Speaking of being confused, did anybody else think that the title meant a film version of The Last Airbender?

Well, it's T-Minus 7 days and counting until Cameron's Avatar is wide released. There have been at least two showings of the movie in Britain and the U.S. for journalists and movie critics. So far the word has been mostly positive, what can be divulged of the movie's value so far. I just hope it smashes right through New Moon's records and even unseats Cameron's last film, Titanic, as the top grossing movie ever. Great to see Cameron go back to his Sci Fi roots with this movie.

Well I for one am hoping for a Vinny Chase cameo.

Thinking about that, Cameron was probably getting ready to work or actually working on Avatar when he did that Entourage stuff. Weird.

A Vinnie Chase cameo would be priceless, and it makes too much sense.

This is actually one movie I don't want to see at midnight. That's a crowd I kinda fear. So I'll be seeing the matinee on the 18th (probably twice, once 3D and once not. Gotta see if this thing will hold up at home, after all).

This movie will make Titanic look like Zyzzyx Road... and I still probably won't see it till the Rifftrax comes out

I hope it makes a ton of money if only to knock Transformers 2 off of the highest grossing movie of the year. Suck it, Michael Bay! A real filmmaker is in town!

I think Harry Potter already did that. And since this is being released so close to the end of the year, I think it's going to have to make several hundred million dollars in a few weeks to make the end-year Highest Grossing lists.

I'm just hoping it will bump New Moon out of the Top 3 Opening Weekend list...

Forget about Transformers, what about something more recent like New Moon?

Alright, help me out, all you non-haters; what am I missing?  Just this morning a friend asked me, "Doesn't that new 'Avatar' movie look like a movie from hell?  And, yeah, yeah it does.  Mabye it's because the love story is so cliched?  If you're going to make an action/sci-fi movie, please do not tease with a love story....AT FARKING ALL!!!!

Granted, I didn't watch the trailers/clips offered in this thread, so, if this is a factor of why some of you are so geeked about this, let me know.  Please.

But, getting back to what I have seen, some humans are cloning/creating themselves into alien being things to war with alien being things and in the meantime, one of the humans falls in love with one of the alien being things and when she finds out why he's there, *hurt and confused* "You knew about this?"  But, I'm sure by that time the guy will have really fallen in love with this woman or changed his mind about the mission.  WHY, OH, WHY is this getting positive reviews?
