Has anyone ever tried taking on the Wizard of Oz? Its such a classic and so rife for riffing. I'd give a shot myself save for my lack of the proper tech and lisp :p
Script in progress, more updates later. Awesome. Someone should take on the episodes of Lost/Grey's Anatomy/Heroes that haven't been done. I'd like to get some use out of those other 6 dvds in the Lost and Heroes sets...
I've suggested this as well and I still think it's a good idea. Don't forget about that Incredible Hulk series from the 70's. The Hulk series is highly riffable (as much as I like it). Maybe I'll tack a couple of episodes to my list. Perhaps Prometheus? First I've got Josh Kirby Time Warrior and Tim Burton's Batman but then a Hulk episode might be fun.

Also in your intro be sure to add instructions on how to sync up the movie, riff, and Dark Side of the Moon all together.

Should I do "Cosmos: War of the Planets?" I see that no one has it for sale but it has appeared several times on the forum and seems almost perfect for riffing. Is there a reason why no one has done it yet? I have only made it through the first third of the film and need to re-visit it but I thought it might work for my purposes. The biggest problem I have seen is the god-awful sound. It's like being tortured or something. Which I guess is a problem I have heard not seen huh I have been pondering doing a modern film to see how it will sell and perhaps if it was successful that success may spill over into my other riffs but I don't have any in mind. Are there any someone here wants to see?

Are there any someone here wants to see? I've considered it but it moves at an achingly slow pace and consists 90% of people talking in the same room. Some things are just too difficult to riff. (for me).

Yes I agree. I watched the remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" last night and I honestly don't feel I have enough talent to do it. I will give Cosmos another look, maybe I can find a writing partner or something.

That's a good idea. TorgosPizza has said that the Rifftrax VOD and DVD products don't sell as well as the mp3 commentaries. I think that says a lot about the misconception by some fans that most Rifftrax customers are die hard MST3K fans who want nothing except cheesy movies. Variety is the great thing about this place. Some like the old public domain stuff best while others like the mp3 commentaries on newer movies. Since they can provide both, everybody wins. Just try and look for something to riff on that you (and possibly a co-writer/riffer) don't mind watching over and over again. Yes I agree. I watched the remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" last night and I honestly don't feel I have enough talent to do it. It's funny you should mention "The Day the Earth Stood Still". Insert Coin(s) to Continue has done a riff for the 1951 version ( http://www.rifftrax.com/iriffs/insert-coins-continue/day-earth-stood-still), but nobody has done a riff for the 2008 version yet. Perhaps an iRiffer could be talked into going after this film. Heck, maybe someone could convince Insert Coin(s) to do it since he already has experience with the first version.

http://www.youtube.com/v/JZQ5CJR1Lh4&hl=en&fs=1&A film that screams "product of its time," The Holy Mountain was Alejandro Jodorowsky's dizzying elegy to the sex, drugs and spiritual awakening of the late 1960s and early 1970s -- a suitably bizarre follow-up to his El Topo (1971). Fascinating although it only fitfully makes sense, The Holy Mountain is beautifully shot and designed, and it suggests what might have resulted if Luis Buñuel, Michelangelo Antonioni, and George Romero had all dropped acid and made a movie together. A Christ-like vagrant and thief wanders through a perverse and unfriendly land until he encounters an enlightened one, who gathers the thief and six of the world's most powerful individuals for a spiritual pilgrimage. If that description sounds a bit sketchy, well, narrative isn't this film's strongest suit. But if you want to see the conquest of Mexico re-enacted by reptiles, soldiers shoot innocent people as birds fly from their wounds, and a wizard turn feces into gold, this is the movie for you. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

The re-release is actually news to me, but I'm likely to try and record in mid September, so it might work out nicely. Last I noticed there was at least one edition of it still in print, and I figured it was one of those movies that even if it were out of print would be so widespread and collected that it shouldn't be that hard to pick up. In any case, the standard DVD for the 70th anniversary release looks reasonably priced, curious how the blu-ray will look too. So far the script hasn't been that much more challenging than other movies I've written for, I've particularly enjoyed coming up with material for the musical numbers.

I found "Bloody Wednesday" at archive.org, and wow, is it bad. Pluses include many quiet spots, talking teddy bears, vapid hot blonde doctor, the same ruffians showing up again and again and again. Unfortunately, I only made it an hour into the movie before I couldn't take it anymore. It seemed to have gone on for fourteen hours, already. But if there was a commentary track, I'm sure I would love it.

I get that way sometimes. I've watched a bunch of Archive.org shorts and found a reason not to do them ..... the good ones seemed to already have been done! And Blood Hook I started but eventually found unpleasant.
Sometimes bad movies just get to you after a while. Points to the MST3K guys for sitting through movies like Manos and Legacy of Blood without losing their minds entirely.

I would easily second anyone taking on a Jodorowsky film. I've never actually seen anything by him, but I read the interview he gave about his failed attempt to make 'Dune' in the 1960s. My God, that interview is one of the funniest things I've ever read in my entire life. To quote the best translation (the whole thing available here: http://www.hotweird.com/jodorowsky/dunestory.html), at one point he talks about how he wanted to hire Salvador Dali to play the Emperor of the Universe: "Dali accepted with much enthusiasm the idea of playing the Emperor of the galaxy. He wanted to film at Cadaqu”s and use as his throne a toilet made up of two intertwined dolphins. The tails would form the feet and the two open mouths would serve one to hold the "pipi", the other to hold the "caca". Dali thinks that it is in very bad taste to mix the "pipi" and the "caca"." Very bad taste, indeed. But in all hilarity, I do think I would have liked to see his version of Dune; it would have been one of the most whacked-out, criminally bizarre films ever made, and damn it, it would've been fun to riff.

I think a riff on Sliders would be good. Maybe the pilot or anything past season 3.
