Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a topic on Dead Space here.  Anyone else have the game?

I remember being not to amazed with the game until I saw the first trailer for it.  I have to say despite it's unoriginal plot and baddies, the game is quite amazing.  It's got amazing graphics and I'm starting to really like the control scheme.  That and the lack of HUD is really cool.  I thought the projector menu was just a cute gimmick but I'm really digging being able to walk around while browsing the inventory (TAKE THAT RE4!)

I'm not too far into the game (chapter 3, haven't been able to play it that long) but so far so good.  Minor gripes are with the melee attack.  If you can't stasis them you might as well just bend over and let the bastards do what they will.  Isaac seems to be fighting the ceiling when you press the melee button.  That and just the generic stranded in space with an ugly beast are the only two complaints I have.  But even with the overly done plot, it tells the story well.

I was interested to see how they were going to develop this, since they are basically seen as "the sports game guys." They certainly seem to have put a lot of work into the story (tired though the premise itself may be), I enjoyed the video comics they put out leading up the its release. I'm really disappointed that the final comic wasn't on the PSN this week, since the game came out and everything. That was kind of dumb. And no demo, either? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, EA?

I won't actually be buying the game unless it comes out on the PC. As I have previously said many times, I suck ass at console FPS games - the controls are too slow and clunky. Still, it looks interesting. Though in my experience, the "shocker" FPS games usually aren't all that good once you get a few chapters in, because you just expect crap to jump out at you all the time and it gets old pretty fast (Doom 3 anyone?).

Don't know if it's a typo or not but it's a Third person shooter, not a First person.  Just clarifying.

As far as the scare factor, other than FEAR, I haven't had a game really scare me.  This one in all honesty is more disturbing than scary.
SPOILERS:  One of the enemies is an infant mutated into a necromorph.  Baby villains aren't cool, I can kill me some Nazi's but babies is where I draw the line!  Until they start biting me :END SPOILERS

I'm hoping this becomes a success and EA gets the idea that NEW PROPERTIES are cool idea indeed.  I mean, sequels are cool but EA's "sequels" aka yearly updates are getting on my nerves.

I am in no way teriffied by any horror movies.  Put me in front of a half-scary game though, and I turn into a 7 year old girl.  I would like to play Dead Space, but I don't think my girly game sensibilities could handle it.

Yes, I realize it is 3rd person and not 1st person, but the controls are still the same (i.e. pathetically inferior to PC controls). To the point that it makes that type of game completely unplayable to me on a console. I know this is purely my own issue and not one that pretty much anyone else shares with console games, but from my perspective it's a dealbreaker.

I don't know if you've ever played Half Life 2: Episode 1 but if you have this game reminds of the part waiting for an elevator but looks like it will be 10 times more frightening and I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I was playing that part in HL2: Ep.1. I can't imagine taking on hundreds of zombies in a matter of minutes.
Here's some trailers.

Some gameplay video on the PC.

I did play Half-Life 2, but it was ages ago.  Wasn't there an abandoned part of the city with zombie-like things in, as well?

Yeah that was Ravenholm in Half Life 2. Sorry i steered this conversation off-topic with Left4Dead. I do want to play me some Dead Space quite a bit as well.

Ah didn't mean to nitpick, just thought it was a typo.  I get what you're saying.  I actually like 3rd person shooters better on the console due to the slower pace, but FPS's are far better with a keyboard and mouse.

I got it yesterday. Amazing stuff. I'm at Chapter 3 right now.

Is it just me or does this game remind everyone else of System Shock 2?

Also, I would like to add something. Whoever designed the sound is a genius.

Loving this game. It also gets big points for using one of my favorite Sigur Rós songs in its trailer, "Untitled 7".
