So, Video on Demand means that we can't watch it on the big screen in the living room.
And buying a DVD means waiting for it to ship, and paying for extra packaging that will be quickly ignored.
I really like the EZ Takes method of downloading a DVD image and burning it at home. Is it possible that some iRiffs might be available through a method like this in the future?
Please?

Any of the video content can be made into a dvd using the program DVD Flick. It's free and easy as hell to use. It's what I used to put together my Rifftrax shorts DVDs. I got about 9 or 10 of them on a disk before the program starts lessening the quality to pack more in.

Yeah. If you're able to burn a DVD image, there's absolutely no reason you can't just use a simple program to convert the digital media into a DVD file. It takes about 5 minutes to set up your DVD options, and about an hour for the program to convert the video file into a DVD and burn it (assuming a full length movie of an hour and a half or so).
DVD Flick is extremely easy to use. There's practically no effort involved.

Also, since going forward all of the VOD releases are going to be in mp4 avi format (not counting the current releases), technically they are compatible with MORE devices out of the box, since iPod, PS3, and XBOX 360 machines will all play that video format without even having to burn them... you can just stick the video file on your device, and play it as is.
The ONLY thing that the VOD releases won't do automatically is play on a divx-only DVD player. But in this day and age, it really isn't hard to convert to alternate formats (and because of the high quality of mp4, you really won't lose any noticeable quality by doing so).

I guess it depends what is a BigScreen(TM).
I watch all my riffs as DivX files ripped from the original DVD's and with the audio remixed. They look fine on my 32 inch plasma. They look the same as a DVD. I have a computer plugged into the TV to do the playing, but you can actually get lots of portable media players you can plug into your TV that will play DivX and double as an external harddrive.

For me, I watch either the Divx burned on a DVD on my main 51 inch plasma or watch the MP4s on my plasma TV via either, burned DVDs or via Apple TV.

That's why we have decided to go with a DRM-free, mpeg-4 avi for all VOD. That way we can provide fewer formats, but that one format will have ultimate compatibility. The quality will be high enough that it should look fine playing on an actual TV.

See, I was thinking that "Video on Demand" equaled "streaming," 'cause usually that's what it means.
I am very pleased to see that here it means "download the video"

We don't have plans yet for pay-per-stream, but that is something we're considering / have considered.
