I've been working on Super Mario Bros.

I started writing the riff just to see if I could.  Now I guess I'll have to finish it and submit it!

Ha.  That's on my list of movies to riff.  I've seen it before and it truly is dreadful.  I look forward to hearing your finished product.

A loooong time ago I read some guys review of MST3K talking about how they were making fun of great movies and that it wasn't funny.  I looked up the guys name and he was a big fan of Jacques Tourneur.  Had a website devoted to him or wrote his thesis on him or some such crap.  I decided then and there to one day do a DIY mst3k of "Night of the Demon", directed by his favorite director and really tear into the movie.  I bought the DVD on ebay and it has sat on my shelf for something like four years now.  I don't know if I am up for it so I will put it out there for others if only to vindicate MST3K.

I just did a riff of an old short called "Boys Beware" that was a real gem.  I'm using that and maybe some more to work myself up to, I think, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, which I may or may not get a friend or two involved in as well.  I think my initial short is funny -- I think.  Not like the best episodes of MST3K or RiffTrax, but it's funny.  I'm going to show it to a couple of friends and see what they think and it may end up on the iRiffs site unless the few who see it think it completely sucks. Smiley

I think I'm calling my stuff "A Riffer Runs Through It" with the tagline "Riffing 'em a new one!"

What do you think, sirs?

I had Boys Beware on cuts.com - it is a riot. I keep thinking I will redo it but haven't got around to it.

Get the hell out, the one time I, unsuccessfully, tried to use Cuts.com it was with Boys Beware.

If you wouldn't mind doing the lines separately and editing them together or something like that (or I could get skype to work  Roll Eyes), I'd be up for doing that one.  Smiley

Maximum Overdrive - Still a work in progress.

Raven, is that even out on DVD? It's not on Netflix, so I don't know how I'll be able to see it.

Amazon and DeepDiscount show new copies in stock, as do a number of other dealers. Dunno why Netflix doesn't have copies.

Well somehow I wound up with two copies on DVD.  The first run DVD release and then the newer one from a couple of years ago.  I guess we can have a pass the disk along series and one person can watch it at a time.  I wouldn't know about netflix.  Never signed up.

I'm talking with my friend Sketch (who is a really funny writer) about a first project. Our possibilities so far:

Bionic Woman pilot (recent series)

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (not the current film, but the Cartoon Network series from a couple years ago)

Challenge of the Superfriends (criminy, pick an episode)

But I'd kind of like us to cut our teeth on something public-domain, so I'm scoping archive.org to see what might be good.
