be funny that it actually is funny? I don't know. There are too many levels of irony here and I can't weed through them. The movie definitely made me laugh.

Actually, I thought riffing or redubbing 60s Spider-Man was a great idea. I'm not sure if it's available on DVD. I THINK it is, but you'd have a pretty small audience. Too bad it's not really public domain. But that IS what they invented YouTube for, and not iRiffs.
