Any ideas as to why things look worse on the Wii for me not that I'm using component cables instead of RCA?

Not sure if you got an answer to this yet.

The Wii is only capable of 480p. When i switched to a high definition TV that was able to display 1080p... it really brought out the limitations of the Wii's graphics. It wasn't horrible, but i thought it looked better... or was meant to look better, in standard definition.

That was just my experience, though. You may be having a completely different problem. I'd double check the display settings on both your television and the Wii, just to be safe.

I did notice an apparent drop in "quality" when I went from a 27 inch to a 42 inch still using the RCA cables, but using the component cables and changing the Wii setting to the 16:9 or whatever it says made it worse.  I probably should check the TV though.  I know it's on 16:9 to match the ratio, but I didn't check to see if that was also on 1080 for the component input.  I know it is for the HDMI ones.

i think that it also depends on the sd processor for your tv.  as for me, i think i lucked out (or chose correctly) in getting a samsung with good sd and hd pictures...

Dunno.  My DVD player looked fine using RCA cables and the PS3 looks ridiculous using the HDMI on my tv.  It seems to mainly be an issue on the earlier Wii games (particularly Wii Sports).

Oh, that reminds me...I'm on a Wii now since this Christmas, too.  Though I don't really have any games for it...it's mostly for the "Wii Fit" experience (which mostly boils down to Wii constantly insulting me...it's like the movie "Easy Money," except without all the hilarious Dangerfield one-liners).  So, if I do ever get any online games, I'd be willing to hop on, though it may be a long time before that happens...my PC and PS3 still take up most of my time.

I just got a Wii a few days ago and I've been addicted to Wii Sports Resort.

Getting a new Xfinity router next month once the wife starts full time at Comcast.  Hopefully that'll solve the issues and I can get online with the Wii again.  (Assuming my dad gives me back my copy of Mario Kart... He's had it since Christmas.)

To everyone asking about the Wii's graphics....Remember the Wii isn't suppose to have great graphics. Its for kids and parties(for best results add alcohol) not for stellar game play. If you want that then you need a PS3 or Xbox....heck even a PC.

They're continuing with the retro series? That's awesome! I'll have to pick that up soon.
