Production on Waterworld has run into a series of problems. We originally rented a copy from Blockbuster (we originally decided not to wait for Netflix, because we didn't want to lose any days working on it). We got most of the writing done, but the movie is so long so we ended up having to return it before we were done. We ripped the DVD before taking it back, but it's full of problems- the audio/video doesn't match, and we're running into this weird issue where the audio just disappears entirely anytime we click somewhere on the timeline (we ran into this issue with "RoboCop" too, and never really figured out how to fix it).

We've decided to go ahead and get a copy from Netflix- I know "Waterworld" was just recently re-released on DVD in some kind 2-disc special edition, so that's the one we're looking to get, hoping that the ripped files aren't so messed up. Otherwise, we'll have to just buy a copy from Wal-Mart or something. In any case, it's going to tack on some time to getting this one finished... probably won't be ready until around 2nd week of December.

It's like your computer is telling you, "Hey guys, come on.  Waterworld?!  I'm sorry I just can't be a part of this."

And the Netflix gremlins were saying, "rent from us, you can keep as long as you want"!

It's not just the internet. Ever since we started, birds keep dive-bombing my car, and every time I walk past a flower-bed, all the roses wither and die like I'm Pepe LePeux. Also, anywhere I go, a cyclopean-Dennis Hopper is always standing off in the distant, pointing at me in a way that can only be described as ominous, almost like he wants me to come with him to somewhere so very dark, and so unimaginably cold....

It may just be me, but I'm 85% certain this movie is cursed.

An exciting idea has been pitched at the Team BHR board meeting.

Live iRiff podcasting. A tv season beginning to end, as a weekly live broadcast. Capable of taking Calls From The Public. Details to follow. Suggestions welcome.

We here at Big Jim Industries, Inc. just put the finishing touches on a (rough draft) preview of our upcoming inaugural riff of "TITANIC."

Check it out if you get a chance.

That's funny stuff.   Cheesy  We did, in fact, sing along.  Boss graphic work, too.

BIG JIMers Dustin and Eric just got done with a 2-part short, Stanley Kubrick's Day of the Fight.

Please, enjoy.  TITANIC still to come.

The clock's been ticking and I've been fighting to get Nightmare on Elm Street 4 out during November.  Well, looks like I'll just make it.  Nightmare 4: The Dream Master, coming this Friday.  Poster and samples will pop up very soon.

We ripped the DVD before taking it back, but it's full of problems- the audio/video doesn't match, and we're running into this weird issue where the audio just disappears entirely anytime we click somewhere on the timeline (we ran into this issue with "RoboCop" too, and never really figured out how to fix it).

When we started work on our first iRiff (having already done 3 VODs), we had the exact same problem... until we discovered HandBrake (freeware). Now it's just perfect.

I will also vouch for HandBrake.  Most reliable conversion software I've used... and free!   Grin

I had hoped my Christmas riff would be up by this weekend but my computer has been in the shop for a few days now and no telling when I will get it back.  I at least hope to have it finished by Christmas.

Well, our troubles with "Waterworld" have got us licked for the time being. We've tried a few different versions of the DVD, and even a different DVD-ripper, and keep running into the same issues. We've got one last trick up our sleeve, but it's one that we won't be able to underway with for a week or two... there's a new, Extended-Edition/Special Edition "Waterworld" that we recently released, but one that doesn't seem to be available at any of the stores near us. We're planning to order a copy, but since it's the Christmas season and we work on limited-incomes, I don't think we'll get our hands on it until near the end of December.

In the meantime, we don't want to lose any more time working on our Christmas-riff, so we're getting started on that one. I don't want to tell you what it is just yet (don't want to jinx it like "Waterworld"), but we're not resting on our laurels. Sorry to anyone who rushed out and bought a copy of "Waterworld", but don't worry; our script for it is finished, so we'll definitely be getting that one out eventually, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Incidentally, the extended edition of "Waterworld" has a version that's 40-minutes longer on the DVD. That movie is already over two hours long. Who the hell thought it needed another 40 minutes?!?!
